  1. The above discussion refers to how thumbnails are chosen and displayed in Videopad. When a video is exported, the player, such as Windows Media Player, usually uses its first frame for the thumbnail. So, if the video fades up from black, the thumb will likely be black. If you are exporting a still image file or files and all you see are black frames, then something is wrong. Please give more specific details about the content, and exactly what you are doing.
  2. Reinstall Videopad repeatedly, testing the behavior each time until it inserts. No need to download again. This may take a number of tries but installing is very quick. The same-numbered version has several slight variants. It's not a bug, but it can be confusing. As for tech support... https://tinyurl.com/r89tpcw You can also click the chevron at the top-right of the VP window to send a suggestion or file a bug.
  3. What format is being used for export? Or are you attempting a direct export to YouTube, Google Drive or the like? The issue likely can be solved if you share your project. It's easy, takes but a minute or two and can be private. Here's how... http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/23659-tips-for-getting-help-on-this-forum/ If it contains sensitive material link it in a personal message (PM). Click the envelope above. It won't be passed on or retained. Use FILE|SAVE PORTABLE PROJECT AS, not simply SAVE PROJECT, and don't forget to share it.
  4. SAVE PROJECT creates a VPJ file. It tells VP where to find the source files and how to handle effects, transitions, etc. Apparently,, the file paths on the PCs differ. To correctly use a project between machines, first load it fully to the timeline on the first machine. Then click the 3-lined 'hamburger' menu at the top-left of the window. Click on FILE, then on SAVE PORTABLE PROJECT AS. This will create a folder containing the VPJ and all source files. Copy that folder to the other PC, open it and double-click the VPJ file to load the project. Do not simply SAVE PROJECT. Save PORTABLE project as.
  5. It's the same on the Windows version, Bob, and has been reported. Suggest that you slide the narration track a half-second (or so) later. If there are are multiple clips separated by gaps, select them all and then drag to the right. One little trick, for more precision, is to first place a half-second blank audio clip at the head of the track. Then a continuous narration lines up well.
  6. What VP version is being used? Here's the latest. Give it a try. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. If it's still a problem, please check back in. Detail specifics on the method that you use to record narration.
  7. Aim for a resolution that closely matches that of the source files. The suggested 'auto-match' resolution is often a good choice. You hint that attempts to save are failing. What, specifically, occurs? Have you tested another format, such as AVI? What version of VP is being used (listed at the bottom-left of the window) and is it licensed?
  8. Is this the unlicensed version, which may have limited export capability after a trial period? You mentioned updating. Did you try VP beta version 8.28? If the problem persists, install this version. Still no joy? Mention the version # (listed at the bottom-left of the interface) and describe exactly what happens when you attempt to export to a file. Two recent direct-to-YT uploads here succeeded.
  9. You have tacked on to a very old thread. Please start a new one with a descriptive subject and info on exactly what issues you see.
  10. Titles may be limited in the free Mac version; can't say as it's not available here. But the fade issue hints at a bug. Report it.
  11. Looks just fine here, using Windows v8.28 - fades intact. Exported lossless in just seconds. Test a different export format, say AVI or MOV, and see if it loses the fades. This may be a MAC issue. File a bug report by clicking the chevron at the top-right of the Videopad interface.
  12. What is the format of the source files? How long is the project? What version of the program is being used? Share your work and someone will check it out, and likely come up with a fix. 14. What is the resolution of the bulk of the content - 2K, 4K? If 4K, lower export res to 2K or HD (1080) and try again. Try an AVI export, instead of Mp4. If you share your project here or in private someone will check it out and likely come up with a fix. It's not difficult to do, and takes but a few minutes. 15. Ignore the estimate; it's notoriously inaccurate. Check the file size after export. The 'auto-match' setting is a suggestion.. Change it to suite your needs.
  16. Right-click in the track area that is to the right of where the project should end. Click on DELETE SEQUENCE GAP and see if that fixes it. It also easy to spot gaps on video track 1 within the project . Switch to Storyboard mode.
  17. Please see this thread. Succeeded here in the wee hours (PDT). YT may do a reset each day, allowing more direct uploads.
  18. Great advice from Nat. Here's how to build an 8-screen split where the same clip is appears on both sides of each quadrant. Separate clips could be used instead. 1. Load four clips 2. Drop clip one onto the sequence 3. Add the A-side split effect 4. Add a motion effect with scale at .50, base X at -50, base Y at -50 5. Save the effect (fourth icon from the left on the effects toolbar) and name it 6. Overlay the same clip on track two, immediately above track one 7. Apply the saved effect (It's your custom effect icon - scroll the effects list to the bottom to locate it) 8. Click the B-side split Overlay clip two onto the sequence and apply the saved effect Set base X at -50, base Y at 50 Overlay clip two onto the sequence again and apply the saved effect Set base X at -50, base Y at 50 and apply the B-side split Overlay clip three onto the sequence and apply the saved effect Set base X at 50, base Y at 50 Overlay clip three onto the sequence again and apply the saved effect Set base X at 50, base Y at 50 and apply the B-side split Overlay clip four onto the sequence and apply the saved effect Set base X at 50, base Y at -50 Overlay clip four on the sequence again and apply the saved effect Set base X at 50, base Y at -50 and apply the B-side split All clips should be the same aspect ratio or alignment/cropping issues could result.
  19. The developers are working on intermittent YouTube direct upload issues. Sometimes it succeeds, at others it does not. Seems to work better in the middle of the night. The alternative, though more time consuming, is to export in a YT-approved format, then use their uploader. A Google Drive upload was successful here, using VP beta version 8.28. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. If you test the beta, retain your old install file and registration info. File a report by clicking the chevron at the top-right of the Videopad interface.
  20. Patch the mixer into the PC (LINE input). Videopad can record from it directly, outputting a WAV file. The RECORD button appears under the HOME and AUDIO menu tabs. Record volume will depend upon PC output loudness. Best to have it peak only occasionally in the red. But the WAV file can be adjusted later via audio effects.
  21. Is the volume normal when double-clicking the file in the BIN, but low when placed onto the sequence? Verify that the volume slider is all the way to the right... If that's not the problem, test the latest version. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Still low? Share a file or two that does this. It's easy and takes but a minute. Upload the file to a free server, such as Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive. Share the file (make it public) and copy the shared link. Post that link here so others can access it.

After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. If the problem isn't solved, try AVI export instead of Mp4. If STILL no joy, please upload and share your work so someone here can analyse the project. 23. It's not related to your email, but a possible traffic load issue between VP and Youtube. Occasionally, it causes what you are seeing. But there's an easy way around it. Simply export your video in any YT-approved format, then use their uploader. This should tell you all you need to know... https://tinyurl.com/w9rntt9
