  1. You can try the following: Uninstall PhotoStage, then delete 3 folders named "PhotoStage" and 1 named "Components" from these locations: **C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\NCH Software\PhotoStage\ **C:\Program Files (x86)\NCH Software\PhotoStage\ **C:\Program Files (x86)\NCH Software\Components **C:\ProgramData\NCH Software\PhotoStage\ **If you can't find any of the folders, just continue. If you can't find the AppData folder, set Windows to show hidden files and folders with the steps from this link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14201/windows-show-hidden-files. Download the version covered by your license and enter your registration code. 6. Hey @Marija V Please keep in mind that these steps are general recommendations and may vary depending on the specific situation and computer setup. Here's what you can try: Close unnecessary programs: Make sure you don't have too many programs running simultaneously, as they can consume system resources. Close any unused applications running in the background. Restart your computer: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary performance issues by clearing out system resources and closing any problematic processes. Update the program: Ensure that the program you're experiencing slowness with is up to date. Check the developer's website or the program's settings for any available updates and install them if necessary. Updates often include bug fixes and performance improvements. Check system requirements: Verify that your computer meets the minimum system requirements for running the program. If your hardware falls below the recommended specifications, the program may run slower or not function optimally. Free up disk space: Insufficient disk space can impact your computer's performance. Delete unnecessary files, such as temporary files, old documents, and unused applications. You can also use disk cleanup tools or utilities to automate this process. Scan for malware: Malware infections can significantly slow down your computer. Run a full system scan using reputable antivirus or anti-malware software to detect and remove any potential threats. Update device drivers: Outdated or incompatible device drivers can cause performance issues. Visit the manufacturer's website for your computer and peripherals (graphics card, sound card, etc.) and download the latest drivers available. Adjust visual effects: Windows operating systems provide various visual effects that can consume system resources. You can optimize performance by adjusting these settings. Right-click on "This PC" or "My Computer," go to "Properties," click on "Advanced system settings," select the "Settings" button under the "Performance" section, and choose "Adjust for best performance" or manually disable specific effects. Increase virtual memory (Windows): If your computer has limited physical RAM, increasing the virtual memory (page file) size can improve performance. Right-click on "This PC" or "My Computer," go to "Properties," select "Advanced system settings," click on the "Settings" button under the "Performance" section, navigate to the "Advanced" tab, and click on "Change" in the "Virtual memory" section. Upgrade hardware: If the above steps don't provide satisfactory results, you may consider upgrading your computer's hardware components, such as adding more RAM, replacing the hard drive with a solid-state drive (SSD), or upgrading the graphics card.

  14. Hello @Radam As an NCH tech support representative, I'd be happy to assist you with your question about Express Rip and choosing the appropriate setting for ripping your jazz CDs. When it comes to selecting the setting in Express Rip, both the "Auto" and "High Quality (CD/DVD Quality)" options have their respective benefits. Let's take a closer look at each setting: Auto (preserves original format): This setting allows Express Rip to detect and preserve the original format of the audio tracks on your CDs. If your jazz CDs were originally recorded at a sample rate of 44100 Hz and a bit depth of 16 bits (which is common for CDs), then selecting the "Auto" option would likely result in the closest match to the original format. This setting is useful if you prefer to maintain the authenticity of the music as it was originally recorded. High Quality (CD/DVD Quality): This setting ensures that the ripped audio files are of high quality and meet the standard CD/DVD specifications. It might slightly improve the audio quality by applying certain processing techniques, such as noise reduction or enhancing the dynamic range. If you're aiming for the best possible audio quality while still maintaining compatibility with CD/DVD standards, the "High Quality" option is a good choice. Considering your preference for ripping 60s and 70s jazz CDs, which were likely recorded in the standard CD format, both options should yield satisfactory results. However, if you're specifically interested in preserving the original format without any alterations, selecting the "Auto" option would be more suitable. On the other hand, if you want to enhance the audio quality while maintaining compatibility, you can opt for the "High Quality" setting. Ultimately, the choice between the two settings depends on your personal preference and the level of audio quality you desire. I would recommend trying out both options with a few sample tracks and comparing the results to determine which setting produces the desired outcome in terms of audio fidelity and compatibility.

  25. Hi, DS2 files are a proprietary format created when the Olympus DS-2400 is used to make dictations. After the dictation is created, the format can be converted to DSS or WAV format using the Olympus Standard software included with the DS-2400, which means you will have to request that the person creating dictations converts the files before sending them to you. Try using DSS files in Express Scribe. To convert files from the Olympus Standard player, have the user select the dictation(s) in the list, go to the File menu, select "Convert Dictation" and then click the Convert button.
