  1. Is the vanishing audio linked to the video that is being cut? That would explain it. If it's not linked, then cutting the video should have no affect on the audio. Pressing the L key to make a split also won't delete audio - it simply creates a split on all tracks.
  2. Interesting. Share the project and someone will come up with an answer. This is easy, quick and can be done privately. Just follow these four steps... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. Upload --- Locate the saved, numbered folder, NOT the exported or VPJ file. Upload it to a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* Get link --- Get a shared, public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. Change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view" Click COPY LINK | DONE. Share --- Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me. It won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server. You might also install the latest version. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
  3. Right-click the clip in the bin or the audio track of the clip on the timeline and Save Audio Clip As New File. It will be a WAV file, under the AUDIO tab, and also be saved to the MUSIC folder (the default) on the PC.
  4. What version of VP is being used? For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. AVI export usually persists with the 'free' version. The one in use here which is months old still has that capability. Are these actually subtitles - via the subtitle editor - or text clips? If the former, the timings (left window) do not change. That's where the titles will be inserted. If that latter, text clips should not spontaneously move - they never have here nor has this been reported. They're just clips, like any other. However, making changes to audio or video clips may alter their position. To avoid changes in the text overlay track, right-click at its left and LOCK TRACK. Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. Then you can restore a project to the state it was in when saved. Just double-click the VPJ file (which isn't playable). When a project is saved it will restore exactly as it was when saved, so your step #6 above is a puzzlement?? As for crashing... https://www.nch.com.au/kb/10265.html A crash here is rare.
  5. AVI should do it. If not available, reinstall. https://www.nchsoftware.com/videopad/vpsetup.exe
  6. <Shift-right/left arrow> keys jumps the scrubber from clip edge to edge - duplicating the buttons under preview. Click the AUDIO tab, then in the audio track. Click the SCRUBBING button on the toolbar. The left/right arrow keys can be used in lieu of the preview buttons. Right-click on the audio track. EDIT IN WAVEPAD is often - but not always - available. Click it to launch WP, make changes, then click the X and SAVE to exit. The changes will automatically be applied to the Videopad clip, and the edited clip will appear under the AUDIO tab. Press <ctrl-Z> several times to revert to the unedited audio. Click the AUDIO tab, then the ADD STOCK SOUND button. Many free sounds and music can be downloaded. (But not video effects.) http://help.nchsoftware.com/help/en/videopad/win/content_soundeffectlibrary.html Though the version # may be the same, each time VP is installed there are subtle UI differences. One of those is the placement of the pop up, which may appear as vertical or horizontal. Reinstall repeatedly until it does. This is my preference... Try this... https://www.nch.com.au/suggestions/index.html?software=VideoPad
  7. The 'free' trial edition has limitations - one being exporting in some formats. Try AVI. It usually succeeds. If not, either purchase or come back here for more info.
  8. Odd indeed. Clear Unused Cache Files, under OPTIONS | DISK tab. Please share your project. It's easy, quick and can be done privately. Just follow these four steps, and someone will check it out... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. Upload --- Locate the saved, numbered FOLDER, NOT the VPJ file or the export.
  9. That behavior is likely normal, as this is an animation. No harm in filing a suggestion... https://www.nch.com.au/suggestions/index.html?software=VideoPad If you must do it with a 'snap' use a capture utility to grab the preview screen. Then overlay that grab at the appropriate spot in the animation. Hardly worth the effort, but it can succeed...
  10. Expand the timeline if necessary and click the X in the text clip. Program a Fade or Crossfade. That should do what you want.
  11. Did you use version 6.10 throughout the edit, or did you switch to another release? Save Project Files by clicking the SAVE button on the toolbar overwrites the older VPJ file. Instead, click the chevron to the right of the button and choose Save Project File AS, giving it a unique # or name. That will not overwrite the earlier file. Do this often, so various steps in the project build can be restored if necessary. Yes, files on video tracks are being seen as AUDIO. Yet when the same file is independently added it is correct. Very strange behavior never before reported. At this juncture, it might be best to install a recent VP version and simply, if painfully, reconstruct the earlier section. If unlicensed, certain features - such as effects and some export formats - may not be available. But most are. If no export format is available come back here. But, in any case, regularly SAVE AS and do not move the source files.
  12. Individual mp4 files load both video and audio. This hints that the VPJ control file, made when the project was saved, was not saving all tracks. Did you unintentionally hide or solo a track/s? Use 6.10 for both editing and exporting. OR a recent version. Mixing them can result in incompatibilities. Clear Unused Cache Files, under OPTIONS | DISK tab before starting a new project or, in this case perhaps, restoring a project. Reimport your mp4 files and verify that they all show up on the timeline. In the bin now there is but a single video file - Homer bush. Once that's done, be sure that all tracks are active, then Save Project File AS. Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. Then you can restore a project to the state it was in when saved. Just double-click the VPJ file (which isn't playable). Audio needs work: some track 3 content is overriding your narration. There is no video whatsoever from 3:09 to 6:13.
  13. Let's see the project. Someone will come up with the answer. The process is easy, quick and can be private. Just follow these steps one-by-one... Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
  14. Size isn't the issue. The project is corrupt because Color and Auto effects were added to Sequences 1 and 2. Add those effects only on the timeline. There also were two "title here" extraneous text files on upper Sequence 1 tracks. Corrections were made and the project burned as it should in Express Burn.
  15. Look at the start-up screen or the left-bottom of the VP window. What version does it list? Try this one. If problems persist please share a file or two that won't display. Upload it to a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, make it shareable (public), get a link and post that link here or in a Personal Message to me via the envelope at the right-top of this forum. We'll take a look.
  16. Glad you sorted it out. The order in which effects are applied can be important.
  17. What Videopad export format was used to output your project - mp4, AVI, MOV? We assume that you want the result to display on any DVD player. Seeing the file list isn't really useful. What's needed is the actual project that was created with Videopad. Share it, and someone will check whether it can be successfully burned. As noted earlier, Videopad can burn a simple DVD movie directly without the need for Express Burn. The sharing process is simple, quick and can be private. Just follow these steps carefully... Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
  18. More information needed. What version of VP is being used? How long is the project? What is the resolution of the bulk of the source files? Let's take a look at the project, to see if others can replicate the issue. It's easy, quick, and can be private. Just follow these four steps... With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. Locate the saved, numbered folder, NOT the exported or VPJ file. Upload it to a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* Get a shared, public link. Using mask

    Scaling a masked overelay... https://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/33414-scaling-a-masked-overlay-not-possible/?tab=comments#comment-90882
  20. 6.10 is very dated, and architecture has been changed. That's why it is recommended to edit and export with the same - or closely to the same - version. Newer versions can be used without licensing, though some features may be unavailable. But full compatibility with your older construct isn't assured. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. As you've noted, the older licensed release doesn't expire. Never should a project be scrubbed if you regularly Save Project Files AS, giving them a unique # or name, so as to not overwrite old saves. Using Save Project Files will do that. Don't abandon your work; let folks here help. UHD resolution large files are at times problematic - slow editing / missing export elements. It may help to break a project into exported segments - later to be merged. Project layout matters. Generally speaking, for any editor, the fewer tracks and effects the better. Proxy editing, a common approach when there is marginal hardware, large files or a slow server, can make the UI more responsive. Projects should always display in full on the timeline. Your reference to not seeing them, and intermittently vanishing audio or video is a puzzlement. Video editing is resource intensive, so hardware can be a factor. Be sure that the video driver and Direct-X are up to date. https://www.nch.com.au/kb/10265.html Someone here will be glad to check out what's going on if you share. It's easy, quick and can be done privately. Just follow these few steps carefully ... 21. Tests here used the version that you are using, but you can re-download and over-install simply by clicking the link above. The audio in the linked sample is clean. What you are hearing is the two sources very slightly out of sync - confirming that both are being heard during the test. Text is not shifted from the audio in the export... The first text begins to fade up at :22 in both VP and the export. The last text fades out at 4:33 in both, so the titles are not offset. The mp4/H264/15fps export was made at the 'auto-match' suggested resolution of 1800x1272, which resulted in a 21MB file. This hints at a local issue. You might test the export on another PC, if available. Sorry that the oddity couldn't be replicated here.
  22. Dead-on here, using version 8.96. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Use the linked version. You also might try an export at the default mp4 settings, but tic the Letterbox dot instead of Stretch.
  23. Looks to me as if it blends the BG with the insert. This insert is a transparent PNG, so it had no content other than the face, overlaid on a green background. If using a JPG, then it is going to blend the cut-out with the remainder of the image. At least that's the way it appears to work. Nat may chip in with a better take on this.
  24. What version of VP is being used? Here's the latest. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. The export text overlay should appear precisely at the same spot it was placed on the timeline. If not, please share a project with the issue. This is easy, quick and can be private. Here are the step-by-step instructions...
