  1. ClamWin doesn't detect a virus in that file. Could be a false positive. Trend Micro's website about PAK_GENERIC.001 says:

    Pedals

There is a "Contact Technical Support" link on the Pedable Technical Support page.
  3. You can remove or remap the Express Scribe system-wide hot-key assignments under Options -> Control.
  4. Express Scribe alone can't do those things. Have you looked at Express Delegate? It has a rule builder for deciding which dictations are assigned to which typist(s) or typing pool(s).
  5. Thanks for testing. There will be a fix for this problem in the next release.
  6. RAR is an archive format. You need to decompress the audio file inside with a program like 7-Zip before you can open it with Scribe.
  7. This might sound a bit odd, but does the main window have an X position of 0? ie. Is it flush against the left side of your screen? If so, could you move it to the right a bit and try again?
  8. Resize the main window, close the application, then relaunch it. Did the main window keep the new size, or has it reverted to the default size? If it reverted to the default size then Scribe probably doesn't have permission to write to the registry. If Scribe can't write to the registry then you will see strange behaviour, like the welcome message repeating.
  9. This could mean either that Scribe has not detected your press on the Play pedal, or that the "Number of pedals" pull-down list is set incorrectly. Choose "GamePort1 or USB1" or "VEC Infinity USB pedals", depending on which foot pedals you bought, and 3 pedals, then try the "Foot pedal control setup wizard" again.
  10. You could change Windows' file associations to always associate Scribe with the relevant file extension, instead of QuickTime player. Alternatively, instead of opening the attachment directly from your email client, try right-clicking on the attachment, saving it to your hard disk, opening Scribe and using File -> "Load Dictation File(s)" to browse to it and load it.
  11. Where are you stuck? Have you found a way to transfer a file from the phone to Express Scribe?
  12. Do you have foot pedals that aren't fully supported in Express Scribe? Or are there foot pedals that you would like to buy, but can't / won't because Express Scribe doesn't fully support them?
  13. Do you have a dictation microphone that isn't fully supported in Express Dictate? Or is there a dictation microphone that you would like to buy, but can't / won't because Express Dictate doesn't fully support it?
  14. You need v4.27 or greater of Express Scribe to connect to an Express Delegate server. Once you upgrade Express Scribe, you'll be able to choose "Express Delegate" as the "Receive Method", rather than FTP. If the server and client are on the same LAN, the server address will just be the server's computer name. (In XP, right click on "My Computer", select Properties, and look on the "Computer Name" tab.) If you're connecting via the internet then you'll need a static IP address for the server, with a DNS service if you want to use a domain name instead of remembering that IP. Yes, assuming your client is accessing the server via the internet, then you will need to open and forward ports. Correct. If you're not set up to run your own server but you still want access to your dictations remotely then the simplest solution would probably be to find an FTP host. You can then remove Express Delegate from the equation altogether and configure Express Dictate and Express Scribe to access the FTP site directly. Although you would of course miss out on the more advanced work-flow management features of Express Delegate.
  15. If you've configured Express Scribe on several machines to use the same FTP folder as an incoming source then one of the other machines may already have downloaded the files. If you do need to distribute the work between several typists, Express Delegate may be a better solution.
  16. It's no longer possible to change file associations from within Scribe. Please see the release notes for v4.35 for more details.
  17. You shouldn't need the user name / password here. Yes.
  18. What, exactly, does the error message say?
  19. That's a great suggestion, although I'd recommend you use the "Send Improvement Suggestion or Feedback" link in the program's Help menu to make suggestions.
  20. Changes in Express Scribe v 4.35 for Windows: Changed: Multimedia keyboard playback control keys now work even when Express Scribe doesn't have focus. Removed: Conduit tool-bar installer from the install wizard. Removed: File extension associations from Options dialog. Please use Windows' default program feature instead. For Windows XP: Change the default program Windows XP uses to open a specific type of file For Windows Vista: Change which programs Windows uses by default
  21. Do you mean www.onlinefilefolder.com? They provide FTP acces, don't they? If so, then in Express Dictate, go to Options -> Sending -> New Recipient. On the Recipient tab, select FTP as the send method and fill in the FTP login details. You can change the file format to WAV on the File tab.
  22. Are these problems happening on all the machines, or only one? Are they long dictations? How much free disk space do you have? What do you mean "shut down completely"?
  23. The fact that other users can log in indicates that it's not a problem with the server. And the fact that this user can load the login page indicates that it's not a problem with her browser / network / firewall. I'd say it's just a simple case of checking the user name and password for obvious things like mismatched capitalisations, or white-space where it's not expected.
  24. Have you selected the correct "Receive Method" on the left-hand side? The default is Express Delegate, but you may need to change to FTP. The doctor or the relevant system administrator should have provided you with the address, user name and password for the server.
  25. Changes in MSRS v 4.10 for Windows: Fixed: Long registration names and / or location details no longer cause corruption in output XML files. Fixed: No longer get "Audio meta-data detected" error when uploading to an Express Delegate server. Fixed: Tags and notes were being lost when uploading to an Express Delegate server. Fixed: Less degradation of audio quality when uploading to an Express Delegate server. (Requires Express Delegate v4.02 or later for best results.) Fixed: "Custom command-line" send method wasn't removing recordings from the send queue after they were successfully sent.
