  1. Unusual. You should never have to redo a project. Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. Then you can restore a project to the state it was in when saved. Just double-click the VPJ file (which isn't playable). Update to the latest version. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. If this doesn't straighten things out, please share your project others can see it just as you do. Issues can often be solved quickly. Sharing isn't difficult, takes little time and can be private. Just follow these four steps... 1. With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. 2. Locate the saved, numbered folder and upload it to a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* (Don't upload the export file or only the VPJ.) 3. Get a shared, public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. Click the blue "Change to anyone with the link..." Then click COPY LINK | DONE. 4. Paste that link here, or click the folder, above top-right in this forum, and message it to me. This is private and won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
  2. A true mystery. The project has exported here in seconds, in various formats, with both v8.63 and 8.77. A YouTube upload also succeeded in < two minutes. Yet you have done a full uninstall and tested those versions, and export fails. This hints that it's not a VP, but a PC issue. Two further suggestions... Install this older version. Ignore any virus warnings. Try to load the project on another PC, if available. See the Personal Message for the revised project.
  3. No export problem with v8.77 here - AVI, mp4, or MKV. However, there were several issues... 1. The text to speech WAV file has an echo. 2. The 00007.MTS file 'rings' when exported (distorted audio). This is a reported bug. Sync was slightly off. To fix it... 1. The WAV file was rerecorded and substituted for the original. 2. The MTS file was exported alone as an AVI with Mp3 audio, then the MTS was replaced by that AVI, and sync was corrected. See your Personal Message for the revised project. If it doesn't export then there is something local to your PC that requires further research. Just tested, and works fine here. Please report back.
  4. Please share your project so others can test it. This is a easy process, takes little time and can be private. Follow these four steps... Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
  5. Exported at mp4 default settings in less than five-seconds here, with audio intact (no one-minute silent leader). Tested it twice, and could not replicate the issue. Does audio play in preview? Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. Then you can restore a project to the state it was in when saved. Just double-click the VPJ file (which isn't playable). Then close the program. Go to this PC folder and delete all files that it contains... "C:\Program Files (x86)\NCH Software\Components" or the same path without (x86). Reinstall the latest VP release. Success?
  6. Click the + sign at the right of the Sequence 1 tab above the timeline. This will create a new, blank sequence. Click the Sequences bin (top-left). Drag Sequence 1 to the blank timeline. Right-click in the timeline VIDEO area (it may still be blank) and Save Sequence Audio As New File. It should appear in the PC's MUSIC folder as Sequence 1.WAV . Upload the file to Google Drive.
  7. That's a new one. Install this version and see if it does the same. Report back.
  8. We will look for it. Reviewing your specs, there should be no issue with that file. Be sure to change the Google link from 'restricted' to Anyone Can View.
  9. Install this version. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Of course, first Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. Then you can restore a project to the state it was in when saved. Just double-click the VPJ file (which isn't playable).
  10. You have tested this effect? 50fps export is available.
  11. What version of VP is being used? Look at the left-bottom corner of the window. Please describe specifically, what actions are you taking? Does the black video show up only in preview, at export, or both? test.mp4
  12. The VPJ file isn't media - it's a control file that saves edit instructions and contains pointers to the source files. An easy way to save the edited audio once changes have been made is to drag it from the timeline to the bin (top-left of the VP window). In the bin, right-click the audio file and Save Audio Clip As New File. It will be saved as a WAV to the MUSIC folder on your PC (unless, under OPTIONS, you have changed the path), and a (1) will be appended to the original file name. Or you can simply do a direct EXPORT to Google Drive.
  13. PAN & ZOOM effect is easy to set: drag the box handles to size and position for START, then do the same for END. Click the Preview box and move the red cursor. There are a dozen presets. ZOOM can be animated. See... http://help.nchsoftware.com/help/en/videopad/win/effects_animating.html Clip speed can be changed via a right-click.
  14. No, you do not have to pay more money. Updates are free for up to six-months from purchase date. If a VP release within that period doesn't work for you due to a confirmed bug the company often extends the license period without charge. What version of VP is being used? Try the update linked above, and register it. Let us know how it goes. And submit your project, so it can be tested.
  15. You have downloaded the export, and the video is mostly just black. We need to see the project as it appears on your timeline, per the instructions above. Just follow those steps and upload/share the project folder that is created when you Back Up Project Files to Folder. Upgrade to this version. That may solve the problem. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
  16. Depends upon how you look at it. Many companies offer 'free' downloads, but disable their product at the end of a trial period. The statement above is true yet the definition of the term admittedly could be more specific NCH policy seems generous by comparison as their trials do not expire. Limitations are to be expected; if the company gave software away they wouldn't still be around after 25 years. Your all-nighter likely isn't relevant. As noted, AVI export often succeeds. If it does not, try the uninstall suggestion above. If that fails, reinstall the version that you linked. It is usually the latest. Licensing is the way to go, and updates are free for six-months from the purchase date. If problems arise, users here - just like you - try to help, and confirmed bugs are quickly addressed.
  17. Could be a YouTube problem? Assume you were attempting a direct upload from VP. Occasionally, due to server load, those fail. Export your video as an mp4 (or any other YouTube approved format) and use their uploader. Let us know how it went. https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/57407?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en If you like, we can test a YouTube direct upload for you. Just share the project and someone will check it out. Here's how... 1. With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. 2. Locate the saved, numbered folder and upload it to a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* (Don't upload the export or just the VPJ file.) 3.
  18. This has nothing to do with the program being licensed. What version of VP is being used? That's listed at start up and at the bottom-left of the VP window. Has a speed change been applied to your project? What are the export settings? Share your project and someone will check it out. This is easy, quick and can be private. Just follow these steps...
  19. You are running a trial release. Some effects/export may not work after that period ends. Try AVI export; it usually succeeds. If VP is uninstalled via Control Panel | ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS it may prompt for a downgrade to 'free', with limitations, but will continue to function. Best bet is to license the program. Discounts are often advertised. You can always install and test-drive the latest version.
  20. An mp4 file will not suffice. The VPJ file is a control file and doesn't contain source files.- it points to them, and stores all editing decisions. Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. Then a project can be restored to the state it was in when saved. If it cannot find the files then they have either been deleted or moved. It will prompt to resolve them. If they are still on the PC, point each 'can't find' prompt to the correct file location. If they aren't on the PC, locate them and put them back - preferably in their original location path. Or try placing them in the same folder as their VPJ file. A good way to store all contents of a project - source files, layout, transitions, effects, and the VPJ - is to click on Menu (top-left), click FILE, then choose BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO A FOLDER. This is a portable folder that can be used to restore the project on any PC that has a VP release installed that is reasonably close to the one that created it..
  21. Yup, wrong link. Now try loading other files into v8.77 and see if they meet the same fate.
  22. Seems fine in v8.77. Here's an overlay of a chromakeyed shot, scaled and shadowed with blue.
  23. No easy answers on this issue, especially since it affects two PCs there; the devs are scratching their heads as well. Makes no sense. Old versions are here. Nothing to lose by checking them out. Do other files (perhaps shorter) load into later VP versions?
  24. Click the + sign at the right of the Sequence 1 tab, to create a new, blank Sequence 2... Lay down the video clip that will be sped up and overlay the stopwatch. Adjust its animation and clip duration to match video length. Click the Sequence 1 tab, to return to the main sequence. Position the cursor where you want to insert the newly created clock clip. Click the Sequences tab in the bin, right-click on Sequence 2 and PLACE ON SEQUENCE AT CURSOR. (Or simply drag the clip to the timeline.) Split-out the segment to be sped up and apply the speed change.
