  1. SRT unicode import now succeeds in beta release 10.12. Betas may have undiscovered glitches. Retain your registration (if licensed) and installer. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
  2. You didn't mention what version # of VP is being used. Install the latest 64-bit release, which should cost you nothing as upgrades are free for six-months from purchase date. If that doesn't solve the issue, just follow these simple steps to share your project with other users here. Someone will take a look and come up with a fix. The process is easy, quick and can be done privately. Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file. Get link --- Get a public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view" Share --- Click COPY LINK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me. It won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
  3. Release 10.10 looks good here. What happens when you attempt an export? What format? Clear Unused Cache Files, under OPTIONS | DISK tab. Try a reinstall of the program.
  4. Haven't seen that behavior reported here. Were it a limitation of your version, a prompt should appear. A reinstall and reboot won't hurt. Also suggest that you download the latest 'free' 64-bit version and see if it does the job for you. If it does, license it.
  5. First UNlink the audio from the video by right-click on either track and clicking on UNink... Isolate the unwanted section using two splits. Click the chevron at the right of the SPLIT button under the preview window and split ONLY the video track. Delete the now split-out unwanted section, then program a fade transition at the first split. That will leave a hole in the video track that can be filled with other video, a still image or perhaps a blank clip. Since it's but a few seconds long it might be left as is - black. If you need more guidance just share your project. Someone will take a look. The process is easy, quick and can be done privately. Follow these steps closely... 6. Aye, good to know Josh. And it's assumed that the usual six-month update grace period applies...
  7. Being an Australian firm, occasionally there are financial glitches between countries. Get in touch with NCH They will make it right. https://www.nch.com.au/support/reg.html Be sure that you registered VP via the Menu at the top-left. A box will drop down with a Registration link at the bottom. Follow the instructions to obtain your code. Upgrades are free for a six-month period, but if your version is doing well stick with it. You can always test drive the latest release, to check out new features or better performance. Retain your registration code and original installer. If mp4 export isn't available, try AVI. That may get you going until the app is properly registered. You can also try out the very latest version. When editing, Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite.
  8. The 8.x series is dated, but if it's doing the job stick with it. You can always test drive the latest, unlicensed. There should be no issue with .mov audio. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.

The releases in the page linked above were saved at time when the 64-bit version was offered. That may change. Rumour has it that the new architecture is being phased in.

  11. Click on the ? at the top-right of the VP window, then use <ctrl-F> for a FIND box, bottom-left. Search for "project template." Created a template with a single placeholder clip bordered by two, three-second transparent dice images. Then opened a new project and added two adjacent video clips for a duration of thirty-seconds. Applied the template. Sequence 2 launched, with this result... Templates do retain transparency. But placeholders don't seem that useful for the purpose being discussed here, and can be confusing. That said, if a template contains images/video (transparent or not), followed by a single video placeholder, then when that template is applied to a project, its content will be followed by all content from video track 1 of the project.
  12. Good to hear. If it happens again, go to OPTIONS | DISK tab and Clear Unused Cache Files. Then reboot.
  13. Not seeing that here. When the exported animated APNG still or video is overlaid in VP, transparency is gone. But this is being looked into. Using the Save Project/COPY/PASTE method outlined above (in the dice post) allows a transparent image/video and audio to be quickly applied to a project.
  14. Look closely at the VP home page... https://www.nchsoftware.com/videopad/index.html Note the links to two versions... Get it Free. A free video editor version is available for non-commercial use only. If you will be using it at home you can download the free version here. Unlicensed, both have limitations and, likely, purchase prompts. NCH wouldn't still be in business after 25 years if their products were free. My understanding... Unlicensed, the 'standard' download may not function after a trial period has ended. If mp4 downloads are blocked, AVI may work. If no exports are allowed, installing the free version should restore limited functionality. This isn't as clearly stated as it might be. Speak your mind here; this is primarily a users' forum. Overall NCH policy seems generous, considering that basic editing can be had for free, with no watermark. Licensed upgrades are free for six-months from purchase date and never expire. Stick with a version if it performs well. The latest can always be test driven, unlicensed, to check out features and quirks. Retain registration info.
  15. Perfectly understandable.😇 The intent here might be easier if transparency was saved via an APNG export. That's being looked into...

  17. Easily done, song-by-song. Or each song might be placed in its own sequence. Drop an mp3 onto the audio track. Add subtitles on the video track. You could place a blank clip (or any clip) on that track as well, to act as a background for the captions. Export each sequence as mp4. The Export All Sequences option could make this go quickly.
  18. Did you Import Clips From Another Project, then COPY that project's saved text clip in sequence 2 and PASTE (overlay) it in sequence 1?
  19. Do you mean that what's shown is not the full image? Or do you mean that the export lacks part of the project? To suss this out we need to take a look... Share your project. Someone will check it out and come up with a fix. The process is easy, quick and can be done privately. Just follow these steps... 20. Should have been clearer that any original with transparency can be used to create a video as above. Yes, transparency is lost after export. A saved snapshot will retain the transparency, as you noted, so that would work for title text. There is a way an animated logo or video with transparent background can be saved for use in other projects.. First, clear the sequence and save this logo/video alone as a project. Use chromakey (green screen) if appropriate. Then, while working on your current project, click FILE | IMPORT CLIPS FROM ANOTHER PROJECT and load that saved project. It will appear as Sequence 2. Switch to that tab and select the video track, right-click on it and press <ctrl-C>. Return to Sequence tab 1 and use <ctrl-V> to PASTE (overlay) the saved logo/video onto a higher track than the background. Transparency is retained. Here's an example made that way... test .mp4
  21. That was an attached H264 mp4 export, Nat. Yes, it's an emoticon chosen from the many. Displays okay here. And Bikegoddess should get the same result with any clip that has a transparent bg, whether it be an image or video. If it doesn't have transparency, then chromakey may serve, if the video has high contrast with the background and no conflicting colors.
  22. It's not entirely clear how you want this to look, but the videos, which have a transparent backgrounds, can be keyed over other images, as in the example here. Then fonts, which also have transparent backgrounds, can be added on higher tracks. Check your spelling on "industrials."🙂 Space Engineers test.mp4
  23. As you edit a project be sure to Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. That's your protection. Do not move or delete any source files until the project is no longer needed. Close Videopad. Restart, and before loading the project, click OPTIONS | DISK tab and Clear Unused Cache Files. Then load the project. Any better? If still no joy, please share your project. Someone will take a look and come up with a fix. The process is easy, quick and can be done privately. Just follow these steps...
