  2. What value is the "Speed (x%)" slider in the bottom-right corner of the main window set to? In Options -> Controller -> "Command map / test...", what command is mapped to the pedal you're pressing? Settings became Options a few versions ago, and not all of the documentation has been updated to reflect the change yet.
  3. What do you mean by "opened it with ES"? Are you trying to double-click on the file in Windows Explorer or on your desktop? If so, you can change the program associated with that file extension from Media Player to Scribe by following the instructions linked to in this old post.
  4. This shouldn't be a problem now, with the improvements that have been made to foot pedal support in Express Scribe v4.36.
  5. Time display format options were introduced in v4.36.
  6. Express Scribe can't load directly from a URL. You'll need to download the file first.
  7. Sorry, but that information is out of date. Yes, application-wide settings are stored in the registry. It's unrelated to what you're asking, but v4.36 is now available.
  8. Changes in Express Scribe v 4.36 for Windows: NOTE: Foot pedal and hand-held controllers must be reconfigured if upgrading from an earlier version. NOTE: System-wide hot-keys must be reconfigured if upgrading from an earlier version. Added: "Time remaining" time display mode. Added: Time display format option. Added: "Enable system-wide hot-keys" option. Added: Channels window values are now saved and loaded when Scribe is quit and relaunched. Fixed: Welcome message could reappear after being deleted. (No longer assume window X position of 0 means first run). Fixed: "Notes -> Insert -> Sender's Details" and "Notes -> Copy to Clipboard -> Sender's Details" no longer corrupt memory for long strings. Fixed: Channels window values are no longer reset to defaults when switching to Scribe Mini. Fixed: Channels window wasn't reappearing after minimising the application window using hot-keys. Fixed: "Load Dictation File(s)" dialog's list view now shows folders before files. Fixed: "Load Dictation File(s)" dialog's column widths are now saved and loaded. Fixed: Additional columns weren't being populated by XML tag data if the XML tags weren't at the beginning of the notes. Fixed: Dictations that have been added to the dictation list but have not yet finished loading no longer showing random durations. Fixed: Improved background thread management for better stability. Fixed: Memory was being leaked every time a dictation was loaded if "Speech to Text" was enabled. Controller status icon in the main window status bar (updated in real-time for plug and play controllers). More flexibility when mapping buttons / pedals to application commands. Improved interface for testing a configured controller. Improved support for controllers with more than three buttons / pedals. Improved support for tap lock. Support for serial ports other than COM1 / COM2 / COM3 / COM4. (Windows) No longer need third-party components such as piehid, vecusb, or vis. [*]Changed: DVS file decoder now reads files in LP mode and updated SP mode. [*]Changed: Now abort loading of queued dictations on startup if last run didn't exit cleanly. [*]Changed: Tray icon context menu items are now disabled when a modal dialog is open. [*]Removed: No longer check registy write permissions on application startup.
  9. Express Scribe for Windows can integrate with some speech-to-text software. Unfortunately, Express Scribe for OS X can't do the same.
  10. In Options -> "Disk Usage", what values are set for "Warn me when my hard drive space is below (MB)" and "Data Folder"?
  11. In Scribe, open the Options dialog and click the Control tab. Under "System Wide Hot Key Assignment", you can either delete the conflicting mapping or re-map it to another key combination.
  12. Sorry, that tutorial is out of date - that feature has been deprecated. However, it wouldn't have helped with automatic incoming. All it did was associate file types with Express Scribe so that when you double-clicked on them in Windows Explorer, they would open in Scribe. See the release notes for v4.35 for details of how to change file associations in Windows. Your best bet is to use Help -> "Send Improvement Suggestion or Feedback" to formally request the ability to select more file types for automatic incoming. The more people request the change, the more likely it will be implemented.
  13. You can load other file types manually by using File -> "Load Dictation File(s)", or dragging and dropping into the Scribe dictation list. Automatic incoming does not work for file types other than those listed above.
  14. No, you should be able to load from your hard disk, removable media, network shares - anything that Windows can use.
  15. You need to change the default program that's used to open that file extension. Instructions for Windows XP are here. Instructions for Windows Vista are here.
  16. Unfortunately, DSS format is not supported in the OS X version of Express Dictate.
  17. According to Olympus' website, the DS-5000 records in DSS Pro / DS2 format, which Express Dictate does not support, on Windows or OS X. Dictate has this feature.
  18. A DLL is a binary file generated by a compiler from source code written in a programming language (such as C). You really need to be a computer programmer to attempt this.
  19. If your recorder is playing back at 100% normal speed then make sure you disable the "Transfer at high speed" option in Scribe's Dock dialog.
  20. PHP is a web page extension. If you right-clicked on the link in your browser to save it, try left-clicking to follow it instead.
  21. Probably a codec problem, but you'll have to be more specific about what type of file you're trying to load, etc. There is a link for contacting technical support staff at the bottom of the Express Scribe Technical Support page.
  22. Delegate doesn't have a way to compress the active database (use the "Send Improvement Suggestion or Feedback" menu item to put an official request in if you'd like to see that), so the "Copy data to new database" button is probably your best bet, if you have the space. The SQLite method might work, but I wouldn't recommend it.
  23. Select all the rows in the dictation list and click File -> "Dictation information" and you'll see a "Total duration" field. You need Express Scribe v4.32 or later for this feature.
  24. There are step-by-step guides to setting up various kinds of pedals here.
