  1. Lock tracks that aren't to be affected. Right-click at the left of the track. If content is linked audio/video, then locked either will lock them both. Selecting, then grouping selected clips, should move them all when dragged. Does here.
  2. Glad it worked out. The newest version (8.94) should succeed as well.
  3. Test the newer version. Or try this one. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
  4. You did not mention what VP version is being used. Export from the current release at 1080 looks and sounds just fine.

    Sound only

You should not have to convert the file to MOV. Share it here and someone will check it out. Upload it to a free server, such as Google Drive, get a shareable (public) link and post that link here or as a private message (via the folder at the top-right of this forum). If using Google, click on "restricted" and change it to "anyone can view." That said, file converters are available. https://www.nchsoftware.com/prism/index.html
  6. Erratic on the timeline or only at export? What are the export settings? Have you tried exporting at sightly lower resolution? You might test this release. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. THE best way to demonstrate the issue is to share the project. This is easy, takes little time and can be private. Folks here will help; fixes often come quickly. Follow these steps, and we'll take a look... 1. With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. 2. Locate the saved, numbered folder. No need to upload the export or VPJ files. Upload it to a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* 3. Get a shared, public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. Change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view" Then click COPY LINK | DONE. 4. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum and privately message it to me. It won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
  7. x264enc7 related info... https://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/24359-error-while-trying-to-export-video/?_fromLogin=1 https://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/24552-lossless-mp4-failed-unknown-error-downloads-x264enc7/ AFAIK, if you delete the file it will reinstall as needed by export. Your assumption on caching is correct. Clearing Unused Cache Files should delete them all if the program has been restarted, with nothing loaded. Thereafter, the green line will progress slowly when a project is loaded...unless it's a tiny project. Then the line may complete quickly. Install the latest version. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
  8. Nothing is gone. LinkA replied to a thread that wasn't relevant ("just lost everything") to his issue ("no export video"). The query has been split off under a new thread with a title that describes the topic: "Images and sound but no video." Your response is included.
  9. Green caching lines will appear over video (not still image) tracks. There may also be a grey line under the preview window. Once all are complete, scrolling should be smooth. Be sure that your video driver and Direct-X are up to date. https://www.nch.com.au/kb/10265.html Toggle the "use hardware acceleration" box in OPTIONS | EDITING tab to see if there's a performance change. Please share the project that exhibits this behavoir and someone will check it out. It's easy, quick and can be private. Follow these steps... 1. With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. 2. Locate the saved, numbered folder. It won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
  10. How long is the project? What is the resolution of the bulk of the source files? What are the export settings? Have you tried exporting at a lower resolution? Someone here will be glad to suggest or make a fix if you take a few minutes to share your project. It's easy to do and can be private. Just follow these steps... 11. In recent VP releases the sound cache is a subfolder of the Videopad cache. Try browsing to the desired path, then click OK. Restart VP.
  12. File a suggestion with specifics - perhaps point to this thread. https://www.nch.com.au/suggestions/index.html?
  13. Each time VP is closed it will prompt to SAVE, unless that's already been done. Of course. Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. If the source files have not been moved or deleted, clicking a VPJ file (which isn't playable) should load the project into VP in the same state as when the file was created. As Uberprutser notes, there may also be back-up VPJ files. Search the disk for them. Two things to try: reboot, and reinstall VP. There's no logical reason why a VPJ file should not be valid.
  14. Did you BROWSE to the new path? Make it something simple, like this. VP will create the Videopad Cache folder there...
  15. If there's a tiny double-chevron at the top-right of the toolbar, click it. That may reveal an OPTIONS menu. You forgot to change 'restricted' to 'anyone can view' in Google Drive. When that's done, others will be able to access your files.
  16. Your doubts are misplaced. Developers are well aware of how VP functions. GPU for hardware en/decoding will be used more extensively in the future. See https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/gaming/resources/how-to-fix-high-cpu-usage.html and note this quote: "You can expect high CPU utilization when playing some games, running a video-editing or streaming application..."
  17. Won't be able to check on a MAC here, but we'll see what the PC does. Did you Clear Unused Cache Files, under the OPTIONS menu | DISK tab? Did you reboot? Try that. Though five files did come through, most of your links reported "in the trash" or "owner prevented download." We need the whole package. Here's what to do... Have the completed project on the timeline. Click the Menu item at the top-left of the window, click FILE, click BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO A FOLDER. That will result in a numbered/dated folder - likely a subfolder in your DOWNLOADS folder. Upload that folder to Google Drive. Be sure to change 'restricted' to 'anyone can view' and copy the shareable link. Post that single link here.
  18. It may be bumping up against the memory limits of 32-bit technology. Tough to analyse without seeing it. A 64-bit version will be along one day, which should handle UHD and lengthy projects more readily.
  19. If that's your project consisting of five-hours of source material... https://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/26563-proxy-editing/
  20. We're talking different things here. There are several ways to add a project's files to an existing project. What was suggested above is to simply break your very source-heavy effort into parts, export each, then import those exports (they're just clips) to create the final. Say you made five exports. Import them, merge them on the timeline, export again. Might not save time in the long run, but it may lessen processing load and be less prone to export glitches. Dealing at once with five-hours of content - especially if it's effect/transition heavy or the source files are HD - is a lot to ask. This is likely related to your "generating preview" post. But that is only my opinion.
  21. If a project has been cached, and the cache has not been cleared, it should load quickly. But five hours is a lot to ask of a 32-bit program (or perhaps even 64-bit). It might go better if broken up into five hour-long exports or ten half-hours, which can be later merged. Each export becomes a single, composited clip, so very little processing is needed, and each part may require fewer source files to create. A thought...
  22. If you want to create a gap somewhere in the middle of the timeline click the first clip that you want to move, hold down <shift> and click the last. Then drag those clips to the right. If they snap back, press <alt> while dragging.
  23. What version of VP is being used? Install this one. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. If that doesn't resolve the issue, someone here will. Share your project by uploading it to a free server. It's easy, quick and can be private. Follow these four steps... 1. With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. 2. Locate the saved, date-numbered folder. Upload it - NOT the VPJ or export file - to a free server. Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* 3. Get a shared, public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. Change 'restricted' to 'anyone with the link can view.' Then click COPY LINK | DONE. 4. Paste that link here, or click the folder, above top-right in this forum, and message it to me. 25. What version? Look at the start-up screen or the bottom-left of the VP window. This is the version that created the project? Advise that you install this release. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. If the issue persists, please share the project. Someone here will check it out. The process is simple, quick and can be private.
