  1. what product did you use to copy the music to your hard drive? If it was media player, please note that media player copy protects your music by default, so you cannot edit or convert any of the music at all. Maybe use our Express Rip product instead to copy the music off the cd: www.nch.com.au/rip
  2. does real player play the entire file without problem? whats the file extension of your files? rax, or something else?
  3. do you get any sound through your computer at all? maybe the volume control in windows is not turned up enough to hear the sound? you can access the volume control through the system tray in the bottom right. are you running many programs at once that are all playing sounds? that sometimes can be a problem.
  4. no sorry, we don't as yet provide any 24-bit support.
  5. correct, its in your "My Documents" folder by default. You can change the output folder to whatever you like though, I'm sure you can see a field called "Output Folder" in the Switch main window.
  6. thats very odd, its almost as if the file never got installed on your computer. Go into your Program Files\NCH Swift Sound\Switch folder, and see if there is a file in the folder with a .hlp extension.
  7. this is covered in our file formats support page, which is linked to at the top of this forum - please read it!
  8. you haven't read our file format support page, which has been stickied to the top of this forum.
  9. avi is a video format, not an audio format. are you trying to make a dvd movie or something else?
  10. you might be in the wrong place, this is an audio forum not a video forum. Maybe go to videohelp.com.
  11. See the link in the thread title for information on some of the major audio formats going around. http://www.nch.com.au/acm/formats.html
  12. See the link in the thread title for clarification to problems loading particular file formats in Switch. http://www.nch.com.au/acm/support.html
  13. do you by chance know what codec you used to encode the .wav files with? We have received some reports of similar problems, but thus far cannot reproduce it. I myself have loaded audio files up to 4.5 hours length in wavepad with no problems (aside from it taking a while, but thats a CPU issue not a wavepad issue).
  14. Is it possible to send a flac file that doesn't work to me via email at [] ?
  15. yes, those songs should convert fine in Switch. My use of the word "iTunes" was perhaps too liberal, iTunes songs can refer to many different types of audio files. I was specifically pointing out that songs downloaded via iTunes from the Apple online store will be protected with digital rights management.
  16. Play the file in windows media player. If it doesn't play in there, the file is corrupted somehow.
  17. You do it in Windows Explorer. Tools menu -> Folder Options -> View tab -> Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types". Now you can see file extensions in Windows Explorer. When you go to rename a file, you can now also rename the file extension too.
  18. did you get those songs from the iTunes online music store, or somewhere else? Our impression was that all iTunes .aac files were copy-protected. But it's possible your .aac files are not protected.
  19. yes we should probably prohibit that, thanks for letting us know. Remember to back files up first if you're doing something to overwrite them or modify them.
  20. We're looking at fixing that up for the next release of Switch.
  21. So what's the question here? It would be rather pointless for the music companies to implement copy protection into the songs if any old program could convert them into other formats!
  22. that is a windows explorer thing - our software does not change how your files are ordered in windows explorer. The ordering of the mp3s should be no different to how the iTunes files were ordered (especially since Switch does not change filenames in any way). Are you sure you have set the sorting style properly for that folder? How you managed to convert iTunes to mp3 I do not know, since we established it couldn't be done...if you have some information on this I would be interested to hear it.
