  1. Your PC may be "modern" but still not up to video editing, which is resource intensive. 2G RAM probably isn't going to hack it. Here are minimum specs for a somewhat more complex editing program, but the suggestions would also be good for VP in my opinion... Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, Professional (32 bit with Service Pack 3) Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Ultimate (32 bit and 64 bit) Microsoft Windows 7 Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional, Ultimate (32 bit and 64 bit) Microsoft Windows 8 (32 bit and 64 bit) Screen Resolution 1024 x 768, 16-bit color or above. CPU Processor AVI Capture/Produce: Profiles: Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz or AMD Athlon 64 X2. DVD Quality (MPEG-2) Profiles: Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz or AMD Athlon 64 X2. High Quality MPEG-4 and Streaming WMV, QuickTime) Profiles: Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz or AMD Athlon 64 X2. Full-HD quality H.264 and MPEG2 Profiles: Intel Corei5/7 or AMD Phenom II X4. AVCHD* and BD* burning Profiles: Pentium Core 2 Duo E6400, or AMD Phenom II X2. 2K/4K/3D* video editing profile: Intel Corei7 or AMD Phenom II X4 with 64 bit OS 6 GB RAM. Graphics Card 128 MB VGA VRAM or higher (1 GB or higher VRAM and OpenCL capable are recommended). Memory 512 MB required. 3 GB DDR2 or above recommended for 32 bit OS. 6 GB DDR2 or above recommended for 64 bit OS. Hard Disk Space 5 GB minimum required 10 GB (20 GB recommended) for DVD production. 60 GB (100 GB recommended) for Blu-ray Disc/AVCHD production*. Burning Drive A CD or DVD burner (CD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW or DVD-R/RW) is required to burn VCD/DVD/SVCD/AVCHD* titles. A Blu-ray Disc recordable drive is required to burn Blu-ray Discs*.
  2. Did you contract the time line, by dragging it, to see the track in its entirety? Perhaps there is an unwanted clip fragment that hasn't been deleted.
  3. Before you jump ship, two routes to explore... 1. See if ANY of the export video formats are enabled - perhaps WMV, ASF, AVI. 2. Install an older 3.x version... Because you have already put in so much time on your project, here is a link to 3.04, available for a limited time. http://hevanet.com/h...psetup_3.04.exe FILE|SAVE your project, if possible. Download and install 3.04. See if the project will load. Test export options. If one succeeds, burn the result to a DVD. Hopefully, NCH marketing will consider reverting to the earlier trial functionality or, at least state what the non-registered versions won't do - to save folks wasted effort.
  4. You could create two TEXT clips, one containing normal text words that leave spaces for the italicized words in the other clip. Stack them above each other on tracks that are higher than the main video. In the CLIP preview window, click and drag the text in one of the clips to line up with the other.
  5. EXPORT, on the menu bar, is the path to various production and burning options. If none is available in the version you are using I wouldn't be surprised; recently the VP "free" version has been a crippled trial, but that hasn't been tested here lately. Click on the "download the free version here" link at http://www.nchsoftware.com/videopad/ IF the link is available. Sometimes I see it, other times not. It leads to VPsetup.exe. The usual download links point to VPPsetup.exe. It would be very helpful if the company delineated the differences and limitations of the non-registered versions - be they free or trial. It's confusing. The easy answer: purchase the product.
  6. Assuming you want to insert a picture into a picture (PIP)... Drag the insert clip to the track above the main clip. Each higher track overlays the track below it, so your insert video will override the main clip video. Click the insert clip, then on VIDEO EFFECTS in the menu bar. Or click the small, yellow star at the left-bottom corner of the clip. Click the top-left ADD EFFECTS button and chose the SCALE or CROP effect. Click and drag the dotted boxes in the preview window or move the sliders at the left to make the image smaller. The main image will be in the background. When satisfied click APPLY. The MOTION effect can use KEYFRAMES to plot a trajectory. Click KEYFRAMES in the menu bar to enable it. Keyframes can be applied to many effects. Read the ? HELP files and experiment. Latest versions of VP are available at http://www.nchsoftware.com/videopad/
  7. Indeed. Upon closer inspection both MPG(2) and Mp4 EXPORTS display this behavior In the latest version, despite the fact that no fades are programmed on the timeline. To get around this you might add a blank clip the the end of the timeline.
  8. Add a blank image (whose color you can set) in the track below the insert picture, then CROP that image... To begin, click the ADD BLANK icon on the menu bar. Click the yellow star at the bottom left of the border's thumbnail, in the timeline. Click ADD EFFECT, Choose CROP. In the preview window, drag the image edges to form a border. Set the tracks up this way: 1 - main video, 2 - border, 3 - insert picture Adjust length as necessary by dragging the trailing edge of the border clip on the timeline.
  9. See this thread for tips on making multiple clips out of a single clip... http://nch.invisionzone.com/index.php?/topic/21653-newbie-multiple-selections-from-one-clip/#entry49533
  10. It's best to start a NEW TOPIC, with a descriptive subject. What EXPORT format is being used? Have you tried others?
  11. If it does not work as described in the image, then it's possible that it's a system specific issue. A video driver update sometimes helps solve odd problems. If there's nothing on the timeline, the text clip will be inserted at the head of video track 1. If there IS something on the timeline, you should be prompted - if you have not chosen a default action in options settings.
  12. Click the clip (top-left) once again. That will restore the green arrow. Then mark your next IN and OUT points. If you get a message to the effect that the IN point can't be before the OUT point, slide the blue arrow on the timeline to the right of the scrubber (the red line). Another way to accomplish this is to place the entire clip on the timeline, split the sections that you want and then DELETE|RIPPLE those that you don't. Experiment.
  13. RGone's fifth image shows text being added in the PROPERTIES|NOTES box. That's for notes that show up only when properties are viewed. It's not for text. Follow the essentially similar instructions of other posts here and type the text in the #2 box shown in Martyson's image. If you want to see it full screen, double-click the text clip or click the star in the left-bottom corner of the clip on the timeline, add effects if desired, SAVE (give it a name) and APPLY. On line video tutorials may not reflect the many changes made to VP since release of 3.0. On line NCH HELP files should. Click the ? question mark at the top-right of the VP window.
  14. UPload and attachments to this forum appear to be disabled. To create an attachment in your production, click the ADD ATTACHMENT icon. Compose text in the small white box. (The checkerboard in the clip window will be where the background layer/s show through.) Click the large "A" to modify text attributes, such as font, size, color, etc. When satisfied, click APPLY. The text clip appears in the IMAGES bin at the top-left and on the overlay track - a higher numbered track above the background images or video. If you need to modify it, simply click the top-left text clip and make changes. They will be reflected on the timeline. http://hevanet.com/hb/4.jpg
  15. Please start a new topic, with a descriptive subject. What steps do you take and what, precisely, do you see when the project is produced? Do different input or output file formats make a difference? Any error messages?

    VP ver 374

But it can know time elapsed from when a program is installed, and make changes in that program.

    VP ver 374

Think I spotted the same here, which hints either that NCH has some interaction with the user's software...or that a "timer" drops the BETA designation. Dunno.

    VP ver 374

It's likely that purchased software, retail or download, isn't BETA. Most, if not all, of the "trial" downloads, are. My opinion is that there's scant difference. Retain your original purchase, but experiment with the latest.
  21. Clicking, holding and dragging does indeed open a gap, yet I've encountered instances where it doesn't, and it's not immediately apparent why that is. Your method of insertion, with a snap, is the way to go.
  22. On the time line, click the later of the two clips, hold down the mouse button and drag slightly to the right, which will move it and all clips that follow on that sequence line. Insert your new clip at the end of the earlier clip. Right-click the open area and CLOSE GAP.
  23. No, entering the key shouldn't be needed - at least until the three-month "free upgrade" period allegedly expires. Then, according to the FAQ, payment for a new key will be required in order to update further. I have seen this scenario play out with other NCH products.
  24. It appears so - you have a 3.73 licensed version. One day, it may not accept your key. But not today. Glad it worked out for you.
