  1. update: audible mentioned on their website that their format is proprietary and it is not legal to convert it to other formats.
  2. if the -hide command isn't working, then its a problem we will have to fix for the next version.
  3. you may be missing the component for converting from/to m4a, it should have auto-downloaded, but you can find it here: encoder: http://www.nch.com.au/components/aacenc.exe decoder: http://www.nch.com.au/components/aacdec.exe those are installer files, double click them to install the components.

    .kar

the midi format will be supported in the next switch, if kar is exactly the same you will be able to change the file extension to .mid and have it work. if kar is a bit different then it won't work.
  5. what does "export" mean ? once you convert them its sitting in the destination folder you specified on your computer, you can do whatever you like with it from there.
  6. we don't have any dss support on the mac switch sorry. supported formats on windows and mac are covered in this FAQ question: http://www.nch.com.au/switch/faq.html#ABA
  7. are these .dss files you are talking about? you have may recorded them in LP mode, which switch doesn't support (and it mentions this in the help too). try recording in SP mode and see if that is different.
  8. well actually i think you have 2 separate issues there. 1) to get switch free go here : http://nch.com.au/switch/index.html 2) i'm not sure what is causing your other problem, but then i dont really know what you mean when you say "there seems to be no way to convert wav to mp3", its almost like you are saying the options are not there.
  9. it is unlikely you would find any software that could do what you want. you have to contact toshiba and ask them.
  10. i think you'll find that switch just doesn't list the proper names within the program itself, once you do the convert it should come out okay. if you only want to do CD to MP3 conversion, consider instead using our Express Rip software, that software lets you customize the naming format to your liking. get it at http://nch.com.au/rip .
  11. dvf files converted to other formats, especially at high quality, will always produce much larger file sizes. that is the nature of the dvf format itself, it compresses quite heavily. if you are just recording voice you can first convert to PCM wave 16-bit 8000Hz mono, and then after that you can convert to mp3, that may produce a smaller file. if you are having problems with files that are too big to upload, also consider using our new program "Slice" which can split the file for you (as long as its an mp3 file). get it at http://www.nch.com.au/splitter/index.html .
  12. check mark = conversion successful cross = conversion unsuccessful musical note = you loaded a file but you haven't tried to convert it yet
  13. if you want to convert *to* cda, you are using the wrong software, Express Burn is what you are looking for. http://nch.com.au/burn switch does *not* say anywhere that it converts *to* CDA.
  14. switch does *not* convert *to* cda, quote me the text from our website where it says that, because I cannot for the life of me find it anywhere.
  15. hi, "ordinary audio format" is technically not a format, what do you *really* mean? wave files are about as ordinary as ordinary gets, wave and mp3 are the two most used formats going around.
  16. what extension are you converting to ? i am unaware of any extension in switch that could possibly link you to the original file you converted from, so what you are saying is not possible, you must be interpreting incorrectly what is happening. an an experiment, try converting to different folders, also try different formats too and see what the result is. i am currently unaware of any problem in switch like this.
  17. with mp3 cds you just copy and paste the files onto your computer using windows explorer, you don't need special software for that. for putting timecodes, wavepad (nch.com.au/wavepad) lets you add bookmark points into the file, and as long as the other person is using wavepad they can access those bookmarks. i am also working on the industry standard BWF and CART extensions to the wave format for the next switch.
  18. mrossen got it completely correct. also, if you were to have searched the sound file formats forum, you would have realised this is the most discussed format in that forum, everything is covered there. also, if you were to have read the links ***stickied at the top of this forum*** you would have noticed this in one of the linked pages: atrac (.oma, .omg, .atp) - the newer style Sony proprietary format designed for minidisc use. It always has a .oma, .omg or .atp file extension. It is similar to mp3 and probably only useful if you are reading files from minidiscs or writing for minidiscs. ***Note most of these files are rights managed so you cannot open them in any software programs.***
  19. it sounds like you are doing the right thing there. check you are converting from PCM wave format (i.e. using the PCM codec for your original file). Also as an experiment, try converting to GSM 6.10 with a higher sample rate and see if the files sound different.
  20. what happens when you ask for support via http://www.nch.com.au/switch/support.html ? support queries sent through that method should be responded to within a few days (we get upwards of a hundred or more emails every day, which is lot for a business of our size) , but if your query is taking more than a week for a response, just let us know in this thread or make a new thread if you like. i saw switch working on OS X Tiger just last week, so we will have to work with you to find out what your issue is.
  21. hello, NCH Swift Sound prides itself on having the highest quality software given to you in the lowest filesize possible. The file you download from our website *is* the whole program. We go to great lengths to make filesizes small, one reason is that we dont like wasting bandwidth (yours or ours), another is that it is bad software design to make programs that are too big in filesize for the sort of content they contain.
  22. Please send us an email with your query via http://www.nch.com.au/pbx/support.html We apologise for not providing a high quality of support on the forums, our resources are stretched assisting customers via email and we don't often have time to browse this forum.
  23. - This forum is a place to ask questions about our Axon Virtual PBX Software. - This forum is NOT to be used as your primary means of contacting NCH. If you want to get in touch with us, please do so through our tech support and FAQ pages. - If you would like to ask and discuss various things with other members of the NCH community, however, please post in the forum.
