  1. Keep in mind that subtitles, as described in my reply, and text clips, as outlined by Nat, are two different things.
  2. This was reportedly fixed in version 8.18. Using the latest, stacking two clips of identical length, only the overlay displays upon export, whether or not there is an adjacent clip that follows on track one. No flash or blink at head or tail.
  3. When starting a new project, click OPTIONS | DISK tab and Clear Unused Cache Files. You can use this at any time during editing. If returning to the most recent project do not clear the cache. Be sure that the caching disk (usually C:\) has ample free space, or direct the cache folder to a drive that does, at the bottom of the same screen. The cache contains small files that speed up editing. When loading content, allow the green cache line to complete. Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. That AS choice is available via the MENU | FILE drop-down or, when the HOME tab is active, by clicking the chevron to the right of the Save Project button. If Videopad becomes sluggish, try the 64-bit version, which is capable of handling more complex and lengthy projects.
  4. Subtitles appear to be working fine in the current version. Unlicensed or not, it works the same. From the HOME tab, click the Subtitles icon on the the toolbar. Create a subtitle, click ADD and so forth. Click APPLY. Subs don't appear on a timeline track. To reposition or edit them, open the subtitle editor once again. http://help.nchsoftware.com/help/en/videopad/win/content_subtitles.html
  5. If speed changes run into problems, pre-produce them as an exported clip (possibly from another sequence), then insert the clip into the project. Can't analyse the 'overlap' issue without seeing the project. It's unclear what's meant by "end to a single layer."
  6. Tested a number of speed changes on video and still image clips, with cross fades, and could not replicate your results. Smooth. What version of VP is being used? Add the transition after setting the speed effect. Upload the project that does this and someone will check it out. The process is easy, quick and can be done privately. Just follow these steps... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file. Get link --- Get a public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view" Share --- Click COPY LINK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me. It won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
  7. You can always revert to the purchased version, and there's that six-month update-for-free window. No mandate to update if everything works well. What's the "shutter speed" you're referring to and what type of files are out of sync? Does it show up on the timeline or only after export? What version is being used? Newer releases do not affect the performance of older versions.
  8. Precisely how is video being captured - what software, hardware, wiring? What VP version is being used? Here's the latest. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
  9. Text that is normally placed on a higher (overlay) track and moving it will not affect other tracks. If it is on the same track as video clips then it's just another clip and, as with any video/audio clip, shifting it could affect other clips or tracks dependent upon the circumstance. Holding down <alt> may prevent this. If other tracks are being affected unintentionally, lock them by right-clicking in the area to the left of the track. If an adjustment isn't what you want, immediately click <ctrl-Z> to backtrack, step-by-step. Consider exporting a section of the project that is good, then begin anew working on the next. The exports become clips which can be merged for final export. Of course, routinely Save AS each section. Without seeing the project privately (no one else will view it) it's tough to pin down specifics.
  10. While the 8.x series is dated, its performance should not deteriorate. And newer releases may not be fully backwards compatible. Try a reinstall, after rebooting your PC. Newer versions can always be test driven, to assess new features and quirks. Just retain your registration info and 8.x installer. If you don't have it handy look under "C:\Program Files (x86)\NCH Software\VideoPad". It can also be downloaded on line. Share your project and point on specific trouble spots. Someone will check it out. The process is easy, quick and can be done privately. Just follow these steps... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. 11. The issues you describe are unique. To eliminate possible component corruption, close VP, then use Windows Explorer (the file manager)delete all the files in these two folders - . "C:\Program Files (x86)\NCH Software\Components" (or similar path without the X86). "C:\Users\<PC name>\AppData\Roaming\NCH Software\Components" Reboot, then install the current version or any other that you have on hand. You may even be able to register if it's within the six-month grace period for free updates. If you need an older release, look here. Download the version that was originally purchased. And, as mentioned earlier, someone will cut the video for you if you provide the precise cut times.
  12. Use these buttons to place the red cursor line at the precise junction between clips. Then right-click on the Bin clip and PLACE CLIP ON SEQUENCE AT CURSOR. All clip to the right will shift in concert. Another method to drag multiple clips is to first select (highlight) them all. Select the first, hold down <shift> and select the last.
  13. Each install of the same version randomly enables certain features. If you see the Templates or Wizard icon on the Home toolbar with NO chevron at its right, then you have the release with the new feature. Click the icon. If instead there's a chevron to the right, that's the old Templates layout. Just reinstall repeatedly until the chevron vanishes. There's no need to re-download.
  14. If the clip's audio and video are linked they will stay in sync when edits are made. If a clip is unlinked, select the tracks and right-click on one. GROUP them. A clip on the timeline can be right-clicked, then SHOW ORIGINAL CLIP chosen. This will highlight the source clip in the Bin. Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. Then, if things go away, you can step back to an earlier edit just by clicking the appropriate VPJ file.
  15. Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. Then you're protected, and can step back to earlier edits just by clicking the appropriate VPJ file. Click the chevron to the right of the Save Project button to see the AS choice. There's no stated length limit. What version of Videopad is being used? Try the latest. This release is 64-bit and better handles large projects. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
  16. No other reports of this. They blink in the BIN (top-left)? Try two things... Install the latest version. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Confirm that the video card and Direct-X are up to date... https://www.nch.com.au/kb/10265.html Report back.

    Slow Motion

50% slo-mo on a scenic video using 10.18 looks good. The frame rate will be what is specified for export.
  18. Loaded your AVI with highly clipped audio into four VP versions. All but 10.12 played it. But there's only a single track/channel, as confirmed by Media Info. Here's the latest 64-bit release.
  19. Upload the file (or files) that have the issue and someone will look into it. Use a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, get a shared (public) link, copy the link and paste it here or to me in a Private Message via the mail envelope in the top-right corner of this forum. Using Google Drive, if necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view." Here is the latest release. Give it a go. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
  20. Makes no sense. Expand the timeline, create the two splits (at start and end of the content to be deleted), press DEL. Then right-click in the gap and CLOSE GAP. Works for Nat, and in all my tests here. But if it simply won't work for you, do give us the cut points and we'll take care of it. Thanks.
  21. The 6x series is dated. In the latest version there doesn't appear to be an aberation effect, but individual colors can be controlled with Color Curves. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
  22. Should work. The left and right arrow keys jump frame by frame. If <shift> is added, they jump clip by clip.
  23. A little update to this dated thread... When a sequence is dropped into another sequence, it becomes a single clip but the audio track is now shown.
  24. What's the format of the files that have the issue? What version of VP is being used? Upgrade to the latest. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Report back if the issue isn't solved.
  25. The slider, at the bottom-right of the window. Move it to the right for more precise increments.
