  1. Thanks. I'll do that..... At the moment I'm slicing up a file with 4 1hr episodes. First one 6.51Gb. The rest - 1.95. 🙄
  2. It was actually two episodes of "Sherlock" which I took off my Sky box with a little recording gizmo that writes the output to a USB stick. So essentially it was one contiguous file which I merely divided in two. I sometimes record a few hours of video and edit it on the PC to trim ad breaks etc and I get extreme file size differences with this procedure, even if the programmes are the same length. Not a big prob. Just thought it was a bit weird...... 🙄
  3. OK. So I have been recording episodes of various TV progs to a USB stick. I usually do two at a time and then transfer them to PC to trim them if need be and chop the file into separate episodes. All seems quite straightforward and it is. 😊 But I notice an odd thing...... I load the file, find the split point and delete the second episode. Then export. This exports as a 9.87 Gb for approx 90 mins of HD. The I delete the episode from the timeline and drag the whole file in again. Find the split and delete the first ep. Funny thing is, when I export this section it ends up as 2.87 Gb. The picture quality appears identical. I use exactly the same settings for both. It's all .Mp4 Anybody any insight on this strange phenomenon? ** I have a little piece of software that converts .Mp4 to other formats and vice-versa. If I load the big file into it and convert it to .Mp4 (that's Mp4 to Mp4) the generated file is near to the size of the second segment exported from VideoPad.
  4. Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-9400 CPU @ 2.90GHz Memory: 8Gb Disc Space. 197Gb free of 1Tb Having said that, I've just tried editing another file and it works as normal. 😃 I'll try again with the former file and do a few experiments as per your directions. Later...................... I did a few more exports successfully and updated to v7.53. However it is still behaving badly. Crashed 4 times last night at the conclusion of a export, leaving me with a unplayable file. It also seems to take an extraordinarily long time to complete this task. And a long time to load the source file. I am presently exporting a 90min film in HD. Been going half-an-hour and it's only reached 20%. All I am trying to do is trim a few bits - nothing fancy. 😕
  5. Been using Videopad for a few months no problems. I recently installed an update (V7.51) and now it has become unusable. The power usage in Task Manager shows Very High. The picture freezes every few seconds and the controls are unresponsive. I'm using windows 10. 64 bit.
  6. OK. Tried a couple of test recordings and they are fine except for momentary freezes which are not really acceptable. Picture and sound quality OK. Any tips appreciated. 😐
  7. Hold the front page...... The sound is now recording after I unticked the Speakers box. 😀
  8. ............ Just ticked the "Listen to this device" box in the settings for the device. The sound comes though my speakers. So sound is inputting from the same source as the video signal. Somehow it's not going where it ought to as it is not recorded.
  9. Later.............. I tried a different capture device. One specifically recommended for Debut. Weird thing. It is not recognised as a capture device, but it does show up as a Webcam. Switching to the Webcam tab it works. But the recordings still have NO SOUND. Anyone any idea what the problem is? It's driving me nuts. * My PC has no webcam connected.

    No audio

That tutorial is fine if you want to record sounds from your PC but no mention is made of external USB devices connected to a VCR or whatever. I can record great videos but they have no sound whatsoever.
  11. No solution to offer, but I feel your pain. I have no sound at all. The rest of the program works like a dream. Searching this Forum and looking at tut videos on YouTube, the answer appears to be an box that needs ticking. "In the Options -> Devices tab .........." My problem is, I haven't got a devices tab. It goes Video-Audio-HotKeys-etc. The Devices tab should be first. I would dearly like to know what the explanation is. 🙁
  12. Sorry to drag up an old post, but that more or less the same trouble I'm having. I would follow the instructions from Tech Support, but my Debut does NOT have a devices tab in the Options (v5.45). Is this right? The program so far seems to be an excellent piece of kit. Far superior to other's I've tried. Just a pity it's unusable without sound. 😕
  13. Weird thing...... I watched a Debut tutorial on You Tube. It shows instructions on how to capture from an external device. Part of it was "If you are having problems capturing sound, select the Devices Tab in Options and make sure the Capture Audio box is ticked". Sounds reasonable, except I don't have a Devices tab in my Options. The vid may feature a older version of the software(?) Mine is v5.45
  14. The plot thickens............ I found a tick box - "Listen to this device",. I'm getting audio now - but it's very choppy and distorted. And the weird thing is, it continues after I close the program. Could it be that the physical grabber device is incompatible?

    No Sound

I have just started with Debut. All seems OK. Straightforward to use. Nice. 🙂 But.... There is no sound. I am connected to a VCR/DVD player using a little 'grabber' device. The picture is fine but not a peep of audio. I can record and play back the recording with no sound. I have checked the cables/connections. No Go. But it seems to me that both audio channels failing simultaneously due to dodgy connections is unlikely. And the video feed is fine.... Usually with this type of glitch it is something silly and simple, but I have tried tweaking the settings all day. If anyone has had this happen and knows the fix, I would be enormously grateful if they could enlighten me. I have over 1000 VHS tapes to digitize and the program looks very useful and nicely designed. 😃
