  1. Releases, by the same #, do occasionally change. The copy downloaded a few days ago may not be the exactly the same as that available today. Suggest that 10.16 not be installed until the root of your issue is discovered. Try 10.15, which was a stable release under somewhat different architecture. Still, doubt that this is going to help, as your old 7.03 is lame. While an existing app may not "deteriorate" it can conceivably become corrupted, as can the Windows O/S on occasion. Refreshing it is another thought.
  2. Tough to say why only VP is bogging down, but others have not reported that here. And my test with 7.03 is normal - response is instantaneous. So it's doing it "for some reason" but that reason doesn't appear to be the program itself. Download a fresh copy... http://www.oldversiondownload.com/oldversions/videopad-7-03-2019-02-26.exe
  3. Click the Sequence tab, above the preview window. That gives snapshot of sequence option. Clicking MENU | FILE, then the Clip or Sequence item also has a "freeze frame" choice.
  4. Well, if you have tried most suggestions above, then another PC would be the next test. The issue doesn't seem to be Videopad; it doesn't change. Reinstalling should purge the cache, but this can be done manually under OPTIONS | DISK tab, Clear Unused Cache Files. You might try this free utility to more thoroughly uninstall. Select all registry entries that it finds as well, then reboot and reinstall - perhaps the above linked 10.12 release.
  5. Preview res is based on monitor. You can, however, change the size of the preview window by dragging the white bar shown below. Hi-res screenshots of preview or sequence are available via a right-click in the preview area...
  6. In Videopad, click OPTIONS | DISK tab and Clear Unused Cache Files. Go to https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx Type in your driver and operating system version. Then install the latest game ready driver. If issues arise, right-click the start button, click Device Manager then double-click Display Adapter | Driver tab. Roll back to the earlier driver.
  7. Update the video driver and Direct-X, if necessary. https://www.nch.com.au/kb/10265.html Try reinstalling Videopad. Test the latest version or this recent version. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Any better?
  8. While using 7.03, you say that things changed That hints at something amiss with your PC. What are its specs: CPU, GPU/video adapter, RAM, free space on C:? Try these measures... Update the video driver and Direct-X, if necessary. https://www.nch.com.au/kb/10265.html Confirm that the drive is free of errors. In the W10 search box (bottom-left) type COMMAND <enter>. At the right click RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR. In the black box that appears type chkdsk c: At the end of this quick process it should report "Windows has scanned the file system and found no problems." No further action is required. If it does report issues, run this command: chkdsk c: /F This could take some time and require a reboot. In Windows Explorer (the file manager) right-click the C drive and click PROPERTIES. Click Disk Cleanup. Close all other programs while running Videopad. Test this Videopad 10.12 version. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. When invoking effects with <alt-V> expect a slight delay the first time it's used after an install. Thereafter the efx window should pop up immediately. The shortcut to drop a clip from the bin to the timeline is <ctrl-W>. <ctrl-shift-V) brings up the text editor. Test Videopad on another PC, if available. It's not inconceivable that the PC has been compromised with a virus. Please report your findings here.
  9. In the interim, use this tool to extract audio. In current VP versions add the result to a new audio track, immediately underneath the original.
  10. What version of VP is being used? (Look at the left-bottom of the window). Try the latest. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. If the issue persists share a file or two that is out of sync. It's easy to do, takes little time and can be private. Someone will analyse it and come up with a fix. Upload the file/s to a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, get a shared (public) link, copy the link and paste it here or to me in a Private Message via the mail envelope in the top-right corner of this forum. Using Google Drive, if necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view."
  11. The link above leads to the 64-bit version. Click the MENU at the upper-left of the VP window, click HELP | ABOUT...
  12. Some VOB files, loaded into 10.16, have no audio. Confirmed and reported.
  13. It is available on the download page - at times - as it's being phased in. https://www.nchsoftware.com/download/videopadsetup64.exe
  14. Version 7.11 is dated. Suggest you update to the current release which you should be able to use unlicensed, with some limitations. If mp4 export doesn't succeed, use AVI. You might also test this version, which was released within the six-month free upgrade grace period and should accept your registration info. Normally, exporting with the same version or one close in time to the one that created the video is the best policy. If no success, take a minute to share the project and someone here will come up with the fix. It's easy, quick, and can be private. Follow these steps closely... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file. Get link --- Get a public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view" Share --- Click COPY LINK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me. It won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
  15. Very good. Considering the archival VHS quality, a Debut capture might be the quickest route.
  16. Ran tests on two PCs, two VP releases, and at slightly different resolutions. Other than typical VHS distortion, the exports were clean. Be sure that your video driver is up to date... https://www.nch.com.au/kb/10265.html Try an export on another machine. Thanks for sharing. After those experiments you might enjoy this.
  17. If select files are being handled incorrectly, reimporting isn't going to change things. Make timeline adjustments.
  18. This problem appears to originate with the file import (to the top-left BIN). A gap shouldn't throw off sync if A/V are linked. Editing mistakes can adversely affect an otherwise good clip, but raw clip and timeline sync are normally identical.
  19. Which track, video or audio, that needs adjustment depends upon the clip. Recall that on some, video required a small snip at the head, then the gap was closed. Beware of this unintentionally affecting other clips. Takes some experimentation. Expand the timeline with the slider at the left-bottom to enable more precision. If you make a mistake, immediately press <ctrl-Z> to backtrack, step-by-step. Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite.
  20. Don't recall which clips were out in 10.16 - very few besides the ZOOM session. In 10.12 there were many more. As mentioned, the issue has been confirmed and is being addressed.
  21. Doubtful that sync will be in at export if it was out on the timeline. But give it a go. Just a few clips were out when your original was loaded into 10.16; they were manually adjusted. The seamless result is what you saw in the linked 856x480 export.
  22. The exported file won't be of much help - the fault is apparent. A source file or two should prove useful, to see if the issue can be replicated on a PC or Mac.
  23. Let's take a look at one or two of the files - so we can try to replicate what you see.. Please upload them to a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, get a shared (public) link, copy the link and paste it here or to me in a Private Message via the mail envelope in the top-right corner of this forum. Using Google Drive, if necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view." The latest Mac release is 10.12.
  24. You didn't state the version used on that project. What was the format of the source files? The distortion has been seen, rarely, in older VP versions. It may be related to source file format. For Lossless export settings, choosing RE-ENCODE instead of AUTO DETECT is worth a try. Upgrade to the latest. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. In lieu of missing source files - a project we can check out per the above instructions - use a DVD ripper to make an mp4. A screen recorder should also work. 25. The project had no sync issues in version 10.16 after a few MOV files that were affected had been adjusted. A sync discrepancy with some MOVs has been confirmed and will be fixed. Ran your revised VPJ in 10.16. Ariel, Nick and others were in sync. The ending ZOOM clip was out. There was a glitch or freeze at some dissolves and it's tough to pin down the cause at this juncture. Fixes include removing or shortening the transition, or perhaps using TRANSPARENCY effects instead on the adjacent clips. Good work!
