  1. no it uses LAME. Fraunhofer is a proprietary codec so we don't use it.

hi, read the post above yours.
  3. 1) just to let you all know, we link to the freedb central server which redirects any requests to the first available mirror server. sometimes the central server is down though unfortunately. we will see what we can do about improving access to the servers. 2) both free and commercial versions of express rip have the same features, the difference is you can carry on using the non-commercial features in the free version indefinitely. 3) if your email was rejected, please copy and paste the text of the error your email client returned into a post. we do not deliberately reject emails, you don't have to be a paying customer to contact us. if we were microsoft, you would need to be of course, but we are not microsoft.

    Illegal Operation

there are a number of problems with the MP3 wave codec that comes with Windows, it is not a very good codec. Please download the LAME ACM codec here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/LAME_ACM_Codec.htm and install this. You will get better results from this codec.

we're working on the fix, don't worry!
  9. we are working hard on better large file handling, if it was easy to do the problem would have been fixed a long time ago. thanks for the support jerry!
  10. tip: you can write your email address in forums, just don't write it *properly* e.g. don't write [name]@[domain.com] instead do something like [name] [at] [domain.com] the bots scouring the web aren't quite smart enough to pick that up. I've been using this "technique" for awhile and I only get maybe 1 piece of spam a week.
  11. no you have to use Express Scribe to do that nch.com.au/scribe
  12. are you sure you got the right folder? Have you tried a different folder like "C:\" ? are you sure the conversion succeeded? maybe it failed?
  13. unfortunately with wma, if it doesn't work there isn't much else we can do. We are using Microsoft DirectX to decode the file, we are not using some sort of custom-built plugin. maybe check to see if you have the latest DirectX? The latest is version 9.0c. www.windowsupdate.com
  14. it does take you to the codecs, you download the plugin .exe file and then you double-click the exe file to install the codecs. what link did you find for v1.28 of the plugin out of curiousity?
  15. we sort of already did it in the help documentation, all you have to do is browse through it for things that say "Switch Plus feature"
  16. I am less familiar with WinME, do you have administrator / restricted login setups? If its not working, that means Switch cannot write information into your Windows registry (i.e. you do not have write-access to the registry).
  17. you have to use Express Scribe to do that nch.com.au/scribe
  18. and you have an IC class recorder bought in USA, Latin America or Canada?
  19. http://www.nch.com.au/scribe/sony.html
  20. i honestly have no idea how to do that.
  21. FAQ http://www.nch.com.au/acm/support.html#OMA
  22. you only get the ACM error if the file has a .wav extension to it - does it?
  23. we don't know of any such plugin sorry.
  24. I'll assume you read the following statements from the readme file: "This dedicated software enables the playback of compressed IC Recorder voice files (.DVF and .MSV) with the Windows™ Media Player application, version 6.4 or higher." "NOTE: This utility is only for use with the products identified above and sold in the United States, Latin America, or Canada. Not all models are sold in all countries." IF your recorder falls into the categories described above, then as the next step, please update your DirectX drivers. www.windowsupdate.com Check your DirectX version by going to Start -> Run -> type "dxdiag" When the utility opens, you will see lots of information. Among that info, should be something saying "DirectX version". You need to have at least DirectX 9.0c.
  25. what version of windows are you running?
