  1. Hi all, The latest edition of Crescendo includes the ability to have multiple voices for each staff. This feature is currently only accessible via the menu bar, but is being added to the right click menu for the next release. To access the menu bar you need to make sure the menu bar is showing by clicking on the small arrow at the top right hand side of the window. Regards Ben
  2. Hi lindermc, Unfortunately Crescendo does not yet support this feature. It is on our list of todo items and will be available very soon. Regards, Ben
  3. Ok, so the only thing I can think of which may cause this effect is if audio was being played at a certain sample rate, but you were recording it at a different sample rate. SoundTap should handle the matching of sample rates for you, but for some reason in your case it seems like it isn't. Things to check: 1. Have you changed any of the advanced settings of your audio card to use a different sample rate? If so, try setting them back to default. 2. Open SoundTap's settings dialog and try recording to a different format. eg. If you are recording to mp3, try recording to .wav. 3. Reboot your computer and make sure that you start SoundTap *before* you open your web browser. Let me know if any of this helps. If not, we'll try and troubleshoot things a bit further. Regards, Ben
  4. Hi Sound_Tapper, Unfortunately SoundTap is unable to intercept the audio when using an HDMI output. Regards, Ben
  5. Hi hendu3270, Ok I haven't come across this issue before. Could you tell me what source you are recording from? And also, are you using the Mac or Windows version? Regards, Ben
  6. Hi George, That sounds like an interesting project! Unfortunately, Crescendo does not currently have the ability to remove the time signature completely. But given that you have expressed a need for it, then we will consider adding the feature to a future release. Regards, Ben
  7. What format song have you downloaded? Can you play the file in other media players like Windows Media Player or WinAMP? Regards, Ben
  8. Glad to hear you got it solved. Thanks for updating the thread so others can learn too! Regards, Ben
  9. Hi FunWithTyranny, Ok, the first step is to get the audio you want to use from the first video. To do this: 1. Click the "Load Clip" button on the Home tab 2. In the dialog which opens navigate to the location of the video file. You may need to change your file filter (bottom right corner of the dialog) to include video files 3. Click Open --> This should open the "Video Sync Window" and MixPad will now extract the audio from the video and load it into the MixPad project window. The next step is to add this audio to the second video. To do this: 1. File->Export Project to Video as Audio Track 2. This will re-open (if it's not already open) the "Video Sync Window". In this window, click on the "Choose Video File..." button. 3. Navigate to the video you want to overdub and click "Open" 4. Note that this will import the audio from this video into your project as well. This is so you can easily overlay some audio over the top of the existing audio. However, since you want to completely replace the audio you will need to delete this clip from the project after it is imported. 5. In the "Video Sync Window" click on "Choose Export File..." 6. Choose the location and output format of the video you would like to create 7. Click on "Export" --> Your new video file may take some time to be encoded, but you should basically be done now. If you have any troubles with this process then let me know. Regards, Ben
  10. Hi Twync, I've replied to your PM with some instructions on clearing WavePad's cache. Let me know how that goes. Regards, Ben
  11. Hi Toronaga, It could be that something funny happened to your sound system and the computer needed a restart. Anyway, I'm glad that the problem seems to have gone away. If it recurs then please let me know. Regards, Ben
  12. Hi Dudu, Maybe you are experiencing a different issue. Could you give us a few more details on exactly what you are doing when Switch crashes? Also, can you just confirm that you have the latest version of Switch (4.94)? Regards, Ben

Hi BCOOL, Looks like there's a bug here. I'll have someone take care of it for the next release. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for taking the time to point it out. Regards, Ben
  14. Hi Twync, That's a very strange problem. Let's see if we can get to the bottom of what is happening... 1. If you open the mp3 files in Windows Media Player (or similar) do they show the correct length and play properly? 2. How much space do you have available on your computer's hard drive? 3. Could you please provide a link to one of your mp3 files which has this problem so that I can see if something is wrong with the file? You can either post it on a cloud service like Dropbox or PM me and I will give you details on how to email me. Regards, Ben
  15. Hi Toronaga, Ok, that's a strange problem. I can only think of a couple of things which may cause something like this. The first thing to check is that the volume control on WMP is not too low. The second possibility is to do with multiple sound cards. If you have more than one card have you made sure that the sound in WMP is being directed to the correct one? Have you checked that WMP can play other audio files correctly? (ie. Files not created with Golden Records). When you try and play these files with WMP, what length does WMP display them as having? Regards, Ben
  16. Hi Aura, Can you give me more details on this apple add-on? Any extra details would help. A screenshot would be great! Regards, Ben
  17. Hi bnwflix, As Isaias said, the reason that SoundTap records correctly is that this process never leaves the digital domain. The digital samples are directly intercepted by SoundTap so you end up with a perfect copy. In the case you are describing when you record from your receiver, there is a digital -> analog conversion as the signal leaves your amp, followed by an analog -> digital conversion as the signal enters your computer's soundcard. The result and quality of these conversions will depend significantly on your hardware and can be influenced by a number of things. Most importantly it will be affected by the impedance on your inputs and outputs. The effect you are describing could be due to a high impedance on your soundcard input causing weaker (lower volume) signals to be attenuated in a non-linear way which would explain the faster than expected fades you are hearing. Regards, Ben
  18. Hi Wenona, Ok, I see now that you are using a self-contained portable multi-track recorder. As vapors suggests, I would carefully read the manual - especially any parts which talk about setting the correct recording level. Also, I notice from the homepage of this device that it has an auto-levelling feature. Sometimes these features can be heavy handed and the shift in levels is too noticeable and distracting, but I would test it out nonetheless. Since you are new to the device, before using it in any serious capacity I would spend plenty of time doing practice recordings and importing them to your computer until you get the hang of it. Good luck with your projects! Regards, Ben
  19. Hi, Sorry you're finding WavePad difficult to use. If you can describe the problem you are having then someone on here should be able to help you sort it out. Regards, Ben

Hi KDIV, As I said in my post above, we *do* have plans to add the ability to share voices in the very near future. Regards, Ben
  21. Hi kingdommandate, There are several points along the audio input chain where you can adjust the gain/volume of your recording. If the recording is too loud at any of these points then this will result in a distorted recording. Once a recording is distorted it is not really possible to fix it. (If there is only a tiny bit of distortion you may be able to improve it, but it doesn't sound like this applies in your case). It sounds like your setup is reasonably simple, so the first point I would be looking at in your input chain is the input level on your Tascam device (if you give me the model number I can look it up and give you more specific advice). Basically you want to set the input level so that the loudest noise you are planning to record will not distort. Distortion occurs when the volume of the audio you are recording exceeds the maximum input range of your device. Your device probably has something like a little red peak light which will light up if the recording is too loud. The occasional flicker is ok, but you don't want this light to come on regularly. I would recommend reading the manual carefully as it should give you advice on how to setup a recording for that particular device. Regards, Ben

    merged files

Hi David, I'm not 100% sure I follow what has happened. Could you answer a few questions to help clarify? When you say you changed the name of a file, did you change the name through the file system or rename it through WavePad? What kind of file was it? What are the other 4 files? Are they also audio files? (eg. wav, mp3, m4a) I don't quite know what you mean when you say that the other 4 files were added to the first one. Could you describe more about what happened? Regards, Ben
  23. Hi Andy_F, The problem you are describing is consistent with issues you get when the computer's CPU is struggling to keep up with the processing demands of the program. Could you describe a little bit about your recording setup? What soundcard are you using? Are you using ASIO drivers? If you are using ASIO, have you tried increasing the hardware buffer size? How many tracks does your project have? Does this problem occur if you only have a one or two track project playing? Do you have any effects applied to any of the tracks? I guess I'm looking for any heavy processing requirements your project might have. Regards, Ben

Hi KDIV, The only voices available currently are the ones installed with Voxal. We do have plans to allow people to create and share voices in the near future. Regards, Ben
  25. Hi KDIV, You have probably overridden the default location of WavePad's working directory. If you open the Options dialog and click on the "Audio" tab, you should see 2 choices. Either use the default location, or specify the file path you'd like. The recommended option here is to use the default location unless you have a very specific reason not to. The location you choose here will not determine where your files are recorded (so you can still record and save your files in C:\recordings as before). It simply determines where WavePad does various processing tasks such as generating temp files etc. You definitely don't want this folder to be the same as a folder where you save important files. Regards, Ben
