  1. Good sleuthing, through your frustration. Thanks for reporting. Possibly a software issue. File system? But you did chkdsk. You might run Windows Memory Diagnostic. Type that term into the left-bottom search area. MS will likely suggest reinstalling Windows - a typical cure-all. Or you can upgrade to 2004 if not already in residence. Please clue us in when the fix is found.
  2. Humm.... different result here. Thirteen-second mp4 1080 clip twice on timeline, with the second one reversed. Export at 1080 mp4 defaults. First clip export ended at about 3-4 seconds. Second completed at about 42-43s.
  3. At the point where you want the split, click the red cursor and click the scissors, or click the SPLIT button, or press the "L" key. Selct one of the two clip sections and press the <del> key>. Export. Press <ctrl-Z> (EDIT | UNDO) and the half that was deleted will return. Delete the other half. Export. OR Set the cursor where you want the split and with the left mouse button depressed, drag across the first section to be exported. Right-click the highlighted area and EXPORT SELECTED REGION. http://help.nchsoftware.com/help/en/videopad/win/editing_trimmingsplitting.html Click the ? at the top-right of the Videopad window for HELP. Press <ctrl-F> for a search box at the left-bottom. Also check out tutorials... http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/23872-videopad-tutorials/
  4. Swipe the text to highlight it. Click the box. Choose your colour. Click OK.
  5. Try here. Ignore any virus warnings. An update within a six-month period will likely be fine, but be aware that full compatibility between versions isn't guaranteed. Retain your old installer and registration info.
  6. A virus? Doubtful, as it loads normally in version 7.51. And beyond clearing VP cache, W10 temp files and keeping virus definitions up to date, no further thoughts on what on the PC could affect loading of this file. What about those other files - of varying lengths and formats. Do they load in v8.63 or v8.77?
  7. Thanks for the report. Of course, once exported in another NLE, it becomes a simple clip for VP - no need to deal with the reversal. VP reversed clip export is slow. File a bug report or suggestion by clicking the chevron at the top-right of the VP window.
  8. "Preset?" When clicking CREATE, the export dialogue vanishes and the process begins. Using both v8.63 and v8.77 here, the subs are showing up as they should.
  9. You mean that subtitles are no appearing in the exported version? Did you create the subtitles on the MAIN subtitle channel, and not a secondary channel? Was the HIDE button inadvertently pressed in the subtitle window, or chosen during export?
  10. You should never have to "start again.". Use Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. Then you can restore a project to the state it was in when saved. Just double-click the VPJ file (which isn't playable). What version of Videopad is being used? Install this one. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Does audio vanish in preview, or only upon export? Let folks see what you see by sharing the project... 1. With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. 2. Locate the saved, numbered folder and upload it to a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* (Don't upload the export or just the VPJ file.) 3. Get a shared, public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. Click the blue "Change to anyone with the link..." Then click COPY LINK | DONE. 4. Paste that link here, or click the folder, above top-right in this forum, and message it to me. This is private and won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
  11. Just a user here, as are most who participate in this forum. NCH folks would be the ones to decide on further action. There can be minor compatibility issues between versions, which may be the cause of the error. It's best to export with the version, or near the version, that created the project. One thing more to check is that your video driver and Direct-X are up to date, though it's doubtful that this is relevant. https://www.nch.com.au/kb/10265.html And under OPTIONS | EDITING tab toggle this item ON or OFF to see whether that helps. "Use Hardware Accelerated Graphics" Grasping at straws.
  12. Good enough. That system should be more than capable or handling this file. And that you were unsuccessful on yet another PC compounds the mystery. If folks cannot replicate the problem they cannot fix it. 🤔
  13. Only one version can be installed at a time. WHY only you have experienced this is a mystery, but it will be investigated. If v8.77 didn't succeed for you earlier it likely won't now...it will replace 7.51 which, for the moment, may be your best bet. You can also test this newer version 8.63, which has proven stable. What are the specifications of your PC - CPU, GPU, amount of RAM?
  14. Baffling. Loads normally into v8.63 (unlicensed) and v8.77 (licensed) on both high- and low-end PCs here. Under OPTIONS | DISK tab, where is the cache file pointing? Do other, smaller files load? As a test, download and install this version. Ignore any virus prompts.
  15. What version of Videopad is being run? Download and install this release. Of course. Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. Then you can restore a project to the state it was in when saved. Just double-click the VPJ file (which isn't playable).
  16. What are your export settings? Try this version. Ignore any virus warning. Some earlier releases had export audio issues, but not reported in v8.7x. Let's see your project. Upload and share it, or send it to me via personal message. Here's how...
  17. Just a user, like yourself, here. No doubt NCH will honor your license. https://www.nch.com.au/support/reg.html Suggest again that you test VP on another PC. Don't recall this issue being seen in the past, and it was relayed to the developers. One more test. Install this version. Ignore any virus warnings. Please report back.
  18. There are no UI font change options and the old interface is no longer available. https://www.nch.com.au/general/refund.html Of course, you can always revert to your prior version. The installer is likely in this folder... "C:\Program Files (x86)\NCH Software\VideoPad" or perhaps "C:\Program Files\NCH Software\VideoPad" It is also available on line. Edited just now by borate
  19. Can't replicate that here. Tested on two PCs with different VP versions. The file loaded normally. Using Windows Explorer (the file manager), right-click on the C:\ drive and click PROPERTIES. Then click on DISK CLEANUP. Uncheck any items you don't want cleared, but leave the Temporary Files item checked. Then click on OK. How much space is available on that drive? Try another PC, if possible.
  20. Haven't spotted any specifics on that. At the start of the trial more tracks and certain features may be available for a time. For the YouTube, home video, gamer demo crowd, VP is a full-featured and versatile NLE. Give it a workout before purchase to be certain that it does what YOU need.
  21. Using the version linked above, your file loaded fine here; took about five minutes to fully cache. Tested a low-res export and it was normal. To eliminate possible VP corruption try an uninstall with this free tool. Uninstall all the registry entries that it finds as well. Then reinstall VP. Any better?
  22. Nothing should be lost. Routinely Save Project File AS, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. Then you can restore a project to the state it was in when saved. Just double-click the VPJ file (which isn't playable). Download and install this version and see if it solves the export issue. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Suggest that you stabilize source videos prior to editing, not globally by reloading the export as a clip. Report results here.
  23. If the current version will accept your code, Click the Menu item at the top-left and scroll down to re-register. If not, suggest that you install and run this stable version, which was released within your grace period, so registration should succeed. Ignore any virus warnings. Licensing status has nothing t do with the mp4 issue. Let's see that file. Upload it to a free server, get a shareable link and post it here or in a private message (click the folder at the top-right of this window). Someone will check it out. If uploading to Google Drive, click Get Shareable Link, then change the 'restricted' status to Anyone Can View.
  24. The unlicensed version is a trial. Expect the usual requests to buy. Some effects, features, export formats won't be available. AVI export usually succeeds. If there comes a time when no export formats are available - perhaps an ultimatum - uninstalling via Control Panel | ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS may give the option to downgrade to the 'free' version. VP basic functions will continue to function indefinitely. While you can always test drive the latest without charge, it's best to license the program. Updates are free for up to six-months from date of purchase. The program is under continuous development. Occasional glitches are quickly addressed, and folks in this forum are helpful.
  25. Under OPTIONS | DISK tab Clear Unused Cache Files. Restart the program and try the mp4 load once again. Use the latest version, if possible. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
