  1. AVI likely will be fine; check the WEBsite or target for their specifications. Still, VP should not lose audio or end prematurely upon export and folks would like to find out why. Be sure that no audio tracks are soloed or muted (at the left of the track). What version of the program are you using now? The latest beta version is here. THE best way to track this down is for you to share a project. It's easy, takes only minutes and can be done privately. Here's how... http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/23659-tips-for-getting-help-on-this-forum/ If it contains sensitive material link it in a personal message (PM). Click the envelope above. It won't be passed on or retained. Use FILE|SAVE PORTABLE PROJECT AS, not simply SAVE PROJECT, and don't forget to share it.

    No audio at all

Use version 8.20. Though it couldn't be reproduced on this PC, some users had audio loss in version 8.10, which 8.18 fixed. It's understood that you tested the beta. Try Videopad on another PC if available, to isolate whether this is an issue with your specific machine. CHAT seems to be up and down. Success on 3/29 at 7:30 PST. https://www.nch.com.au/support/regcontact.html To post a link to a screenshot or file in this forum follow the instructions here.
  3. Open the files in a player and look at their PROPERTIES | DETAILS or MEDIAINFO, as in the MPC-BE player from https://sourceforge.net/projects/mpcbe/ You may see something like this... If they are MUXED, use a free demuxer on each file to extract audio. http://www.pazera-software.com/products/audio-extractor Then In Videopad UNlink the A/V in the original file and substitute the new audio file that was extracted. Or mute the original audio and place the new file on the track beneath it. If you have a problem seeing whether these files are muxed, please upload a 'bad' clip to a free server, share the link and post it here.
  4. An 'upgrade' likely isn't necessary, but buying another license may be. A Videopad FAQ states... "What restrictions apply to the license? If the license is named as an "Installation License" the main restriction is you need to purchase one license serial number for each computer that the program runs on. Can I move the software or reinstall the software in future? Within reason - yes. As long as the software does not continue to run on the old computer you can install the software on a new computer. As a piracy control measure we do limit the number of installations to 2 times in any 12 month period. Note: we do run an anti-piracy system which can detect multiple installs. But as long as the software (with one serial number) runs on one PC at any one time, you will not have problems." If this doesn't answer your question, go here https://www.nch.com.au/support/regcontact.html
  5. Please note NotADevWinkWink's reply above. When direct uploads do not succeed, simply export the file to your PC in a YT approved format. Then use their uploader... https://youtu.be/6C4dEpT0rYg Works fine and is just about as fast as the direct route.
  6. How long is the project? Also, please mention the format and resolution of the bulk of the clips: HD, 2K, 4K? If 4K, try exporting at HD or 2K resolution. Problems can often be tracked down if a project is shared. It's easy, takes but a few minutes and can be private. Sure can't say that you haven't tried. Did you use the REVO uninstaller and give it permission to delete all files, including those in the registry? When you place a single audio/video clip on the sequence, is there sound? The 'side panel' is apparently the BIN (top-left) where clips are imported. When you import a clip there and double-click it, is there sound? Have you downloaded the finished product from the supplied link?

You can see CPU and RAM specs by clicking the Windows 10 notification icon (far right-bottom of the screen), then ALL SETTINGS | ABOUT. They are listed there. When you state "If I disconnect the audio from the clip and move it to the side panel, it should give me a separate audio track that I can use elsewhere" to what SIDE PANEL are you referring? Please close the program, then restart it. Before loading anything, Clear Unused Cache Files. Then reload the project. If the audio track is still flatline, try the UNinstaller/reinstall suggestion.

If you don't get a response to the email use the CHAT feature. https://www.nch.com.au/support/regcontact.html Again, what are the PC specs? CPU/GPU/RAM? Have you downloaded this as protection, so the server can be cleared? The issue is baffling as it can't be replicated by Nat or me using versions 8.10, 8.12. or the latest beta. Is there no audio from the sequence only after export or is it missing as you are editing as well - played in preview? If the latter, confirm the volume slider is to the far right and that no clips are muted. The track should like the image below for every clip... There should be no RED X on any speaker icon. Click on each speaker icon. In the box that appears, be sure that the volume slider is far RIGHT. Last ditch efforts... Clear Unused Cache Files, under OPTIONS | DISK tab. Do a full UNinstall, using this free tool. Then reinstall the latest version.
  10. Videopad installs to the C:\ operating system drive. However, the caching drive can be set under OPTIONS | DISK tab.
  11. Never would have guessed. Thanks for checking in. Tested the direct VP upload at 2 AM PST and it succeeded. Using YouTube's interface to upload a file that has been exported from Videopad to the PC is relatively easy and quick.
  12. Save the YT approved file to the PC. Go to YouTube and use their uploader to search for the file saved to the PC. There is no need to use Drive. https://youtu.be/6C4dEpT0rYg This method has been confirmed here, with a direct upload of an mp4 file from this PC. Suggest that you go that route for now. The Videopad failure to see the YouTube account is seen here as well in the latest version. See the post below from NotADevWinkWink.

Visit this page, explain the situation and include your old address. https://www.nch.com.au/support/regcontact.html There should also be a CHAT prompt where help may be available. After the licensing issue is solved, try this version. You might even test it now. Have you downloaded the completed project from the above link?

Folks in this forum are very responsive, as seen above. As Nat verified, the project plays just fine, after making the balance slider centering adjustment. Please list the specs for your PC: CPU/GPU/RAM and free space on C/
  15. https://www.nchsoftware.com/videopad/kb/1409.html What version of Videopad is in use? Try this one, with the caveat: updates are free for paid users up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Is the intermediate step truly necessary? https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/57407?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en You should be able to export in Videopad to the PC in a YT accepted format, then use their uploader. In attempting a direct YT upload from VP, be sure to give permission for VP to access your Google account.
  16. Rechecked this, and it does not happen in this version here. After deleting the default folder on the C drive, assigning cache to D:\VP_cache restarting VP writes those files to that folder. The default folder is not recreated. When starting VP and immediately Clearing Unused Cache Files prior to loading any clips, the D:\ drive folder is emptied.

    editing videos

If this is a gap, enter Storyboard mode where it can be easily seen and deleted. If it's video, expand the timeline with the slider at the right-bottom of the window. That will allow for more precise splitting. To move the red-lined cursor frame by frame use the buttons under the preview window.
  18. Mp4 and AVI are containers for various codecs, some of which may perform better with certain projects. As an example, using their respective H264 encoders, a project here would not export as Mp4, but succeeded as AVI. How you describe handling the clips doesn't seem to be an issue. The 4K reference was an observation that very large files can bog down any editor.
  19. VP engineers are regularly apprised of issues, and quickly deal with those that are serious. Clearing Unused Cache Files prior to beginning a new production and perhaps prior to export isn't a bad idea. Performance deterioration over time hasn't been reported routinely, AFAIK. That said, there can be slowdowns when dealing with 4K material or very large files. In general, for best efficiency... Allow the sequence to fully cache (completed greens lines above thumbnails). If operation seems sluggish, consider employing PROXY editing. This approach is not exclusive to VP. There is no specified track number limitation. 50 have been seen in a project tested here. Yet, good practice and memory management suggests that they be kept to a reasonable level. At clean cut points where there is no content overlap, overlay new clips on lower tracks that already have content instead of adding a new track. Memory may be insufficient for some 4K projects, and export may fail or be partial. Output at 2K or HD resolution and the result should be good. Try the AVI container instead of the default Mp4.
  20. It is free for non-commercial use, but some features won't work. The scope of those limitations may vary from version to version. To avoid this, consider a purchase.
  21. Here, too, cache acts as expected. Pointed it to D:\VP_cache and deleted the default C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Temp\ on drive C:. Restarted VP and caching went to D:\VP_cache. The default location was not recreated. However, there is a VP Audio cache on the C drive that apparently cannot be changed. When Clear Unused Cache Files was used after restarting the program, and before anything was loaded, all files vanished.
  22. Upload a snapshot or video or what you are seeing. Here's how... http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/23659-tips-for-getting-help-on-this-forum/ If the problem is that the split pop up is vertical, instead of like this... that can be changed. Reinstall the program (no need to download again) and the pop up should eventually appear as above. This can take several tries. Nat, please post a picture or video of this as it's unclear to me what you see.
  23. Appears to be machine specific, as it works fine here. Drop a note to NCH and list your hardware specs. https://tinyurl.com/vueemd2
  24. Thanks for sharing your files. Imported both to the video bin, right-clicked and STABILIZED. No issue with either. Both looked good. Suggest you update to this version. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
  25. Try the export as an AVI. That should succeed in the non-licensed version. If it does not, install this version. Be sure to back up the project first.
