  1. If the file that you linked earlier plays on the PC that hints that something is converting or decoding it. Or perhaps it's linked and playing from an on-line server?? Inspected here, the file won't load in the Google Drive player, WMP, Groove music or any local player, much less Videopad. It does 'run' in MPC-BE, but no sound. The file supplied here earlier for you to test plays fine in Videopad and every other app, using standard Realtek settings in Windows 10.
  2. Again, can you play any music on the PC? Do you get any sounds? Is the file that you downloaded dead in all media players or just in Videopad? If no sounds whatsoever, the sound card or adapter may be defective or drivers may need to be reloaded.
  3. The file that you downloaded is definitely good, and is unrelated to ITunes. So if it has no sound in a player or in Videopad then something else is amiss. Do any music files play? Right-click the Windows speaker icon at the right of the taskbar and click Windows Mixer. Are the sliders muted or turned down? In Videopad, right-click at the left of the audio track. Confirm it's not muted and that the volume slider is full. Right-click the individual audio clip and be sure it's not muted.
  4. Tested with several media players and Videopad, there is either no sound or an error. Conversion also fails. Seems that this file is corrupt. Try downloading it with different settings, if available.
  5. Mp4 is normally an audio/video file, and it should load as well. The DRM could be a factor. Let's take a look... Share a file or two. It's easy. Here's how... Upload the file/s to a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, get a shared (public) link, copy the link and paste it here or to me in a Private Message via the mail envelope in the top-right corner of this forum. When using Google Drive, if necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view."
  6. What's the file extension of the music - WAV, MP3, MP4, M4A, AIF, AIFF?
  7. In Windows Explorer (the file manager) are file extensions shown? If not, open explorer, click the File menu (upper left). Click Change Folder and Search Options, then click the VIEW tab. Scroll down to Hide File Extensions for Known File Types and UNcheck its box. Now open Explorer to the Music folder and report what file extension is shown for the desired music file. If it's a typical one, as mentioned above, then Videopad should have no trouble loading it. Open Videopad, click ADD FILES. Do exactly what you just did to find the Music file. Click on that file. Music.mp4
  8. Is the music stored on a PC? If it's a standard file type - WAV, mp3, etc. - then ADD FILES on the Videopad toolbar (or via a right-click in the bin) should bring up the Windows file manager. Locate the directory/folder where the music resides and click on the desired file.
  9. ZOOM has functioned the same at least since version 7.51, which was released in early 2020 - and perhaps earlier. What version was being used when it performed differently? When you say "decoupled" do you mean that this were video files that were UNlinked? What happened when the back-up file was opened? Search for an Autosave.vpj file in C:/Users/<username>/AppData/Roaming/NCH Software/VideoPad.
  10. Choosing a ZOOM Aspect Ratio preset may help... Or use the CROP effect instead, and SCALE if necessary. Search for other VPJ files on the PC - it's possible that you are loading an earlier save. A VPJ file loads a project exactly as it was when the file was saved. Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. From the HOME tab, that choice is available by clicking the chevron to the right of the Save Project button on the toolbar. Never move or delete source files until certain that the project will never be edited again.
  11. The VPJ is a control file that tells the program what to do and where to find files. It's not playable. Create it by routinely using Save Project Files AS. Give it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. From the HOME tab, that choice is available by clicking the chevron to the right of the Save Project button on the toolbar. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. When the VPJ is double-clicked it will load the project exactly as it was in when the file was created. If it cannot find the files it will prompt to resolve each. Do not move or delete the source files until you are certain that the project will never again need to be edited. Exporting is something else. Exports wind up as an mp4, MOV, AVI, etc. file - whichever you choose - and can be viewed in a media player.
  12. Keyframes can decide where an effect starts or ends within a clip. The above example could have just as easily looked like this... Now, the effect appears after the start of the clip and disappears prior to the end, for this result... First and second keyframes are zero opacity. Third and fourth are 100%. Fifth is zero. keyframes.mp4
  13. Split the video where you want the effect to begin and end. That creates a new clip to which an effect can be applied. To fade the spotlight on/off animate the OPACITY slider... Start with a zero opacity keyframe. Slightly later program a 100% keyframe. Do the opposite at the end of the clip. Or apply a CROSSFADE transition at the start and end of the clip.
  14. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. But you can always test drive the latest release, unlicensed, to check out new features, fixes or glitches.
  15. No harm in asking. https://www.nch.com.au/suggestions/index.html
  16. Haven't spotted control over this, other than a right-click on an audio track and Change Clip Classification. This is a test feature that isn't available with some installs, and may or may not survive in the future.
  17. Glad it made sense. Be aware that using Overlap can result in a sync issue if audio is not linked to video, as the video will be slightly shortened while audio is unaffected. If they ARE linked (a typical A/V clip), then both audio and video will be shortened.
  18. If these are typical linked audio/video clips, a CROSSFADE video transition will also crossfade the audio. If both clips do not have enough excess unused content (that is not be seen on the timeline) to accommodate the fade duration, and the OPTIONS | EDITING tab Video transition default setting is Ask Me, a prompt will appear... If freeze is chosen, audio on the FROM clip will fade out and audio from the TO clip will fade in. If overlap is the choice, audio will crossfade. If the crossfade is to be applied to only the audio tracks, offset the two tracks. Position the red-lined cursor where the fade is to begin, right-click either audio track and choose CROSSFADE. Set a duration. The audio tracks will then look like this. Note the blue lines that show the fade...
  19. Select (highlight) the text first, then the font, bold, ital, and underline features can be applied.
  20. Exports perfectly here, just as you programmed it, using either the 32- or 64-bit current 10.56 release. For best efficiency, suggest not loading any clips that won't be used in the project, though that would not have caused your issues. Your recent video driver should be good; NVidia updates often.
  21. Never has there been a report that clips dragged to a different track snap back to the original. Clips that are dragged to the right on the same track may snap in some VP builds. In others, a gap is created. Close it with a right-click | CLOSE GAP. If clips snap back, hold down <alt> while dragging.
  22. The checkerboard represents the transparent area, which is created when the video is resized. If the video were overlaid above another track, that track's image would show through the transparent area. In essence, picture-in-picture. Add the SCALE effect to enlarge the clip to full frame. Or use ZOOM instead, which should achieve that goal in with a single effect.
  23. Did you install the latest VP version? Did you check whether the video driver and Direct-X are up to date? That others cannot replicate this, despite repeated attempts, hints that VP is not interacting well with your AMD card. Test different export formats and codecs by clicking the Default Quality/Filesize blue link in the export box. Try using the MPEG4 compressor with mp4 format. Try AVI format. Again, if at all possible, test on another machine.
  24. It shouldn't hang. Need to see the project, as instructed above, to diagnose the issue. Please upload it, complete with all effects/transitions that tend to hang.
  25. The best way to track this down is to let others run the project. The process is easy, quick and can be done privately. Just follow these steps... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file. Get link --- Get a public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view" Share --- Click COPY LINK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me. It won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server. Also be sure that the video driver and Direct-X are up to date... https://www.nch.com.au/kb/10265.html
