  1. Yes, by sufficiently expanding the timeline it can be done without shift. Not a big deal now that I know about it, so I can live with that. From what you write it seems a bit of a sensitive area so I'm not sure sure if submitting a bug is worth it. You never know what side effects a bugfix could have ... better the devil you know 🙂 Thanks again for your help. Much appreciated.
  2. Yes there is a need to use <shift>, as the video must be *exactly* aligned with the externally recorded audio. Without <shift> it takes much longer, and trial and error, to get it right. It amazes me that you say using <shift> can cause unpredictable results. I've used it intensively (as per the documentation) for many years without any issues whatsoever, and now find it's broken in the latest versions. Surely this is still a supported functionality ? If so, it is a bug plain and clear. Can I log a ticket with NCH to get this fixed ?
  3. Thanks for all the tips, and for editing my post to include the updates which seems good practice. I did include links to the images on my OneDrive. Still don't see how you got an inline image in your post. Yes I did test with release, as I wrote. The problem persists. Reverting back to an old version is tempting, but I'd rather not have to do that. Especially as I paid for the 64-bit upgrade. On the plus, I seem to have found out when this happens : it's after I have done one or more resizes with the shift-key (which is my habit). Since starting with a new project and leaving the shift key alone, the problem hasn't manifested. It's a bit inconvenient, but not a huge problem anymore. Fingers crossed though. If you're interested I can backup and share a project with just two small video files, and instructions how to reproduce the problem.
  4. Thanks for looking into it Borate 👍 But I'm not surprised you cannot replicate it.... It seems to happen to me quite randomly, after editing for a while. I already tried massively zooming in on the timeline (using the mouse wheel) but it did not help. Nor did saving the project and restarting VP. Just I downloaded the current version (10.17, right ?) but the problem persists. Unless I find another way to resize the clip this is a showstopper for me, preventing me from completing my video. BTW You included an inline image ! How does that work ? I could not find the option. -0-0- Update ! I got the bracket icon back by zooming OUT the timeline ! Isn't that strange !! It now turns out the disappearing act happens when zooming IN on (i.e. expanding) the timeline. While this might just save the day for me it is hugely inconvenient, because to properly align video and external audio, I need to zoom out quite a lot otherwise it becomes a hit-and-miss exercise. -0-0- Update again.... alas it's not as simple as that. It also happens (sometimes) as a result of resizing a clip, without the timeline being zoomed in or out. I'm starting to have doubts about being able to complete my video, and am also starting to regret shelling out money for the upgrade to 64-bits 10.x, only to encounter issues where my 32-bits 4.x version worked without any issues.
  5. Hi all, Just hit upon a problem that is stopping me dead in my tracks ☚ī¸ This is in my second project with VideoPad v10.12 64-bit, I never had this problem in my first project, or in any project using earlier versions. When I hover on the edge of a clip, a resize cursor appears (square bracket between two arrows) and I can drag the edge to resize the clip. But every now and then, for no reason I can think of, the resize cursor does not appear (anymore, it might have done previously) on the right edge of the clip, so I'm unable to resize it on that end. Instead when I hover, it shows the balloon with the clip info. The clip edges look totally normal at that position. Following images should clarify (inline images don't seem possible here ?) Ok, resize cursor appears Problem, resize cursor does not show I did not find another way to resize the clip. Any ideas would be most welcome. TIA, Chris
  6. Thanks again! I'm sure it will work out once I know the way 😎
  7. Thanks for that Borate. I know about changing the size but that did not help any. The snapshot function is useful, though so far it only snapshots the clip, even if I ask for a snapshot sequence. I'll have to experiment more. I now also found the problem is only when the video at that point is a still image.
  8. Hi all, Since upgrading to v 10.12 64bit (from a real old 32-bit version) my sequence preview window is grainy with very low resolution. It would not bother me if not for the fact I sometimes take screenshots directly off it, which is now longer an option. The exported video is fine. Is there an option to get a hi-res sequence preview ? Any ideas would be much appreciated. TIA, Chris
  9. Thanks for your reply Sam. Good to see developers taking part here. I have been using the "Subtitles" button and was definitely able to add two overlapping titles as you can see in the file "Subtitles.ssa" I saved it to: [Events] Format: Marked, Start, End, Style, Name, MarginL, MarginR, MarginV, Effect, Text Dialogue: Marked=0,0:00:05.30,0:00:16.39,Style1,,0000,0000,0000,!Effect,\R\N Grieg - Lyric Pieces\R\N Book 4, Op. 47\R\N\R\N\R\N\R\N Dialogue: Marked=0,0:00:07.66,0:00:14.52,Style2,,0000,0000,0000,!Effect,Chris Breemer, piano \R\N Dialogue: Marked=0,0:00:22.52,0:00:29.04,Style3,,0000,0000,0000,!Effect, 1 - Valse-Impromptu Dialogue: Marked=0,0:03:30.08,0:03:36.93,Style4,,0000,0000,0000,!Effect, 2 - Album Leaf Dialogue: Marked=0,0:07:16.61,0:07:23.18,Style5,,0000,0000,0000,!Effect, 3 - Melodie Dialogue: Marked=0,0:10:37.78,0:10:44.67,Style6,,0000,0000,0000,!Effect, 4 - Halling Dialogue: Marked=0,0:12:16.37,0:12:22.74,Style7,,0000,0000,0000,!Effect, 5 - Melancholie Dialogue: Marked=0,0:13:01.15,0:13:09.33,Style8,,0000,0000,0000,!Effect, 6 - Norwegian Dance Dialogue: Marked=0,0:17:25.95,0:17:33.45,Style9,,0000,0000,0000,!Effect, 7 - Elegie I'm probably still missing something here. But I'll hunt around for the Text Clip function, sounds like it might be less cumbersome and more flexible,
  10. I used Windows MM for years (the old one though, not the one from Windows Live) and was thoroughly sick of it crashing, hanging, and eating up my CPU. VideoPad is so much better although applying effects (and subtitles) seems a little unwieldy. I suppose I'll get used to it ;-)
  11. Thanks for your reply ! But subtitles DO seem to overlay. If fact when I want different fonts I define two or more overlapping subtitles. Works fine but it's a bit of a pain. What would be great is to be able to define a subtitle with HTML/CSS to get total freedom. Or in any case an easy way to enter the offset in a clip and the duration. I find those sliding markers extremely inconvenient. Even if subtitles are not meant to overlay it would make sense to be able to *define* them relative to a clip. I would assume this is how most people would do it, no ?
  12. Hi, I am new on these forums. I recently bought VideoPad and really like it. The one thing that irritates the heck out of me is the cumbersome way to add subtitles, and particularly having to fiddle with the red and blue start/stop markers. I find it strange that subtitles are always relative to the sequence and cannot be particular to a clip. Typically I create a video of N clips, and each clip is to have a subtitle starting 3 seconds into the clip and lasting 10 seconds (or some other numbers of choice here). It takes an awful lot of zooming and dragging to achieve that and I seem to spend more time on the subtitles than on the rest of the video. IMO when you have a clip selected there should be a right mouse option "Add clip subtitle" and a possibility to add offset (relative to the clip) and duration with the keyboard, with preset values 3 and 10 already filled in. I hope I'm not alone in finding these markers (which are always on top of each other and on the cursor) plain awful, and desiring the subtitles to be relative to the clip (though of course there should also be the possibility of subtitles relative to the sequence, like it is now).
