  1. Let's say that a clip in the bin has been trimmed so only the middle few seconds are added to the timeline and now you want to shift what is displayed in the sequence. On the timeline, grab a clip's handle and drag left or right, to reveal more or less content. If you make a mistake, click <ctrl-Z> (EDIT|UNDO) to backtrack, step-by-step. Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as to not overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. Clicking a VPJ file (not playable) will restore the project as of the date the file was saved as long as the source files have not been moved or deleted. drag.mp4
  2. In some incarnations the track lock toggle can be accessed with a right-click in the area to the left of a track.
  3. Don't have direct answers for you, but someone else here might. Observations... Estimates of file size are historically inaccurate and shouldn't be relied upon Original video is 720 at 10fps, so export at a higher resolution would tend to reduce quality. Lossless - essentially a pass through - results in the same quality and size as the original.. The 720 H264 output (even at 30fps) compressed the 878MB original to about 229MB. But at that original resolution there's was no apparent degradation IMO - certainly not a dramatic one.
  4. 8.45 and 8.63 won't fail. If they work fine for you, there's no obligation to update. Somewhat obscure bugs that most users may never encounter have since been corrected. Folks likely will be here to help if you stop by in the future.
  5. 8.45 and 8.63 are reliable. Most glitches are obscure, but when a major one surfaces it's fixed, and folks here can usually provide interim workarounds. Posting specifics here often overcomes problems quickly. You can always test drive a trial version without payment for an indefinite period. Try this one, which has corrected recent export issues that were allegedly caused by work on improving export speed. Continuous improvements can have a downside. Overall, VP works fine for many users and is a fully featured value for its marketing niche, especially when considering that it can be had for free, with limitations.
  6. Drop by anytime. Sharing helps users get the best out of the product.
  7. Has to be the case. An image here looks exactly the same as Ron's screen grab. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AvWPoTF6CyJ1kQrl3xgiiMk-aAfo
  8. There is no difference in markers between the trial and paid versions. The only other thing that comes to mind, and it wouldn't hurt checking it, is that your video drivers and Direct-X are up to date. https://www.nch.com.au/kb/10265.html
  9. Share the export solution that your found, please. If you downloaded 8.71 from the beta site you may not have actually gotten that build. The numbers there are often placeholders. Instead, it's possible that what you got was release 8.67.

    Track colour

There isn't one. However, you can rename the tracks by right-clicking on the default name, such as VIDEO TRACK 1.
  12. Drop by anytime. v8.72 is beta, so it may have more quirks than usual. But, with the help from folks like you who contribute to the forum, issues are usually resolved quickly.. Glad it worked out.
  13. Try turning off lossless encoding when exporting Test drive the newest Mac version. Report back. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Of course. Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. Then you can restore a project to the state it was in when saved. Just double-click the VPJ file (which isn't playable).
  14. In the new version, try an AVI (not mp4) export. Even with limitations, that normally works. With a new install of that unlicensed version here, mp4 succeeds as well (for a time). Even with the new PC, be sure that the video driver and Direct-X are up to date... https://www.nch.com.au/kb/10265.html
  15. Download and install this version, and see if that doesn't solve the issue. If not, check in here once again. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
  16. Disconnection should not have been necessary for links at that site. But whatever succeeded.
  17. Possible cache corruption will be overcome by going to OPTIONS | DISK tab and Clearing Unused Cache Files. A reinstall of the program won't hurt. A world of changes, improvements have been made since the 5x series. You might test drive the latest for free. Certain features will be limited. An issue with AVI format, H264 compressor sync has recently been remedied.
  18. Glad it worked out. Drop in again if issues arise.
  19. Not really. The update cycle is short, and bugs can creep in. Recent coding changes that will lead to better performance have caused some issues but those are usually quickly remedied and addressed with help from folks in the forum. Versions 8.45 and 8.63 are good bets.
  20. Start with OPTIONS | DISK tab and Clear Unused Cache Files. If no change, follow the advice in my previous post.
  21. Anything is possible. Look to the left of the audio track/s. Is the speaker muted (red X)? Look at the clips. Is the speaker muted there? Is the volume slider at the left of the tracks fully to the right? Install the suggested version. Of course, retain your registration info. If no go. close the program and use the PC's file manager (Windows Explorer) to locate these folders. Delete all files that they contain. Go to Control Panel | PROGRAMS AND FEATURES and uninstall VP. Then install the suggested version of Videopad... "C:\Program Files (x86)\NCH Software\Components" or "C"\Program Files\NCH\ software\Components" "C:\Users\<PC name>\AppData\Roaming\NCH Software\Components"
  22. What version of Videopad is being used? Save your work, then Install this one. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Report back.
  23. Odd. Folks here will help. Install the version linked in my post above. Re-registration likely won't be necessary. Report back.
  24. What Videopad version is being used? What are your export settings? Please download and install this version. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. If the problem persists come back here.
  25. It likely won't. Click the link above.
