    Cropping Files

Several effects may do the job ... ZOOM, SCALE. CROP. etc. A portion of the image may be lost in the translation, but can be positioned to highlight the best area. Upload a few assorted examples (zip them if appropriate) and someone may have specific suggestions. Use a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, get a shared (public) link, copy the link and paste it here or to me in a Private Message via the mail envelope in the top-right corner of this forum. Using Google Drive, if necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view."
  4. Someone will look into it. When you do purchase, there's a six-month upgrade window. Still, it's wise to export with the version (or closely dated release) that created the project. A lot has changed under the hood since the 5.x series. There is now a 64-bit version, being phased in on a random basis. Though it offers essentially the same as its 32-bit sibling, it is capable of handling more complex projects. To see what flavor the installer has supplied click the Menu at the top-left, then FILE | ABOUT. If it doesn't list "64-bit" than it's the 32-bit version. As for 2021? Well...
  5. 5.32 is very dated. You will have to pay for a license upgrade, but can always test drive newer releases to see what features and quirks they have to offer. Retain your installer and registration info. And submit that test MKV here, so folks can analyse your issue.
  6. Drag the new images over the old ones on the timeline. If you make a mistake press <ctrl-Z> to backtrack, step-by-step. Or delete the old images, place the scrubber (red cursor) where you want a new one, right-click it in the BIN (file box) and Place on Sequence at cursor. Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. Then you will be protected, as long as source files haven't been moved or deleted. And older VPJs will be available. As for audio, lock the track by right-clicking in the area to the left. Then it won't be affected by your still image changes.
  7. Let's take a look at one of those MKV files. And, if you're not doing so already, try it on the current version. Upload the file to a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, get a shared (public) link, copy the link and paste it here or to me in a Private Message via the mail envelope in the top-right corner of this forum. Using Google Drive, if necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view."
  8. Tested again successfully. Add the background and insert images to the timeline, with the insert on a higher track. Apply the border effect to the insert image track ONLY. Then apply SCALE and POSITION effects to that track as desired. Use the current version. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
  9. Place the smaller (insert) image on track 2, then apply your preferred border effect to it. Place the background image on track one. Scale and position the track 2 image, which will allow track one to appear in the background.
  10. Thanks for the suggestions. Is it 'choppy' in preview, in export, or both? Speed of text and export frame rate may make a difference. Submit a project that demonstrates the issue and someone may have better suggestions. Just follow these simply steps carefully... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file. Get link --- Get a public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view" Share --- Click COPY LINK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me. It won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
  11. The green caching line over video clips means just that. Please share your project; someone will have at it and come up with a solution. What version is running?
  12. Look at the start-up screen or the left-bottom corner of the VP window - what version is being used? Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. After doing that, close the program and restart it. Under OPTIONS | DISK tab, Clear Unused Cache Files, then reload your project. If bad behavior persists, someone here will help if you take a minute to share. The process is easy, quick and can be done privately. Just follow these steps... 13. Some general thoughts... Digital files can do strange things at edit points when the bits don't match up. Sometimes, slightly moving the edit points will eliminate digital pops. Having clips that are poor quality, single-channel source files with hum and very low volume can create issues. It's best to record properly of course, with equal volume on left and right channels. But when audio post production is needed, it's wise to normalize volume, minimize noise and equalize prior importing for edit. Wavepad can help with audio pre-production. An improved audio file can be added to a new track and synchronized. When the original is muted, only the new audio clip will be heard. During the edit, if you make a mistake while editing, immediately press <ctrl-Z> (EDIT|UNDO) to restore, step-by-step. Go easy on grouping; it can cause unexpected behavior when clips are both grouped and linked. Use as few tracks and effects as practicable and do not load files that won't be used in the project; that just slows things down. Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. Good work! Takes practice ... and patience.
  14. 1. Place two copies of the clip, on separate tracks, one directly above the other 2. On the upper track, click the FX icon on the clip to open the effects editor 3. Click the green + sign Polygon Mask icon that is the second from the left on the toolbar 4. Draw a mask similar to this (note the placement of the dotted red line)... 5. Add a TRANSPARENCY effect and set it to zero 6. On the lower track, open the effects editor and apply the desired ZOOM Preview the timeline and note that the top/bottom black bars aren't affected
  15. Please do follow Nat's suggestion. Issues are usually resolved quickly. And mention the version being used.
  16. Odd. If this persists, suggest that you file a bug report by clicking the chevron at the top-right of the VP window. Components should be included in the install or be downloaded spontaneously as needed with install-on-demand. Try deleting all items in the above named folder, and this one, then reinstalli Videopad. "C:\Users\<PC name>\AppData\Roaming\NCH Software\Components" See this page for downloads of missing files. http://www.nch.com.au/components/
  17. Good illustration. Grab the bottom of the window and pull it down, increasing the vertical size of the graph. Then when the curve handle is moused over, the result will be something like this...
  18. UNhover from the above point first. That will banish the pop up, leaving the lower keyframe dot in the clear. The pop up appears when mousing over any keyframe.
  19. Here, the pop up appears only when mousing over a keyframe, and it's always below it. There's no way to suppress it. Let's see a screenshot. Upload it to a free server such as Dropbox, get a shareable (public) link, copy the link and post it here. Specifically, display the 'handle' that you are accessing.
  20. Are you referring to a vertical pop up with the scissors that appears on the timeline? If that's the case, reinstall (no need to re-download) repeatedly until the pop up becomes horizontal.
  21. The deshaker seems to be doing its job. But effectiveness may be limited by the gradual/smooth movements in this clip. The original isn't very shaky. The result.
  22. Yes, when the source files are the desired ratio, the export will be as well.
  23. SCALE it up, in lieu of ZOOM, to 1.35. Or just ZOOM it with no CROP. With aspect ratio changes of this nature, some content is bound to be lost, unless stretched.
  24. Delete the CROP effect. Add the Aspect Radio STRETCH effect to all clips. Reduce the final text file to 5pt size. Export at 1080.
