  1. given that the mp3 standard only supports 2 channels at most, what is probably happening is that your sound device is mapping the stereo file into 4.1 channels and playing it that way. the main difference between media player and our software is media player uses the DirectX sound drivers, whereas we use the standard Windows drivers. That is probably why you are getting this issue, your sound card's standard Windows drivers are not letting you play in a 4.1 environment. 2) wavepad has no "pause" feature, you are hitting the "scrub" button which plays a very small bit of audio at the cursor location in an endless loop.
  2. do you get different results if you use express burn instead? www.nch.com.au/burn
  3. there is currently no way to do that, sorry. we're happy to make a special version for you that does that though (for a fee), send all requests to http://www.nch.com.au/development/index.html
  4. yes, wavepad amplifies up to 400% and comes with noise reduction tools as well. you can try it out for yourself of course : www.nch.com.au/wavepad

  8. olympus are the only people who can potentially help you, and if they say "no" then you are stuck unfortunately.
  9. it may not be possible for you to convert *your* act files to wave or mp3 regardless of how many updates we do, I have heard of many variations on the ACT format and we just dont know how to support them all. we are attempting to support a second variation of the .act format for the next switch release, but whether we succeed or not is another question.
  10. mp3 data has to be decoded first before you can convert it, you may have to look for documenation for the format on the net. or you can purchase a hard copy of the standard from your local standards agency. if you dont want to do all that, try using the switch command line to do the decoding for you (see the documentation for more details).
  11. what you suggested looks fine, if you are after the specifics just use the switch command line tool to do it (see the switch documentation for more details).
  12. you probably burned the cd as audio, in which case you will only see .cda files there. the proper wave audio files are hidden on audio cds. if you really want to see the .wav files try burning a cd as "data" in express burn.
  13. my mistake, download and install this ac3filter and try again thanks http://ac3filter.net/index.php?name=Sectio...cle&artid=5
  14. if you downloaded the files from the iTunes store, they are protected files and you can't convert them to anything. your iPod should happily accept your files as they are though, you shouldn't need to convert them.
  15. no its not an "annoy me" feature, we're looking into it.
  16. yeah i think under our new code library the splash screen won't be showing when hiding, so that also should be finding its way into the next release.
  17. download wavepad again and try it, it works now www.nch.com.au/wavepad
  18. we actually can't help, not because we don't want to, but because no one here is experienced enough with using Wine on Linux. this office mainly follows the MS way of life.
  19. just use Switch and call the mp3 encoder / decoder from the command line. see the "Using the Switch command line tool" section in the Switch help documentation. www.nch.com.au/switch
  20. do those files have a file extension .gsm ? try loading them into switch and converting them to wave (www.nch.com.au/switch)
  21. use recordpad to record it to wave (www.nch.com.au/recordpad) then use switch to convert it to aiff (www.nch.com.au/switch) FYI: mac supports wave too (and mp3)
