  1. Hi MattD, VideoPad is using GPU for image processing(adding effects and transitions) only. Hardware codecs are not used at the moment.
  2. You can display both preview windows like old version by select View > Show Dual Previews from the main menu. If you installed any of the old versions. You should be able to find the installer in the application folder (C:\Program Files\NCH Software\VideoPad). If you can't find the installer for the old version, please contact the support team.
  3. Hi Nat, Thanks for the report. Would it be possible to share the 4G avi file to me so I can investigate?
  4. Hi Nat, Do you have something else running in the background? We've optimized the background thread that creating cache. It will run less intensive if the CPU is busy. If CPU is available, it should runs even fast then before.
  5. This problem only happens with OpenDML extension, which is not completely supported by Microsoft. We've recently upgraded related components and presumably the issue is fixed. @CJPG7: Is it possible the share the file(via Google Drive, One Drive etc.) to us so we can have a close look?
  6. Please try out the latest version (v4.58). Since v4.48, a lot of optimisation has been done to reduce CPU usage. Also most of the video effects are now done in GPU.
  7. Hi, Which version of VideoPad are you using. I think this problem was solved in the latest version.
  8. That's a good idea. Thanks Ivan!
  9. Hi townandy, If selecting the right frame rate to export doesn't solve your problem please try it on the latest version.
  10. Once your project is ready, you can click on the Export button on the tool bar (next to Save Project button). There is downward triangle next to the button which you can click on an display a drop down menu. You can select different distance from the drop down menu.
  11. Only the duration of Image, Text and Bland clips can be changed. If seems that you are trying to change the timing of a video(.avi). If it's a just still frame, make a screenshot of the video and use it as an image clip instead. You can also change the speed to change the duration of the video.
  12. @townandy: Which VideoPad version are using?
  13. We've made some fundamental changes to VideoPad in this version so it took longer then usual to be released. Thank you for the long waiting and we will keep VIdeoPad getting improved!
  14. What's new: We can now overlapping video clips in a transition instead of freeze the video. The option for overlapping clips for transitoins can be found in Options dialog Editing tab. Most of effects and transitions are now done in GPU (hardware accelerated) if avaliable. The option for using the GPU for effects can be found in Options dialog Editing tab. Added option to apply sound crossfading when creating video transition. This option can be found in Options dialog Editing tab. Added support for H.265 encoding(export). Export settings have been revised to produce much better quality output by default. Preview frame rate now can be set to a point number. Improved backup file creating behavior. Fixed: Optimized performance and memory usage when exporting. Fixed unwanted black frame at the end of exported video. Fixed shake effect not work for clips less then one second. Fixed Sound fading in/out does not work properly.
  15. Also try clear the cache: Select Options -> Disk -> Cache ->Clear all cache files on exit. Then restart VideoPad see if the problem still there.
  16. In H.264 encoder, there are two modes to do compression: Quality rate factor will target the visual quality and then choose the minimum bitrate that can produce the result. Target bitrate will target the requested bitrate or file size without much concern about the visual quality. VideoPad haven't expose target bitrate yet. We still evaluating if we should put it in as an option.
  17. As Wikipedia pointed out: Although currently there is no labeling standard.... I think how to stretch the video is up to the player settings. All we have to do with VP is export the video in 720x576 without black bars. It will be the player's option to stretch it or not (e.g. a TV set has multiple options to display 4:3 videos on a widescreen). BTW: You can change pixel aspect ratio in VideoPad by right click on the clip in the media window (Bin) and select Aspect Ratio.
  18. Hi, It's a known issue that VideoPad will convert images/videos to output size when importing them. That means if you previewing/exporting at 480p any imported image will be resized to 480p before anything else. You will get better result when you preview/export at higher resolution. We are still working on changing this behaviour.
  19. Hi JaniN, Thanks for the files and the effort to put them together. I'll let you know as soon as we solve the problem.
  20. Hi Serafin, It doesn't matter 16:9 or not. You can set (just type in) the preview to 720x576 and export to the same resolution. The Zoom effect will always stretch the video for you.
  21. It seems we have to get the file (the one that loads 4 minutes) for investigation. Would you be able to put it on Google Drive (or other file sharing service)?
  22. Hi Serafin, The export options crop or zoom will not stretch the video/image. If you want to stretch a 4:3 video to 16:9 without adding back bars you can do this: Set your preview resolution to 16:9. Import the 4:3 clip. Now you can see checkerboard on both side. Apply Zoom effect. Adjust both side the rectangle on the Clip Preview to just fit the 4:3 area. Export the video in 16:9. Best regards,
  23. This issue is fixed. The change will be applied to the next release. Thanks.
  24. This is a bug, it should work for clips less than one second. We'll fix it in the next version. Thanks.
