  1. A noble effort, indeed. Don't see why VP can't handle it. Audio tracks will normally mix, but can be soloed. Individual tracks can be exported. Worth a test drive of VP software. The unlicensed version is a trial with limited effects, audio tracks and export options, which can vary from time to time. The licensed version has no such limitations, and upgrades are free for six-months. The folks in this forum are here to help if problems arise.
  2. While VP allegedly supports an 'unlimited' number of tracks, in reality it's best to be economical. Your requirement should be well within VP limits, and projects utilizing many more tracks have been seen. Should be no problem. Yet, a cautionary note, it is a 32-bit program (64-bit soon). As such, lengthy projects with very high-resolution files, multiple tracks and many effects sometimes bump up against memory limitations, especially at export. To lessen the load it can be wise to break up such projects into individual exports, to be merged for the final output. 8 Gigs of RAM on an older i7 2700K isn't beefy for resource-intensive video editing, but should be okay. Each project is different. Describe yours in more detail and someone may be able to offer more insight.
  3. This is the latest version. Try right-clicking on the installer, then RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR. Report your result here.
  4. Nothing 'fishy' about that file here. Previewed and exported without a glitch. As for no problems in other editing programs, note that the game file was loaded into another very competent NLE here. The video track was blank. Some things were never meant to be known...
  5. Sorry, but no one else seems able to replicate the freezing. Repeated tests here have all succeeded. Under the OPTIONS | EDITING tab, toggle "Use hardware-accelerated video effects (Requires SM 2.0 hardware)" and see if that does anything. Try another PC if available.
  6. Where is this being typed - in the text entry box? These two characters appear, respectively, when your codes are entered... û ù Copy/Paste your dash into the text box.
  7. Wasn't this issue resolved early in August? http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/32229-export-isnt-working-properly-resolved/?tab=comments#comment-86992
  8. For YouTube go to this page, click HELP at the bottom of the column at the left and type "Create clickable link" at the right. That's likely the latest. Whether an export or project is most useful depends upon the circumstances. Usually it's the project, which lets others see what you see in VP.
  9. There appears to be something funky with the file itself. In the MPC-BE media player it's clean; In VP it's a mess; in another editor there's no video whatsoever. How was the file created? Try alternatives, if available.
  10. The FLYING CLIP track has been hidden and slight adjustments made to other tracks for a more fluid landing. There are repeat frames in the original. A 97% transparency has been added to the LANDING track. This seemed to subdue the shadow. IMO, the resulting grass texture isn't distracting. The keying issue that you spotted in recent version should be fixed in the next release. Good work!

    Aspect Ratio

You don't want PROPERTIES. Click on Change Clip Aspect Ratio and choose a ratio. Then the clip can be dropped onto the timeline. If no joy, submit a test file and indicate the A/R desired. Upload it to a free server, get a shareable link and post that link here.
  12. Under the HOME menu if you see no OPTIONS icon on the toolbar, click the chevrons at the right of the bar to bring it into view. Or click the MENU item at the top-left, then TOOLS | OPTIONS. Save Project File AS, then update to the latest release.
  13. Things you can try... Shut down VP. Restart. Before loading the project click OPTIONS | DISK tab and Clear Unused Cache Files. Under OPTIONS | EDITING, toggle the Use Hardware Acceleration item, to see if that makes a difference. Install the latest version. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Update the PC video driver and Direct-X, if necessary. AMD / ATI users: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx Intel users: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx nVidia users: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us Update DirectX: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/179113 You can also upload a short project that demonstrates the issue and share it here. Someone will check it out. Just follow this procedure... 1. With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. 2. Locate the saved, numbered folder and upload it to a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* (Don't upload the export or just the VPJ file.) 3. Get a shared, public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. Click the blue "Change to anyone with the link..." Then click COPY LINK | DONE. 4. Paste that link here, or click the folder, above top-right in this forum, and message it to me. This is private and won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
  14. Post a link to the exported video (not the VPJ project) that you have uploaded to a server, and make it public. If using Google Drive click Get a Shareable Link, click the "restricted" link and change that to Anyone Can View. Then click DONE.
  15. Linking is a function of the server, not VP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYs3x74jHGw You should never lose any work if Save Project File AS is used routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as to not overwrite prior saves. Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. Then clicking on a saved VPJ file (not playable) will load the project just as it was when saved, provided no source files have been moved or deleted.
  16. Please install this version. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Let us know if that solved the issue.
  17. Please install this version. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. A blue line? Please link a screenshot. Upload it to a server, share the link and post that here. The green and grey lines above the thumbnails indicate the state of sequence and preview caching. When they complete, play should be smooth.
  18. Peculiar. A number of folks have loaded and exported your project, without issues. Possible permissions problem. Try launching the program in Run As Administrator mode. Right-click the VP icon.
  19. If you have the time, install the latest. Export. Report your result. Then you can re-install 7.51. Thanks.
  20. Should have thought of that. Actually just recently tested a similar scenario here but it didn't quite duplicate your A/R. The MATCH MONITOR setting gives a good representation of how the export will display on your monitor. One way to minimize confusion is to use the dual display option - PV on the left, MATCH MONITOR on the right for the sequence. Glad it worked out.
  21. If there's no Sequences tab in the bin, create a new blank sequence by clicking the + sign in the Sequence 1 tab above the timeline. Then click the Sequences tab in the bin and right-click on Sequence 1. You should see this... Still unable to replicate the 'portrait' issue. Upload the package, as complete as possible, and someone will take another look.
  22. You want the tab where the files are - the VIDEO tab. Right-click any clip and there are three A/R main choices, with drop-down sub choices for each. In the project you sent IDA has a motion effect at default parameters, so nothing is changed. There's no split-screen. But when one is programmed, it appears. Carleton has no effects, but when a split is added, it also appears. Was misled earlier when it didn't display in the original slot. Making these changes did nothing to the overall A/R.
  23. You can upload LINKS to screen shots. Just upload them to a server, get a shareable link and post it here. When initially adding clips in the bin, right-click and CHANGE ASPECT RATIO if necessary. There are many choices in the drop-down box.
  24. Never see A/R changes in the latest release, version 8.77. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Moved Carleton to an unused area, added the split screen, and he appeared. Moved Jo and Terrence to the same vertical strip and split. They appeared. Hu was among the missing 16 files not included in your partial package, so used Kenny on that track, split it into another box. And he appeared. No other clips were affected. If you export a partial project, then bring it back in to add more content, there is no way that new effects can change A/R of individual boxes in the that clip. It's a composite. Perhaps the quickest method for creating a 5x5 with lowest overhead is to follow Nat's advice in the FAQ above. In essence, compose the left-hand column, in sync, and export. Clear the timeline. Compose what will be the next column - still at the left and in sync - and export. And so on until there are five exported clips, each with a column of five faces. Or even just four columns, if there's a newly built column already on the timelline to which the other four exported clips can be added. Then load them into a new project. Use the POSITION effect to horizontally abut each clip to the right of the prior clip, resulting in five vertical columns side-by-side. A master audio file of all tracks can be created by right-clicking the Sequences tab in the bin, right-clicking the sequence icon and clicking Save Sequence Audio as New File. That single file can be substituted for all others, further lightening the processing load.
  25. Thanks for privately sharing. Very tough, especially with only a partial project, to pick apart the layering. When the Carleton track is split-screened (no Letterbox effect) over other small-box singers, he doesn't appear at any position. However, when he is added to a new track (at top) and split-screened, he is there - at any 5x5 position - with no change in A/R of other images. This using version 8.77. The content you supplied did export successfully at default settings.
