Tic the PREVIEW box, then drag the scrubber (red line) to view the effect.

In sequence one, ignore the scrubber (red bar). Highlight the clip or section by left-clicking it on the timeline. Then press <ctrl-C>. Or right-click|COPY. You can select multiple clips by holding down the <ctrl> key while clicking. Switch to sequence two. Position the bar where you want to paste the material and press <ctrl-V>. Or right-click|PASTE (insert). Doing this with subsequent clips with add them to the end of existing clips in sequence 2, without the need to move the scrubber.

Here's a relatively simple approach... Create a new blank sequence by clicking the + sign to the right of the sequence 1 tab that's above the timeline. Click the sequence 1 tab to restore it to the timeline. Either select (highlight) all the clips to be used for the shorter video or split out the segments to be used and select each, one-by-one. Press <ctrl-C> to copy them. Click the sequence 2 tab. Press <ctrl-V> to paste. You can then work with sequence 2 to refine the abridged version. When complete, and while it is on the timeline, export it. ONLY the displayed sequence will be exported.

It's being looked into by the developers. Expect eventual improvements; no time line.

1. Mute only the clip, not the track. Click on the little speaker icon to the right of the FX button in the audio clip, then check the MUTE box. 2. Leave the precise desired replacement segment on track 2, immediately below the muted identical phrase on track 1. 3. Both tracks will be exported. Track one will be heard except for the muted portion that you split out. Track 2 will be heard at that time - replacing the original.

Tested successfully in the latest VP version. Please confirm that you are following the procedure described here.

In what manner did you import these files?

You can install right over the top of the existing version. Usually there' no need to uninstall. That said, in Windows open Control Panel|Programs and Features to uninstall. Upgrades are not forced, but prompts may request a purchase. Your "original" install file should have been stored in this path: "C:\Program Files (x86)\NCH Software\VideoPad" Simply double-click on it to reinstall. Be aware that some features will be disabled in the unlicensed copy after the trial ends. The tech issues you mention have not been seen here. Please be more specific on the steps you are attempting when the freeze occurs and what VP version is being used.

If, for example, he recorded a word, or even an entire sentence whose timing matches the original it could be dropped, in sync, on audio track #2. That portion of audio track #1 could be split out and muted. Click the button on the clip that's to the right of the FX button. Audio quality of the original vs. the fix will likely be different but at least the name will be correct.

Generally, best quality will be obtained by matching input to output resolution. VP's "auto-match" will make the choice based on source files, but you can override that easily during export. In the export window there's a FILESIZE blue link to the right of the File Format field. Experiment with that for best quality vs. file size.

Checked out VP 4.05, which had the export prompt pictured below. Perhaps that is what's missing, and the developers are looking into it. In version 7.02 the same result appears to be achieved by right-clicking the file in the BIN (top-left) and clicking CROP. Tested 9:16 and it looked about the same as CROP in VP 4.05, though that isn't the precise aspect that you specified. Give it a try.

No need to relink. Just export as is and it should be fine.

Right-click the audio track and UNLINK FROM VIDEO. Then you should be able to split out and delete the extraneous audio.

You have added to a two-year old thread - best to start a new one. This method has been successful when exports failed in prior Videopad versions. More recent incarnations have corrected the problem. Try the latest. If export still hangs, post back here.

Vaguely recall that there was a check box in earlier VP versions to accomplish your mission?? Would be a welcomed feature. 1. Place your image on the timeline and click the FX button. 2. Click the MASK button - second from the left on the effects toolbar. 3. In the preview window, draw the mask to the dimensions desired and UNtick the MASK INSIDE box. 4. Click the green + at the top left of the effects toolbar and choose the transparency effect. 5. Run the slider to zero. (Repeat this if you've altered the mask and a checkerboard isn't appearing in the masked areas.) Export it as "auto match" resolution.

SAVE PROJECT FILE, SAVE PROJECT FILE AS and SAVE AS PORTABLE PROJECT are not exports. They are used to restore a project to VP. Mp4 is popular for export. 3. There is a monthly subscription plan availale but normally a VP purchase is for life, with free upgrades for six months. Look here. 4. Features vary, but display should be basically the same for these PC-based viewers. 6. In the first clip on the timeline there should be an f button to fade in.. To fade out, use the X (transition) button in the clip and select FADE, or any of the many transitions. If the f isn't visible, expand the timeline horizontally using the slider near the bottom-right of the window. Drag the scrollbar at the bottom to view different timeline areas.

Audacity and Wavepad have similar capabilities. WP can be launched from within Videopad, but it's a separate program. A right-click on the file in VP's bin (under the audio tab) gives the option to SAVE AS NEW WAV FILE, which is written to the PC's music folder. Once processed, the file can be imported back into Videopad. When exported from VP, audio and video are then linked. Videopad itself has audio tools, though they are not as extensive as those in Wavepad.

1. That's wise. 2. No, as the equalization was done with Wavepad. 3. Can do, by splitting precise clips, lining up a mask and adjusting parameters. Only you can decide if that would enhance the presentation enough to be worth the effort. In any case, save your project with FILE|SAVE AS and give it incremental numbers so as to not overwrite earlier versions. Don't use FILE|SAVE.

If you choose to slow your file down, apply the speed effect, which will affect audio and video. As for the questioners, it may be best to leave their volume as is, but questions can be split into new clips and the amplify effect applied to those clips.

That's the purpose of this forum - users sharing. After export, the audio and video won't be linked in the sense that your original clip had audio married to video, but they will be just as they were when viewed on the timeline. Assuming that there is but one clip in the sequence, slow it by right-clicking it on the timeline. Then CHANGE CLIP SPEED. Tested a decrease of 15% here and it worked fine.

Correct. Unlink the original audio and mute or delete it. Drop the new audio onto an audio track. If the sync isn't quite right, drag the video or audio track to the right to line it up.
