  1. Nothing seen to the contrary. File a suggestion... https://www.nch.com.au/suggestions/index.html?software=VideoPad If you elect to re-encode, there are a number of effects that can minimize 'wash out.' Export won't be as quick, but overall quality should be very good.
  2. In the latest beta release progressively fast scrolling has been enabled for arrow keys while in Sequence preview mode. To scroll quickly at a constant speed In Clip preview, press and hold the buttons under the preview window.
  3. https://youtu.be/Cr-eWyPELVA Default export settings are usually satisfactory, but resolution, format, codec and frame rate can be chosen. Experiment for best results. To protect your work, Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. From the HOME tab, that choice is available by clicking the chevron to the right of the Save Project button on the toolbar. These are VPJ files that tell the program what to do. They are not playable.
  4. For a cropped area to be superimposed over a background, use CROP. Add SCALE or POSITION effects if desired. Experiment with one of the many A/R Transform drop-down menu presets. . For a cropped are that fills the frame use ZOOM.
  5. You may have already seen these requirements... NCH Video Output Options - Lossless Export Settings Lossless export provides the highest quality video. It does this by re-encoding your video file only when required. Some editing functions require your video to be re-encoded on export. These include adding transitions, adding effects or exporting to a different file type than the original file. A full list of criteria for lossless export is listed below. There are three options in the lossless export drop-down list. Auto Detect - This is the default setting. If the majority of your video does not need to be re-encoded, it will automatically be exported with the lossless setting. If the majority of your video needs to be re-encoded, lossless export will not be used. Use Lossless Export - When this setting is selected, if your video meets the criteria for lossless editing below, lossless export will be used. Only portions of the video that need to be re-encoded will be re-encoded, the remainder will use lossless export. Off (Re-encode Video) - When this setting is selected, your entire video file will be re-encoded. Lossless export will not be used. Depending on your selection, you will see your other file setting options adjust to meet the requirements of your lossless export selection. The following criteria must be met by the input/output videos for lossless export to be used: We currently support H.264 and MPEG4 encoder video sources. The output format must match the input format. Supported formats are .avi, .mkv, .mov, .mp4 The output and input must have the same dimensions, encoder profile, levels and extradata. Visual effects are not supported. Any segments of your video that include visual effects will be re-encoded. At least 10% of your sequence must meet the criteria for lossless editing. If less than 10% of the sequence meets the criteria, the entire sequence will be re-encoded during export.
  6. Test drive the current free version. It doesn't expire and has limitations. Or install the regular release which, unless licensed, is a trial. Most features should be active for a reasonable period of time.
  7. Appears so, unless exported as suggested above. Quality of the two formats should be comparable. There are numerous options - click on ADVANCED. The deshaker is a third-party plug in. Take a look at this page, where free-standing downloads seem to be available.
  8. The specialists seem to have it nailed. Every test made here with an on-line subtitling tool has been 100% accurate. Explored the capabilities of another prosumer NLE that doesn't do auto-generate caps... their FAQ points elsewhere.
  9. In addition to the odd translation, which is purportedly the fault of the MS speech engine, subtitle generation is one long line - not linked to the spoken video. Perhaps one could generate it piecemeal, but that's more trouble than it's worth.😆
  10. AVI and mp4 are both containers that can utilize various codecs. If you need mp4, try exporting the AVI losslessly in that format.
  11. Perhaps auto-generation is best left to the companies specializing in that service. Some may do short jobs without charge. Manual subtitle entry in Videopad works fine.
  12. The speech to text feature creates a single long line that does not correspond to individual scene audio. It's not functional IMO. Go here. Generate a subtitle SRT file (no need to download the video) and import that file into Videopad. Works well. ST_sample.mp4
  13. Click the Menu button (top-left), then HELP | ABOUT VIDEOPAD. If it doesn't say "64-bit" it's not. Or look at the start-up screen. Same thing.
  14. What version of Videopad is being used? Install this release. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
  15. If you cannot open VP, delete cache files manually, using Explorer (Windows file manager). They are stored here... "C:\Users\<PC name>\AppData\Local\Temp\VideoPadCache" That folder usually has a subfolder named VideopadAudioCache. Delete its files as well. Then... Install this version. Reload your project. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. If the issue persists come back here.
  16. Before beginning a new project it's wise to click on OPTIONS | DISK tab and Clear Unused Cache Files. This may help during a session as well. Long, complex projects benefit greatly from at least 8GB RAM and beefy CPU/GPU and, especially, running the 64-bit version of Videopad. Install it, and see if performance improves. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Someone here will analyze your project if you take a few minutes to share it. The process is easy, quick and can be done privately. Just follow these steps... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file. Get link --- Get a public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view" Share --- Click COPY LINK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me. It won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
  17. This a peer support forum - primarily users just like yourself who are glad to help. What version of VP is being used? Update to the latest. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. If no joy, please share a file or two that has the issue. Someone will check it out. Upload the file/s to a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, get a shared (public) link, copy the link and paste it here or to me in a Private Message via the mail envelope in the top-right corner of this forum. When using Google Drive, if necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view."
  18. UHD, yes... But seeing no reference to HDR in Videopad. Take a look at PhotoPad.
  19. Thanks. Why you got a dated version is puzzling, but remedied now. Though free updates are offered within six-months of purchase date there's no reason to install them if your current version is serving you well. You can always test the latest to see if there are new useful features. Retain your registration info, of course.
  20. Version 10.35 is shown in your linked jpg image. What was the URL (the link) used to purchase it?
  21. Ignore the cursor. Click on a clip to select it, hold down <ctrl> and click on another, and so forth. Or click the first clip, hold down <shift> and click the last. All within the range will be selected. This is standard MS Windows file handling procedure. Right-click any selected clip and Change Clip Speed. When selected, the black area between thumbs turns grey. Swiping, where the timeline turns blue provides other options, as you discovered. select.mp4
  22. In the export dialog box there are global A/R choices. Stretch will distort images horizontally, so may not be suitable. Usually it's best to stick with the export A/R recommendation, which should mirror what's seen on the timeline. Check out the other thread for details on setting duration for multiple images.
  23. Set a default still image duration, under OPTIONS | MEDIA tab, which will apply only to clips to be added to the bin. For existing clips, select those you want, right-click on one and Change Clip Speed. Highlight the duration field. Type in a new duration. All selected clips will change. That can be performed on bin or timeline clips. There's also a feature available via the Menu (top-left corner of the window) | FILE drop-down named Add Images As Video that could prove useful. Experiment.
  24. Projects with clips of varying aspect ratios often display some clips bordered by black, which is what will be seen if there is no track below the clip. In the current release, a right-click on a bin clip, then Change Clip Aspect Ratio, will reveal a BLUR PADDING choice, which might be useful in your situation. Here's the result... Higher tracks always take precedence, so a smaller clip on track two will reveal a larger clip from track one as a background. Picture-in-picture... http://help.nchsoftware.com/help/en/videopad/win64bitpaid/tasks_watermarkspip.html To add a track simply drag clips to the area just above the existing track (or below, in case of audio only).
