  1. Save your project. Save the installer file provided at purchase. That version never expires. Some general tips... Clear Unused Cache Files, under OPTIONS|DISK tab and try another export. During export close all other programs If an overlay clip is opaque, make sure nothing behind it. Adjust In/Out point accordingly to remove invisible part of the clips. Check for redundant effects. Remove them if you can. Use less tracks if possible. Be sure there's amply free space on the C:\ drive The export time is heavily depends on the complexity of the project more than the output video length. For example, if you added a new video clip overlaying existing clips, VP will need to take the time to decode it when exporting. Decoding and encoding are the main bottleneck. Adding effects on a video clip will also slow down exporting. You can also try the current version... If it has been less than six months since purchase upgrade for free. If more time has elapsed you can still upgrade, but there is a fee to license/register. Should these measures make no difference, please upload your project, or half of the project, where audio is muted. Someone will check it out. Here's how... http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/23659-tips-for-getting-help-on-this-forum/ Be sure to share it publicly and post the link here.
  2. Tested a static 183x171 gif in v7.11, scaled down 50% in VP and exported at the source resolution. Export did appear to be more pixelated than the output of v7.04, which you can download here for comparison. However, when it and a few animated gifs were exported at 1920x1022 (60) in v7.11 they looked okay. Word has it that some SCALE issues should be resolved in the next release. Perhaps this will affect your results??
  3. Change the export resolution setting, perhaps to 1920x1080. Experiment with others. Use the latest VP version, keeping in mind that a purchased/registered version is good for free upgrades for a six-month period. After that there is a fee, though the purchased copy does not expire. Retain the installer file.
  4. Bear in mind though that the example above resized the 2560x1920 4:3 image using the SCALE preset 4:3 to 16:9 . The result appears to be the same as applying the zoom 16:9 restraint. The letterbox option was enabled only when the export resolution did not match the source. In this instance "auto-match" suggested exporting at the source res. When that was changed to 1920x1080 then letterbox became active. This tested true irrespective of the A/R of the effected image.
  5. What VP version? Share a file that does this and someone will have a look. Upload to a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive. Make the file public (share it) and post the link the file here.
  6. Best to start a new thread. Be since we're here... Does export fail at different points ... or are there clips missing from the completed export? Install the latest version. If you paid to register your current copy save the installer. That version never expires. And upgrades are free for six-months after purchase. After that, what you download will be a trial that eventually may have some limitations. Bracketing clips to select segments, then dropping them onto the timeline has no bearing on export. It should output the entire sequence. If export completes, but clips are missing, see if the my August 5th, 2018 tip above is your answer. If not, please upload your project. Someone will check it out. Here's how... http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/23659-tips-for-getting-help-on-this-forum/ Don't forget to make the link public (share it), then paste it here.
  7. Best to start a new thread, but since we're here... Each higher video track overlays the lower tracks. In the example below track one is the background image, track two is text, track three is the yellow .png button, track four is a high-contrast logo created by first keying out (green screen) the background, which was blue, leaving only the white clouds. Add any number of layers, as long as their backgrounds are transparent. From the HELP files... How To Watermark Image or Picture-in-Picture Video Blue or Green Screen Chroma Keying Create Scrolling Credits or News Ticker
  8. Baffling. Nat plays the mp4 version fine; here it's a mess, while the MTS incarnation fails on your PCs but succeeds here. Hardware issues? "Letterbox" is not active on MTS export. What are the specs of your son's PC?
  9. One approach (and likely there are better ways which others may share)... Assemble the overlays only - no background - in the preview window, scaled and positioned as desired. In the example below track one is the background image, track two is text, track three is the yellow .png button, track four is a high-contrast logo created by first keying out (green screen) the background, which was blue, leaving only the white clouds. Right-click in the preview window and TAKE SNAPSHOT OF SEQUENCE. It will appear in the bin area (top-left). Clear the timeline, or open a new sequence by clicking the + sign on the sequence 1 tab above the timeline. Place the snapshot on the timeline. Apply the green-screen effect and use the eyedropper to key out the black background. Right-click in preview and TAKE SNAPSHOT OF SEQUENCE. Use that new clip to overlay future projects.
  10. Which project? The 2nd, built from mp4 files. Or the 2nd, built from MTS? If the former, the converted mp4s may be corrupt.
  11. Give them a few more days, then delete. Please do report results on your son's PC, which is likely Intel based. Use VP v7.11. Another setting you might experiment with is HARDWARE ACCELERATION. It's under OPTIONS|EDITING tab.
  12. Took a second look at your mp4 project. Poor preview: freezes, black frame at end of goalie slow-mo, jumpy transitions. Export would likely be the same. The MTS-constructed preview and export here were fine, as you saw. The only very subtle error seen was the occasional extra field/frame at the start of a transition. Video editing is resource intensive, so it is conceivable that PC specs could affect the outcome, especially when dealing with large, high-res files. Some VP users have speculated that AMD processors may lag their Intel counterparts, but that has not been substantiated AFAIK.
  13. Share your project so others can see what you report. Here's how... http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/23659-tips-for-getting-help-on-this-forum/ In a test here... Loaded a 2560x1920 image into VP v7.11 Scaled it up, using preset 4:3-->16:9 (1.34 horizontal and vertical) Exported at 1920x1080 at default avi settings. "Letterbox" is enabled because the output (1920) does not match the source (2560) resolution. The (scaled) VP sequence screen is at the right, below. The avi export was played full screen in MPC-HC. The image at the left is a still capture of the avi, reduced in size (for comparison here) to match the VP screen. Both show virtually identical content.
  14. This mp4 project was unacceptable, as you reported, though the files looked fine in a viewer. Our experiences hint that various converters/programs don't always play nicely with those MTS files, for reasons not apparent here. You might check camera documentation/FAQs and the like to see if more welcoming format alternatives options exist. In the 25fps final linked earlier there was no issue with the slo-mo goalie shot.
  15. Used the original MTS files this time. A lengthy load, but previewed fine after fully caching. MTS--->mp4 conversions on the earlier project were managed simply as an export in Videopad, one file at a time.
  16. Just a guess, but it appears that the source files are the problem. Upload the original four MTS files please. In what manner did you convert those files? (When you reply here, it's not necessary to include all quoted material.)
  17. Check OPTIONS|DISK tab. It the path similar to this? C:\Users\accountname\AppData\Local\Temp\ Be sure that it is referencing the C:\ drive. It's unclear why VP won't accept content past 3:30, as you have succeeded with much longer projects in the past. You state "no room." Is there an error message? A workaround... Load the project as far as you can get (3:30). Export it as an mp4, confirming that the resolution is what you want. "Auto-match" is only a suggestion, based on source files,. Close the program, restart it, and Clear Unused Cache Files. Import the file that you just exported and place it at the head of the timeline. It's just a clip now, so original source files won't be discrete. Import new files and add/edit them in the usual fashion. When satisfied, export the entire film. Does it still balk?
  18. As noted, the new files were swapped in for the old but their names were different. At load VP thought they were missing and prompted to resolve. The new files could have been found anywhere. If the project is saved anew, that's where VP will find them in the future. It's wise to store all in the same folder.
  19. Glad it worked out. The developers are aware of it. Give them a few days to fetch the original from the server, should they need to do so. The MTS files were replaced by the mp4s which, in this case, had a slightly different name. Thus, when the project was loaded, VP couldn't resolve those files and prompted for manual intervention. After pointing it to the new files, and deleting those not used in the production (leaving three videos), FILE|SAVE PROJECT updated the vpj control file.
  20. Confusing and frustrating, we know, but hang in there.😣 Video editing is resource intensive: an under-powered PC + large files = tedium at the least and failure at most. VP version 7.11, the latest at this writing, is here. Getting down to basics, what are the PC's specs? What format are the source files, how large (loosely), and at what resolution? How much free space do you have on the cache drive? The path to that drive is listed under OPTIONS|DISK tab|Cache Folder. Considerable free space is required. To clarify terminology... exporting is when a file is created from the content on the timeline. Often, this would be an mp4 at the suggested defaults, but there are numerous formats and encodings available. Exported files usually go to the DOWNLOADS folder. But you can specify the path under Videopad's OPTIONS|EXPORT tab. Look there for your exports. Uploading, a separate operation, is when the exported result is sent to a server (the cloud). While VP has the provision to upload directly to various servers, such as DropBox and YouTube, it's not necessary to use that feature. Sometimes it is better to simply go to the server site and use their uploader instead. It will request a file location. Find your exported file and double-click on it. To share a project so that others can analyze and troubleshoot it, follow these steps... 1. Load the project onto the timeline. Don't export it. 2. Click FILE|SAVE AS PORTABLE PROJECT. That will save all the project files + the vpj control file to a folder that can be copied to a USB (for use on another PC) or uploaded. When the SAVE box comes up, specify where you want it saved. Again DOWNLOADS is a good choice. The result will look something like this: 2019-05-09 15-13-50. 3. Upload that folder to DropBox or the like, share it, and post the shared link here. You can zip the folder if it contains many files. In Windows 10 right-click the newly saved folder, click SEND TO|COMPRESSED (zipped) FOLDER. The result yellow folder will have a .zip extension. Upload the zip. If your uploader asks whether it's a file or folder, try the FILE choice. Exporting is not required. We don't want to see the completed (exported) production, just the project files as you see them on the timeline. Be aware that SAVE PROJECT updates the vpj control file with the timeline's content - to restore the project at a later date. It's always wise to use SAVE PROJECT AS instead, giving the file a unique # or name, to prevent overwriting of an prior vpj file. This is not the same as saving as a portable project. Hope this helps sort things out. An UNinstall of VP via Windows Control Panel|Programs and Features, and install of the latest version may be a good first step.
  21. VP is choking on the MTS files, which appear to have mixed frame rates - if that has a bearing on the issue. After converting those to mp4 all is rosy. Please leave your original project on the server for a few days. The developers may want to check it out.
  22. Certainly should be there. It might be on track one, by itself, or on track two, where it would be superimposed over the track one background. Be sure that the font color isn't the same as a background. Confirm that the scrubber (red line) is within the clip on the timeline.

With your project on the timeline, audio clips can be deleted from the audio track. If a clip is linked to video, first right-click on it and UNlink. If you want to mix the existing audio with a voice track, add narration and place that new track below the existing. Then lower the audio volume of the other track. Click the track's FX icon, then the green + sign, then AMPLIFY. Move the slider to the left. Points at which audio gain goes up or down can be plotted. Animation editor HELP. After completing the changes, upload to YouTube either directly from VP or by making a VIDEO file compatible with YT standards and using their uploader. The HELP file for YT seems to be working. Here's how it reads... You can open the YouTube export dialog via one of the following methods: From the Home Toolbar. Click the Export Video drop down button. Select the YouTube... option. From the Export Toolbar. Select the YouTube button. From the Export tab on the Main Menu. Select the YouTube... option. Once reaching the YouTube export dialog, you can choose assorted settings that will be applied to the exported project. After making your selections click on Create, to being the export and upload process. If required the YouTube Authorization dialog will appear. Login to your YouTube Account, and follow the prompts to allow the application to access your online profile.
  24. 6.03 appears to be the latest release. You should have your original installer file, which can be used to reinstall. If not, here's the zipped installer... https://www.nchsoftware.com/videopad/vpmaci.zip.
  25. So, it sounds as if you are attempting a direct upload to DropBox or YouTube from VP. Instead, export the project as a VIDEO file, mp4. Then use the DropBox or YouTube uploaders, in lieu of VP. Does that succeed? Try uploading the exported mp4 to MS OneDrive or Google Drive. Again, if you share the project, someone will check it out. http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/23659-tips-for-getting-help-on-this-forum/
