  1. Hi On my PC aacenc3.exe is found in the the Programs/NCHSoftware/Components folder. Whether or not it runs from there in connection with Videopad I am not sure as it's an addon for the NCH Golden Videos VHS-DVD software. (Which I have had installed in the past...(Use Dazzle hardware and the accompanying disc program now)) The components folder at (user name)/AppData/Roaming/NCH Software/Components does not seem to contain aacenc3.exe. I think I would place it in the Programs/NCHSoftware/Components folder and forget it. It's OK here. Nat
  2. Hi Seems to work OK here with VP 8.91 Move red cursor line to insert point Select (right click) the clip in the clip bin Select Place on Sequence/Place on Sequence at Cursor The clip is inserted at the cursor and the timeline pushed along... Nat
  3. Hi If you can put up with slightly lower contrast and detail have you tried converting your raw files to a different format? As an example ... 6 short MPG4 clips H264 1920 x 1080 took up 252 MB I converted these to 6 identical sized MPEG2 clips at high quality setting which then occupied 81 MB. The saving in space is considerable but it IS at the expense of definition although at normal resolutions you would be hard pressed to see the difference..... here is a slightly reduced full screen VLC image of both clips placed one above the other... The lower half is the mpeg2 and the upper is the mpeg4 If one enlarges the difference becomes obvious.... Left is mpeg2 and Right is mpeg4 These are enlargements from a similar part of each format... It's an idea possibly Nat
  4. Hi Share it to GD as Borate describes by all means but check a couple of things first... Does your project play as you want it to when you preview it in VP? Does "wrong places" mean screen positions or time positions? Check your graphics for overlay have been placed on Video Track 2 and if they are full frame with no transparent areas that you have scaled them down to reveal the video on Track 1 It's a good idea to use dual displays (Options/Display) as it's easier to monitor movement effects etc. Nat
  5. Hi Add effects in this order. Scale Rotate Position Scale should be sufficient that the reduced image can rotate within the frame otherwise areas will be cut off. Once reduced in size and rotated it can be moved anywhere. Nat
  6. Hi One possible thing to check is the PC sound mixer. In Windows and with your project open open in VP, click the loudspeaker at the bottom right corner of the desktop. This will open the Windows sound mixerand there should be a volume control for VP there (see below.) Check that the slider is not at the bottom. (VP must be open or the volume slider will not be seen.) This volume control is specific for VP so the project preview in VP will be muted even though the VP volume settings are normal. Your project export however, playing in another program like VLC, will be OK. Nat
  7. Hi If you have to use it again remember that you can pick ANY color on display ANYWHERE on the screen if you use the pipette. Just click the pipette and move the mouse (which now becomes a pipette) to any shade/color on the screen. In this way you can make any shade transparent. Nat
  8. Hi Usually adding scaled down overlays as Borate describes is straightforward. However, without seeing your project or a short extract that is showing the problem it's difficult to evaluate it. However as a suggestion; are you viewing your editing using dual displays? if not, set it up under Options/Display. Overlays etc. are more easily monitored when you can see both clip and sequence simultaneously. Nat
  9. Hi Another possible way... Create just the text clip as a project (even several text clips if you need them.) Now Save Project As . Give it a name like TEXT CLIPS This will save a .vpj file Open VP and start work on the new project Whenever you want a saved text, click the Green Menu button at the top left of the GUI window Slide down to File and then select Import Clips From Another Project. Select your TEXT CLIPS .vpj file and all the Text clips you made will be imported to the current project. Provided you never delete the TEXT CLIPS.vpj file, they will always be available for use. You can even load it and add more Texts and Save it again (Overwrite.) Nat
  10. Hi What sort of clip or image have you placed on the timeline? A chequered area usually indicates it is transparent. Sorry can't see your image; perhaps because it is a png?? (Don't know,) except nothing shows up Can you do a screen dump and post that as a jpg to imgur ?? Nat
  11. Hi VP 8.84 It would seem a simple matter to .... Position the cursor line to 14 seconds after the start of the 10 second gap. Select and group the clips on Video track 2 and then move them along to the cursor Do the same on Video Track 1 so the gap is now 14 seconds Place the text files one after the other in the 14 second gap now formed in Track 1 BUT for some reason you can select the clips on Track 2 and group them. (They, and their audio grey out which is normal) and then try to move them to the right. Unfortunately clips on Video Track 1 split and also move creating a gap there which to my mind is a bug as they have not been selected or grouped. It may be a bind but VP 8.45 as Borate suggests may be an answer as in this respect it seems to work although I haven't tried it yet. Nat
  12. Hi There is a slight difference between the first YT clip(top) and the second YT clip (bottom) but it's not huge... It does seem a matter of contrast. Try a slight sharpen effect as well. If you have a graphics package try applying an unsharp mask, that should tighten up the image a bit. Played this piece many times! Nat
  13. Hi Your video "No Highway in the sky" .mpg of 1.27 GB downloaded OK to my PC and played fine in VLC. ... ...and also WMP... However when I tried to load this to VP (version 8.84) the load bar stopped indexing the file around 1/3 of the way across although this was not related to the actual amount of clip processed....but oddly it also started creating an .avi file copy on the desktop next to the mpg. Never seen this before and no idea why it was doing this. It never processed the mpg beyond this but the avi (1 min 30 secs long) did play partially in VLC but was stretched horizontally... So no idea what is going on. Might be a codec problem. Like Borate suggests try converting the mpg to another format as see what happens. Nat
  14. Hi It might be that your image doesn't have enough resolution or is too small What size is it ? What does the staff look like in the export. Post an example raw image to drop box or Google drive. Make it public and post a link here and we can take a look. If you have screen copied some music to create your image or scanned it, it will need to be quite high definition. Saved as a jpg the stave lines and edges of notes can often look blurred (? anti-aliasing or compression artifact?) Animating these images means that the stave lines can become even worse. It is also possible that they look blurred as the resolution of the VP preview is too low and the final export might be better. You may have to experiment a bit to find the best combination.. As an example..This image of a VP project clip shows sections of a scanned manuscript added to a Video. The notes and stave are clear enough here although there is no animation. The strip of notes changing as the music is played. Make the manuscript as Hi Res as possible. Nat
  15. Hi Text files usually have a transparent background. Why not simply place them on a higher track in the required position. The main track will play behind them in the same way as subtitles do. Nat
  16. Hi Open VP Click the chevron at the right hand end of the toolbar... Select Options from the menu Select the Disc Tab Click Clear Unused cache Files. This will clear the cache completely. If you locate your actual cache file you can simply select all the files in it and delete them as you would any other folder. Nat
  17. Hi There isn't a Change Clip File option for blank clips but Image clips do have that option. I think you will have to do this manually...... If the project is fairly simple (single track) then jump the cursor line to the start of the blank clip and then Place the new clip at the cursor. Now delete the blank clip and close the gap. Transitions at each end of the clip will have to be redone. Nat
  18. Hi B OK it's the scroll bar. Yes is does jump back to the top. I suppose if one is adding clips to the timeline sequentially that might be annoying but why not simply add a block of clips all at the same time and delete them from the timeline if not required. The fact that the scroll bar jumps back to the top wouldn't matter then. My point is that the scroll bar has to be somewhere so why not back at the top if you delete something from the track? The next clip to be added may not be the next clip down the line. You may want the order to be 1, 15, 6,7, 11 etc. If they wern't close in the clip bin you would still need to scroll around. Moot point. Nat
  19. Hi Place your main background clip on Video Track 1 Place your PIP clip on Video Track 2 directly above the background clip. Confirm that when you preview the sequence you can only see your PIP clip playing as the background clip will be hidden Click the FX box for Video Track 2 (PIP clip) and add a Scale effect to reduce the size of the clip. Preview the sequence again. You should now see your PIP clip smaller than before and playing in the center of the background clip... Add a Position effect to the PIP to place it where you want it. If you don't see it playing when you preview the sequence then something is wrong. Nat
  20. Hi Version 8.84 That doesn't happen here. The order in the bin remains the same if a clip is added to the timeline and then removed. It just loses the green tick. The vertical order doesn't change. neither does it change if you replace the clip in a different part of the timeline. Nat
  21. Hi Special characters might help but phaffy and it depends on the font used. Probably the simplest way is to use two text boxes on different tracks one above the other; one for the actual text numbers and the other for the superscript.... Use a Position effect to move the superscript character (with a smaller font size) to a slightly higher position than the main text. Use a separate text image for each different superscript character you are going to use. Nat
  22. Hi I don't think this can be done. Reversing a clip with a Zoom In certainly makes the zoom play backwards but the EFFECT remains forwards in the effects editor for the reversed clip. So trying to save the effect as a reversed effect template doesn't work I've tried different things to try and get this to work but can't get the effect to save as a reversed template Nat
  23. Hi Bert Save Project As. This ensures you have a vpj file available to restore your project. Click the + sign at the left of the Track that follows Sequence 1 x.. This creates a sequence in the Sequence Clip Bin and at the same time clears the timeline. Open the Sequence clip bin and right click Sequence 1 Select Save Sequence Audio as New File. This adds an audio file to the audio bin and also a copy in the default save folder set up in Options. You can now use this audio file for what you want. Close VP and then restore your project by double clicking the vpj file. Nat
  24. Hi "....The grid I want to disable is in the effects animation editor. ..." Snapping to the grid both vertical and horizontal can be enabled/disabled by clicking the vertical/horizontal line icon at bottom right of the editor graph pane. Switching off the grid (removing it) is done by clicking the eye icon at bottom right of the editor graph pane. Nat
