A capture utility can be used to record the audio track display, as it plays. The result can be chromakeyed (green screened) and positioned over the video. The result looks like this. Long sequences may have to be broken up as the timeline will compress, which limits the horizontal audio display. At the position of the cursor (red line) any single or multiple tracks can be split with the SPLIT button. Note the >. It leads to sub-menus... Check the ones that you want. The red and blue [ ] brackets that pop on when the top of the cursor is clicked will trim the start and end of the project - all tracks.

It's unclear why it 'skips' but any single track can be split. Click the SPLIT button and make the choice...
