  1. Share the project, per the above instructions, and someone will check it out.
  2. Yes, both files submitted by PM are out, when viewed in a media player - with #2 far worse. So apparently it's not bookmarks and not DVD creation causing the issue, but the initial transfer itself. Do a test with Debut and see if results are better. Try various output formats. As to your DV query... Ran a test DV format export of a one-minute+ project, which was in sync both in VP and in a video player. Then created a DVD Movie ISO from that file. There's no need to go through the extra step of exporting in DV format. With the project fully loaded, click EXPORT | DVD MOVIE. If you want a video copy, export VIDEO as mp4, AVI, MOV, etc.
  3. Very strange. Reboot your PC. Then, if necessary, use this free tool to purge all traces of Videopad. Delete the registry entries when prompted. Install the latest VP version. If no success come back here.

    Export fails

First suggestion: Update to the latest version. If no change, please share your project. Someone will come up with a fix. It's easy, quick and can be private. Just follow these four steps... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. Upload --- Locate the saved, numbered FOLDER, NOT the VPJ or export file. Upload it to a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* Get link --- Get a public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. Change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view" Click COPY LINK | DONE. Share --- Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me. It won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
  5. Nat's solid suggestions will help you program your next extravaganza with a minimal # of tracks and effects, which lightens the memory load. If export freezes or is missing elements, try a lower resolution or file format, such as AVI. You did not upload "Let It Snow" music. Happy Holidays to the gang!
  6. There's no mandate to upgrade if you're happy with your version. You can always test newer releases, unlicensed and with some limitations. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. If you share your project someone here will see if there are problems, and suggest how to better achieve the desired results. That's the best way to track down issues. This is easy, quick and can be private. Just carefully follow these four steps... 7. What version of Videopad is being used? Look for that info at the bottom-left of the screen or at start up. Please share the file that won't load. Upload it to a free server, such as MS Drive or Google Drive, get a shareable (public) link, copy that link and post it here or message me privately via the envelope at the top-right of this forum. If using Google, click on "restricted" and change that to "anyone with link can view." Problems are usually resolved quickly.
  8. Something is going on there - likely buried deeply in the coding. There's almost always a viable workaround when dealing with these hard to pin down issues. What Nat suggests in the next post is correct, but for unknown reasons doesn't work with this clip (and some others tested here). That said, add the original clip to the bin, trim it with the SET IN and SET OUT buttons, then drop it at the cursor location, using the drop-down menu that appears when clicking the chevron to the right of the ADD button. Only the edited portion of the clip appears on the timeline. It did here, and the clip could then be dragged in the normal manner, for more precise positioning. Depending upon which VP incarnation was installed, <alt> may or may not be needed to prevent snapping.
  9. File a suggestion... http://www.nch.com.au/suggestions/index.html?software Though it certainly wouldn't be practical to SAVE each time an edit is made, do save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. Then the project can be restored to the state it was in when the file was written, simply by double-clicking a VPJ file.
  10. Thanks for the files via PM. What needs to be inspected is the sequence containing the captured content, not the exported ISO. Is the sync problem evident on the timeline, after the capture? Or only after 'burning' the ISO? Without lip-sync slippage can be difficult to assess. Please upload the project from which these ISOs were made, per the above instructions, and someone will check it out.
  11. Some other A/V clips tested here don't exhibit that behavior, interestingly. Bumping the clip to a higher track should free it up for precise positioning. Not an NCH employee here - just a user like you. The oddity has been reported.

    Track markers

Be aware that Videopad can output a mix of all audio tracks in a sequence. It will be a high-quality WAV file.
  13. AVI export format often works on unlicensed copies, when mp4 fails. The downloadable file is definitely available. Try it on the PC. It should play in the window that pops up, and be downloadable via the button in the toolbar. Cute kids, looks good.
  14. "Hold down <shift> to avoid snap" does appear at times when dragging that clip to the right. But it's not functional in this scenario. The easiest way to accomplish your goal is to drag the :37 clip up to track 2, then drag it to the right. Another approach: unlock audio. Then drag will succeed, but audio will be shifted right, leaving a gap. That gap can be closed by right-clicking in the gap area and CLOSE GAP. For reasons not readily apparent the clip seems related to, but not linked to, the audio track. Yes, some inconsistencies. But that's not exclusive to VP. Right now Firefox has an annoying intermittency. If there's an issue that eludes you, describe it fully here and someone will come up with a workaround. Verified bugs are soon addressed.
  15. We'd need more specifics on just what you are attempting and seeing. A drag to the left vs one to the right can behave differently, and <alt> may or may not be needed, as noted earlier. If all clips are to be moved to the right they need first to be selected (or grouped). If a clip is dropped onto another it will split the dropped-upon clip. If it's dropped at a junction it will move later clips to the right. Use the <shift> and right or left arrows to jump from clip to clip. The <shift> anti-SNAP function you mentioned doesn't apply to this. Where, exactly, did you see that reference? It's going to take experimentation to learn how this works, but the same action should have the same result. Share your project, and state exactly what you are attempting, and someone will be glad to chime in here. Sharing is easy, quick and can be private. Just follow these steps... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. Upload --- Upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file. Get link --- Get a public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. Change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view" Click COPY LINK | DONE. 16. That might be one way to think of it. Where video is involved, there must be enough excess (the part that was trimmed) to allow for the transition duration. But the prompt can be avoided by specifying FREEZE as the default transition behavior under OPTIONS | EDITING tab.
  17. Familiarity with the program's workings takes time. But there is a confusing factor. There are several incarnations of Videopad with the same version #. Each has slightly differing behavior and features. It's random which is installed. It can take a number of reinstalls (no need to re-download) to get the preferred behavior. In your version SNAP apparently is the default when dragging clips. Hold down <alt> when dragging and see if that doesn't solve it. In other installs, dragging will leave a gap which can be closed with a right-click | CLOSE GAP. If you'd rather have that behavior, just reinstall until it appears. If further problems arise, this is the place to come for help.
  18. Answer a few questions... what version of Videopad is being used? What is the resolution of the bulk of the source files? What is the export resolution setting? Someone here will be glad to help if you share. It's easy to do and usually solves problems quickly. Just follow these four steps and check back here often... 19. When using the split-screen effect, positioning is best achieved by these controls... If it still doesn't shape up, size and position the image file prior to using split-screen. At times, depending upon aspect ratio and resolution, the Aspect Ratio transforms in the effect box can help. Try Letterbox. There's a drop-down menu. If it still doesn't work, share your project. Someone will chime in to help. It's simple, quick and can be private. Just follow these steps carefully... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. 20. Humm... you should be able to install the 'free' version. It will function, with limitations, for an indeterminate time. AVI export may be available. https://www.nchsoftware.com/videopad/vpsetup.exe But it's best to edit and export with the same version, or a close cousin.
  21. Unlicensed VP versions do have limitations, especially after the trial period ends. But the usual response is a prompt that an effect or feature isn't available w/o licensing. The issues you experienced were likely due to the suggested unnecessarily Ultra High Def (auto-match) export resolution. At 1080 HD all looks great with effects, and should work fine.
  22. That would likely explain it.😁
  23. The upload was fine, but that's not the project. It's appears to be the result, which loads audio and video and can be edited in VP just fine. Save the back up folder, per the instructions above, and upload that. Someone will see if exporting it results in the issue that you encountered.
  24. Your description doesn't appear to mirror what is seen here, as demonstrated in the video above. After clicking the "this/all/selected" etc. the drop-down box closes but focus doesn't change, allowing for leisurely duration and effect settings. In any case, whatever works for you.
  25. Have never seen that type of failure of Google Drive, as long as there is ample space. Keep in mind that Google apps, like mail, all use the same allotment. If necessary, update video drivers and Direct-X. https://www.nch.com.au/kb/10265.html
