  1. If a clip has both audio and video, right-click on it and UNLINK VIDEO AND AUDIO. You can then select only the audio track for deletion Of simply deselect the audio track (at the far left), and it won't be heard. If you have a problem with the VP YouTube loader, try producing the project first, then use YouTube uploaded instead of Videopad.
  2. Something is afoul... ADD FILE DRAG|DROP onto track 1 EXPORT VIDEO button Clicking any one of the "Select Export type" choices brings up appropriate sub menu/s, which then lead to the CREATE menu. Clear CACHE and try a reinstall, Nat.
  3. Not seeing that here, Nat. When the EXPORT VIDEO button is clicked it brings up a menu with three choices. Clicking on FILE produces a menu with four choices and clicking on VIDEO FILE gives the usual "choose file settings" display with the CREATE button at the bottom. If the EXPORT item on the menu bar is instead chosen, there are no interim steps ... VP goes right to the final menu. Confirmed - audio track is blank. I also note that an overlay track (which was just above the opening video) displays as part of the video track, as if it has been composited into that track.
  4. The "titles" are text titles...and not subtitles?
  5. Before reverting, click on the menu bar - TOOLS|OPTIONS|DISK tab. Click "Clear unused cache files." Does this help? You may find your old version in C:\Program Files (x86)\NCH Software\Videopad. Delete the new version via Windows Programs and Features, then double-click on the .exe setup file.
  6. Does it freeze only in VP preview, or in the exported (produced) file as well? Check the site for the chip or card manufacturer of your video card (graphics adapter) for an updated driver. List your PC's stats here; it may not be up to the demands of video editing. Click START button|RUN and type in "DXDiag" (no quotes) <enter> or do the same from a command prompt. When it has completed its scan click SAVE ALL, to a convenient folder of your choice. Open the file with Notepad and COPY|PASTE the text contents here. NO personal info is revealed.
  7. Put the DVD into your PC's DVD drive, open the File Manager and copy the .VOB files from the DVD to a convenient folder on the hard drive. Import those files into VP and see what you get.
  8. After exporting use ADD FILE to bring the resultant file back into the VP video bin. Right-click on it and STABILIZE. When prompted, don't "replace." Use the stabilized file, which will be in both the VP video bin and in the PC's video (the default) folder.
  9. Most of what you're asking is better suited to an audio forum. But here are a few sites to help you sort it out... http://www.sonicsens...ssion-explained http://therecordingrevolution.com/2012/11/05/the-smart-way-to-use-reverb-in-your-mix/
  10. Keyframes can be created by dragging the blue line up or down, but the scope of control you desire may not be available in VP. Here's what is... Compressor A Dynamic Range Compressor limits the volume levels of a sound recording so that it stays within a certain loudness range. An example of where it is used is in TV broadcasting, where it ensures that the volume levels of ads are perceived as being louder than the television program itself (without any change in the actual broadcast volume). It also has a use for recording audio from one medium to another, where the two mediums are not capable of handling the same range of volume levels. e.g., A CD can handle a much greater range than a cassette tape. The "Threshold" setting works by detecting when the sound recording volume exceeds a defined decibel level. It then gradually attenuates the sound to bring it down below the dB level, and does it in such a way that the listener will not be aware the attenuation is occurring. The "Ratio" setting limits the amount the volume level of the recording increases at any one time. If, for example, you wanted the volume levels of a recording to only increase by at most 1/4 of the amount they would normally increase, then this would correspond to a Ratio of 4:1. So if the recording volume level increased by 8dB, then you would only hear a 2dB volume increase. The "Limit" setting defines at what maximum decibel level the sound recording will be allowed to rise up to. So if, for example, the Limit was set to 0dB, then you will never hear the volume level of the recording get louder than 0dB. The Limit setting has similarities to the Threshold setting, but the main difference is that the Threshold does allow sounds to go above the defined decibel level (for a short time), whereas the Limit does not. You will find that the minimum Limit volume you can set is the same as the maximum Threshold value. This basically means that, in any situation, the sound will start to attenuate at the threshold level, but will never be heard louder than the limit. Reverb Reverb is many small reflections of the sound that come after a set time. It usually occurs when someone is speaking in a room, hall etc. More reverb is called wet, no reverb is called dry. Use the menu Effects -> Reverb and enter the reverb level and time. The reverb level is the amplitude - 99 is very wet, 0 is dry. The time can be between 100 and 800ms - 200ms sounds like a small room or 800ms a large hall. If you add too much reverb it can sound like the person is in a pipe or in the bathroom. Presets Some audio effects have a list of presets. Select a preset to quickly set all the parameters of an effect to some commonly used values.
  11. When played on various Media Players, is the exported file out of sync? A Video pad test you can make, which may not be practical if you have multiple audio clips... Right-click each audio clip, then "save audio clip as new file." Save your project under a new name or incremented #, then replace the audio files with the new (WAV) files. Any difference on export?? The latest version is 4.05. State your PC's specs and someone may be able to access whether it is underpowered for resource intensive video editing, which could be the problem. The video driver might be implicated; check if a later version is available - from the chip or card manufacturer's WEBsite.
  12. Is there sound after producing (exporting) your video? If possible... In Videopad, click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO A FOLDER, zip then upload that folder to a file server, such as DROPBOX, Google DRIVE, ADrive, etc. Link the URL publicly here, so we can take a look. Try the latest version... http://www.nchsoftwa...ad/vppsetup.exe
  13. Is the track muted, which would cause the problem you state? Far-left side of the audio track timeline, the little speaker icon. Be sure it's not RED.
  14. Testing two identically sized images, I cannot duplicate your results here. Are you certain that they are the same size? You might overcome the problem by applying the SCALE video effect.
  15. In the clip on the timeline, mouse over the square at the top left. A pop-up prompts "fade in." Click the square and set a duration. Drag the overlay clip's right-hand border to the right until the clip is the desired length. To fade the overlay (or any clip, for that matter)... Apply a TRANSPARENCY effect with two keyframes (as shown below). The closer the distance between keyframes the faster the fade. For more on keyframes click the ? HELP menu. (It's best to start a new thread with a descriptive title when additional queries diverge from the original topic)
  16. Perhaps I'm misinterpreting your intent, but when I add a gif it remains a gif ... and plays on the timeline accordingly.
  17. You might try creating a png (transparent background) font, then key it into VP, or create text in a graphics program, then chromakey it in. Use a search engine, for "PNG fonts."
  18. There appears to be no provision for that in the most recent (4.05) version. Perhaps the developers will see your request and add the feature in a future incarnation. Try a different font.
  19. In your timeline, what appears at that 1:56 juncture: an effect, a transition? Eliminate it, as a test, and see if the export completes.
  20. It's not mandatory to use FADE IN/OUT for audio. Select a clip, then click the AUDIO EFFECTS button in the toolbar. Drag the horizontal blue line up/down to create keyframes that fade audio in/out at any time. For video, transparency keyframes can be similarly timed to your liking. This, together with the overlap positioning of the clips, may achieve the desired result.
  21. Good plan by Nat. For the video fade, try adding the transparency to only the overlay track. To crossfade from main track to overlay... At clip start set a transparency ZERO keyframe, then add a keyframe a bit later that has transparency at 100%. To crossfade from overlay to main (lower) track... Near clip end set a keyframe for transparency 100, then at clip end add a transparency ZERO keyframe. You can apply these procedures to a single overlay clip. To add keyframes manually, click the green + sign.
  22. Tracks can be moved up/down. Right-click in the track name area for those choices.

It might be best to simply upload to a file share server and pass along the link to others. Dropbox, Google Drive, One Drive, etc. http://www.howtogeek.com/196435/how-to-share-files-and-folders-from-your-cloud-storage-folder/ To get file size down to a reasonable level for mailing (dependent upon the size of the edit) try EXPORT|RESOLUTIONS|"low resolution" for AVI or WMV. Most users should be able to view the result.
