  1. Files that are stabilized are saved to the SAVE CONVERTED FILES folder specified in OPTIONS | DISK. You can create a unique folder for that purpose.
  2. Your link above will be of no diagnostic help. Once a project loads it can be saved as a PORTABLE project. That folder will include every source file and the VPJ control file. If that is shared, others can duplicate your work. Usually obscure bugs do crop up, but rarely are there reports of lost work or crashes. That said, it's always wise to click SAVE PROJECT AS frequently and give it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite earlier saves. Suggesting that you try other versions is simply an effort to get your project to load. If it does, and you want it analysed... Here's how... http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/23659-tips-for-getting-help-on-this-forum/ Be sure to FILE|SAVE PORTABLE PROJECT AS, not simply SAVE PROJECT, and don't forget to share it.
  3. Frustrating, of course. But you have backed up the project, so there's a very good chance that it can be salvaged. Folks here will be glad to help with that if you follow a few procedures and have patience. First, check out this FAQ. Once a project is begun with a specific version it's usually wise to stick with that version or a close release. But there is no downside to testing the latest version, while retaining your old license/registration info. If it's been less than six-months since purchase, the upgrade will be free. Even if it cannot be registered it should be fully functional during the trial period. You can also test this slightly older version. Installs take only seconds. If, after these measures, the project still won't load, please do the following... Go to the folder or folders that contain all the source files. There should also be a VPJ file in a folder. Zip each folder and upload it to a free server. Or, if there are but a few files, just upload them without zipping. Don't forget the VPJ. Make the resulting link on the server public (share it) and post it here. If your project contains sensitive material share it with me privately. Click the folder at the top-right of this forum to open the messager. The upload/sharing process allows others to see what you see. Typical servers: Microsoft's OneDrive or Google Drive. We'll look forward to seeing your project or hearing that you succeeded in loading it. In reality NCH does care, and folks here will go the extra mile to help.
  4. But of course. The stopwatch is just a clip. Click the fx button at the bottom-right of the clip to open the effects box (or click VIDEO EFFECTS on the toolbar). Click the large green + sign if the box is blank. Choose the POSITION effect. In the preview window drag the watch to where you want it (or use the sliders).
  5. Weird. Probably not the issue, but Clear Unused Cache Files between loads. OPTIONS | DISK.
  6. In version 8.0 the box appears under preview. Drag the white top border to move it.
  7. Doesn't work that way here, in 8.0. Reload the project, select the clips that already have EQ applied and click an fx on any audio clip. The EQ entry is flatlined. Click its "configure" button and apply a preset. Then click the "replace effect chain in other selected clips" button. All effects listed in the box, including the EQ preset, will replace those in the selected clips. The fifth button from the left will append instead, so in that case there will be multiple entries..
  8. Were there contextual or effects differences between the two halves? Odd result. Tried lossless export? Ran a test with a 20 minute project. Part two: 215.19MB. Part one: 218:46MB.
  9. Anomaly aside on how the different versions act, be sure there's ample free space on the cache drive (OPTIONS | DISK) and let caching complete after reloading the project. If possible, do upload a more lengthy project where this occurs, so others can try to replicate the issue.
  10. There's no option to suppress the splash screen.
  11. The problem with using a file name on a track is that there can be many clips on the same track. The file name can be revealed with a mouseover pop-up in the sequence.
  12. Please explain more fully what you mean by "looping" and upload a sample portable project that does this so others can check it out. Lengthy projects sound fine here in 8.0. EQ presets (including your own) can be applied to multiple clips... Select the desired clips. Open the effects window and choose EQUALIZER. Click Configure EQ and choose your preset. Click the fourth icon from the left on the toolbar. This applies the EQ preset to all selected clips. Agreed, the presets should be saved with the project.
  13. Obviously, something isn't right. What version of VP is being used, and is it Windows or Mac? The best way to diagnose your issue is to be able to run it. Please share the project and someone will check it out. It's not difficult... Here's how... http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/23659-tips-for-getting-help-on-this-forum/ If it contains sensitive material you can link it in a personal message (PM) to me, via the envelope above. Be sure to FILE|SAVE PORTABLE PROJECT AS, not simply SAVE PROJECT, and don't forget to share it.

SAVE PROJECT will overwrite the project file. SAVE PROJECT FILE AS will save it to the folder of your choice, but not overwrite if you give it a unique # or name. Do this regularly. SAVE PORTABLE PROJECT AS writes ALL files and the vpj control file to a single folder with a numerical designation. That folder can be opened in any PC. Clicking on the vpj file will launch VP with the project, just as it was on the original PC. EXPORTING saves the output of a project in a file type and to a folder of your choice. Mp4 is the default and suggested resolution usually matches the source files.

What version of Videopad is being used? What type are the source files? Have you made speed changes to some clips? Share your project and someone will check it out. It's not difficult. Install this version. The effects drop-down choices and layout should be as above.

Again, what version - Mac or Windows? Did you reinstall? Unable to replicate the issue here. You can submit your project for inspection. It's not difficult. aspect ratio

Scroll down in the effects box. There's an Aspect Ratio Transforms section as shown above. It contains three choices. After making one of those choices click the chevron at the right of the words "Auto Aspect Ratio" to see the drop-down options.

    aspect ratio

Just follow the 1, 2, 3, 4 steps outlined above. Once an aspect ratio is chosen from the drop-down box the clip, and only that clip, will adjust to that ratio. AR.mp4

Are you running Windows or a Mac? Clicking VIDEO EFFECTS in the toolbar will bring up the effects box directly - no need to click the green +. The fx route to that effects box is the button at the bottom-left of each clip on the timeline. When the window opens click the green +.
  21. borate

    aspect ratio

Shouldn't make any difference whether it's the free or the paid version. What version # is it? Try installing the latest version.. ONLY the clip that the effect is applied to is affected here - the others remain as is. For example... 1. Click the fx button on any clip, in the bin or on the timeline 2. Click the big green + sign 3. Click the letter box Aspect Ratio choice 4. Choose an A/R from the drop-down box Testing with mixed video and still images and applying the A/R change to either type, the selected clip alone snaps to that aspect ratio.

    aspect ratio

AR can be changed on individual clips in the bin. Right-click | CHANGE ASPECT RATIO. Click one of the choices and a drop-down list will display the options. If the clip is on the timeline, click the fx button to bring up the effects box. Click the large green + sign. Scroll to the Aspect Ratio section and make your choice..
  23. Agreed, it would be handy to have a 'fill to gap' feature. Suggest it. Click the chevron at the top-right of the Videopad window and click on the feedback item. In lieu of that, go to Storyboard mode and note the length of the clip to be extended and the length of the gap. Total them in Windows calculator and press <ctrl-C> to copy. Right-click on the clip and CHANGE CLIP SPEED. Click the duration box and use <ctrl-V> to paste in the totaled number. Click SET. Verify that the duration now matches that number. If it's slightly off, adjust the last two numbers in speed box until the duration is precise. Click SET and the gap will be filled.
  24. After cropping, add the SCALE effect to fill the frame, while maintaining the aspect ratio.
  25. To extend an image, drag its right handle to the right. An audio clip, such as a music track, cannot be extended. Add a new clip at the end with the white noise. A video clip cannot be extended. Grab a screenshot of the last frame (right-click in the preview window) and insert it as a still at the end. The still can be extended. That said, if a video or audio clip isn't used in full to its end on the sequence then it can be extended by dragging the clip's right handle, to reveal more content.
