  1. ok its fixed, whoever wants an updated version just email me
  2. it is not possible to increase the quality of an audio file, especially not to the magnitude you want. if you save the file with a higher bit rate that doesn't really do much, all it does is takes the existing low-quality 20kbit file and "maps" it out to a 320kbit file of the same quality. it cannot produce the required extra high quality information because it simply does not exist. you could probably imagine a higher quality version of the audio in your head, but a computer is nowhere near as smart as the human brain when it comes to something like this.
  3. thanks for the feedback (genuinely), we'll pass it on to our manager for comment. i myself am not in a position to do much unfortunately, but I'll do what I can.
  4. the only way is to try using SoundTap to record the file as its playing. Get SoundTap here: http://www.nch.com.au/soundtap/index.html and no there is no other *legal* way to do it, the only methods available for doing direct conversion of iTunes protected files are illegal and may attract the wrath of Apple.
  5. no. please also read the FAQ: http://www.nch.com.au/switch/faq.html#ABA
  6. yeah its confirmed as a bug, we'll take a further look at this one.
  7. we're doing a series of rolling releases to address bugs, in fact you have an old release we are up to 1.11 now. email me if you still have problems with version 1.11 of the software.
  8. theres an undocumented -addfolder feature in the command line tool that will load a specified folder. -addfolder [folder of files to add]
  9. its on the list, we are doing a series of 'rolling' or regular releases of switch every couple of weeks to address problems, so hopefully it won't be too long.
  10. believe it or not, a single piece of software to accurately address all those needs would end up being far too 'bloated' and complex and most people would end up not using it because it would ultimately lead to frustration. 1) this is a bug switch and we're working on it 2) wavepad will edit .wav files (http://www.nch.com.au/wavepad) 3) golden records will do that for you (http://www.nch.com.au/golden) 3) express burn is the answer here (http://www.nch.com.au/burn)
  11. we have a suggestions thread for this. latest version is 1.11, we are doing a series of 'quiet releases' at the moment, since its been a long time since the 1.05 release and we want to now make a series of releases every couple of weeks to address any existing problems. that is why there has been no official announcement of switch on our main page.
  12. yep, email me and you can work with me to find a resolution (i'll give you the latest build).
  13. if you want to know what are the plus features, it should be just the additional aac/m4a, flac and ogg 'save-to' format support.
  14. lame should have been distributed with Mac switch, we'll have to check that and get back to you.
  15. switch is my product, so yes I am concerned about this problem, I only just noticed it yesterday. Its a very odd one since we have not touched the rm format code at all since the last release. i'll keep you all posted when I find something, its likely that a fix would warrant a new release. p.s. you dont have to purchase support in order to submit bug reports, just go here instead: http://www.nch.com.au/software/bug.html . we cant respond to them directly, but we do look at bug reports weekly.
  16. as far as I'm aware it only does linear PCM and GSM. uLaw is non-linear PCM.
  17. email me and I'll send you the latest build to try out.
  18. hi, first of all nobody is demanding any money from you, if you dont want to pay for something that is your decision to make. next, we are working through another release of switch on mac, but there may not be a resolution within the next few weeks. finally, if you were to read the post at the top of these forums, the forums are for the community they are not regularly manned by NCH staff. problems with software are always going to happen (take a look at Microsoft), but we will continue to work on resolving them. If you don't feel like waiting then you are welcome to move on, that is your decision to make.
  19. what version of Switch are you using ? I don't think that specific error msg exists in the latest version. The latest version will now also tell you (in the main window) what codec is used by the wave file you have loaded. If you download it then you will have your answer straight away ! http://www.nch.com.au/switch
  20. well as you see it in Windows Explorer, the files are .cda files. But those aren't actually audio files, they are just "stubs" or "bookmarks" to the real audio which is hidden away on the CD. to play a CD in your car, use Express Burn to create a disc in "Audio CD" format. http://www.nch.com.au/burn
  21. hi, I'm unsure if we've updated switch within the last week or two, the problem lies with a bug in the mp3 ID tag reading but we've now fixed all the problems. to be sure, please contact me and I will give you the latest build of Switch that I have.
  22. perhaps you should ask Apple if their iPods support playing files created using the LAME mp3 encoder. we don't know this answer, we are not ipod experts. under no conditions should any software or hardware just "die" from doing something that trivial (i.e. playing an mp3 file), so Apple should be first line of contact here not us.
  23. use Express Burn to burn your files to CD in "Audio CD" format (look at the software and you will see what I mean). this type of CD will play in your CD player. http://www.nch.com.au/burn
  24. excellent answer there ! just to add to that, if I am to assume the 'temporary' files you refer to are the ones you see in the Golden Records main window, then those files are stored in the Golden Records Application Data folder (Documents and Settings\[windows user name]\Application Data\NCH Swift Sound\Golden), and they do *not* expire ever, they only get removed if you remove them. the *real* temporary files are the files that Golden Records saves to your Windows temp folder, that happens while recording is taking place. We do this because, irrespective of whether you want wav or mp3 files as the 'final product', we need to save the recordings in wave format first in order to apply any audio restoration tool processes on them (assuming you have selected any tools, you dont have to). these temporary files are removed whenever you exit the software.
  25. hmm, thats interesting, we havent changed rm file behaviour between the latest and the 1.05 version and yet you are correct, it doesn't work in the latest one. i can help you out with what you want if you send me an email edit: we are doing a series of "rolling" releases with switch, which is why we haven't done an official announcement on the latest release. we've done 2 rolling releases so far, and another one or two are planned over the next few weeks. most of the updates are just bug fixes, but we're soon including support for saving to wma which is what a lot of people are after.
