  1. That is generally correct. However, there may be occasions when a feature that you want to use requires files or a component to be installed, such as when accessing Clip Art or Stock Sounds. In that case a connection is required.
  2. The stub installer, which quickly downloads from the Net, runs about 3MB. The 32-bit program runs locally on a 32- or 64-bit PC. Ample caching space is the main concern for disk size, and an SSD is recommended. Caching options include... Cache Cache folder - Specify a drive and folder where you want to store cached data. (The C:\ drive default is normally fine.) Clear Unused Cache Files - Press this button to delete all cache files which are currently not in use. Warn me when free disk space goes below (MB)
  3. What version of Videopad is being used? For your Skype video, try adding the Aspect Ratio Letterbox effect. In the drop-down box, choose 9:16. If that doesn't do the job, please post a link to the project. Someone will check it out. This is easy, quick and can be private. Just follow these steps... With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. Locate the saved, numbered folder, NOT the exported or VPJ file. Upload it to a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* Get a shared, public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. Change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view" Then click COPY LINK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum and privately message it to me. It won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
  4. Let's take a look at the file that doesn't display. Please upload it to a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, get a public (shareable) link, copy the link and paste it here. Someone will check it out.
  5. Tried Prism? https://www.nchsoftware.com/prism/index.html
  6. The GoPro file plays and exports just fine here in 8.96, so cannot replicate the issue. Try a reinstall. Also be certain that your video drivers and Direct-X are up-to date... https://www.nch.com.au/kb/10265.html
  7. You uploaded only the VPJ control file, a single jpg and the Butler 2.wmv, which is corrupt. Content of that file is 1:22:00, but its length is listed as 22 HOURS, 15 minutes, which is likely the cause of the sound processing issue. It also isn't color locked, displaying purple and green horizontal bars throughout. This has nothing to do with VP, and may have occurred during VHS transfer. The audio issue should be fixed shortly, though the original take a long time to load due to its 22 hour length. A test in version 8.97+ succeeded.
  8. Take a minute to share the project, either here or in private. Someone will check it out and, likely, suggest a quick fix.
  9. Please see the above answer. Upgrades are not mandatory. If your licensed version is doing the job for you, stick with it. It will continue to work. NCH test/trial policy is generous. Most features are available, at least during the trial period, and exports have no watermark, unlike some other editors.
  10. When a free stock audio file is downloaded (click the button) it appears under the audio tab in Videopad. It's also stored in this path... "C:\Users\<PCname>\AppData\Roaming\NCH Software\Stock\Audio\" From there the file can be copied, moved, played with any media utility.
  11. Of course. ADD any legit sound file - mp3, wav, wma, etc. - and it will pop up under the Audio tab in the bin. Double-click to preview it there, or drop it onto the timeline.
  12. Upgrades are free for up to six months after the purchase of a license. But you're not stuck. Reinstall your purchased version and, if necessary, re-register with your code. It will continue to work as always. The installer is normally saved to this PC path... "C:\Program Files (x86)\NCH Software\VideoPad" (or a similar path without the (x86). If you cannot find it there, download it from here. Ignore virus prompts. ANY VP version can be test driven without a license, but features will be limited.
  13. What is the length of the production? What is the resolution and size of the bulk of the source files? What are the export settings? Answer those questions and share the project. Someone will be glad to check it out. This is easy, quick and can be private. Just follow these steps... 1. With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. 2. Locate the saved, numbered folder, NOT the exported or VPJ file. Upload it to a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* 3. Get a shared, public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. Change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view" Then click COPY LINK | DONE. 4. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum and privately message it to me. It won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server. Here's a small utility that puts an icon in the taskbar notification area (bottom-right), which when clicked ON will prevent sleep. Very handy. File a suggestion with NCH to implement 'wake-lock' coding that prevents sleep when Videopad is running. https://www.nch.com.au/suggestions/index.html?software=VideoPad
  14. Yes. each track is stereo.
  15. What VP version is being run? Look at the start-up screen or the VP window left-bottom corner. Here is the latest. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. What is the format (file type) of these videos? Share one if possible and someone will check it out. Just upload it to a free server, such as MS OneDrive or Google Drive, make it public, copy the shared link and post that link here or privately to me in a Personal Message. If using Google Drive, be sure to change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view."
  16. To be precise where new content is being overlaid, use the buttons (or <Shift>+<Right or Left> shortcuts to have the scrubber (red-line) land at the joint between clips. Then right-click the new clip in the bin and OVERLAY ON SEQUENCE AT CURSOR. That way, the overlay should be just above the intended clip. If this doesn't do the job, what version of VP is being used? Upgrade to the latest. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
  17. If you simply installed the unregistered trial version, there's nothing more that you need to do. If you paid money, try the two links above, and the links that they contain, to get in touch with NCH.
  18. Place the scrubber (red-line) where you want the new content dropped in. To locate the precise split point between clips use the buttons under the preview window or shortcut keys. In the bin, right-click the new clip and PLACE ON SEQUENCE AT CURSOR. Another approach.... Select all clips to the right of where the new one is to be added, then drag them to the right. Don't press <ctrl>. If they snap back, hold down <alt> while dragging. Drop the new clip into the gap that is created. If there's a gap left over, right-click in it and CLOSE GAP, To select all those clips, click on the first one, hold down <ctrl> and click on the last. All clips in that range will be highlighted.
  19. If the clips were imported from the PC into Videopad and the project was subsequently saved, then VP should know where they are. When reloading a project, if VP can't find clips it will prompt the have them manually located. Have never witnessed 'red exclamation points or triangles' here. Take a screen shot, upload it to a free server, get a shareable (public) link, copy the link and post it here. Perhaps that will jog someone's memory. Of course. Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. Then you can restore a project to the state it was in when saved. Just double-click the VPJ file (which isn't playable).
  20. Let's see the video of you. Upload a brief sample to a free server, such as MS OneDrive or Google Drive, make it shareable (public), get a link and share that here or in a Personal Message to me, where it won't be seen by others. Click the envelope at the top-right of this forum and search for "borate." Addressed in a private message.
  21. If a link is broken, tie audio to video by selecting both, then right-clicking on either and GROUP SELECTED CLIPS.
  22. They all work. Select the text in the editor box first, then make the "doesn't work" changes.
  23. Try using the REPLACE instead of the APPEND icon.
  24. Export using mp4 instead of AVI. What version of VP is being run? Upgrade to the latest VP version, which may solve the issue. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
