  1. Let the green line above the timeline complete, then preview should be smoother.  If necessary, reduce preview resolution via a right-click in the preview window|Change PV res.

If preview is still problematic, please upload your project for analysis.

  2. Perhaps VLC and WMP have different individual volume settings?

Content should not have been affected by media players;  they read the files but don't write them.  That said, you can try a different VP export format.

  3. If the hole (original) is longer than the fill (the fix), about all one can do is cut something out of the original.  That will create a jump frame.  The fill audio could also be slowed,  or individual words spaced out from one another, though the result may not sound natural.  Experiment.

A clip that's been split can usually be UNsplit.  Line up the mouse pointer on the split line between the two halves and right-click.  There may be an Unsplit Clips choice.  Otherwise just ignore the original split and make a new one where desired.  There will be no discontinuity at the split points.  The white brackets [  ] are used to drag start and end points of clips.

  4. Recent VP versions incorporate caching improvements.

For resource intensive video editing, beefier is better.  Something along the lines of an I7, 8GB RAM and NVidia video 6xx video would be minimal, in my opinion. though some VP users succeed with considerably less.

Prior to loading your project, Clear Unused Cache Files (OPTIONS|DISK).  Right-click the preview window and reduce preview resolution to the lowest acceptable numbers.

If loading is still sluggish or preview is tedious, use the Proxy Editing method described here.  It can make a world of difference on lower-end systems.

We would like to review your project.  Please upload and share it per the instructions here.

    Report back.

  5. Just be aware that it is reported the 'free' version will disable exports or limit them to specific formats, and disable some other features, when the 14-day trial period expires.

Purchase VP, and there will be no limitations.  Upgrades are free for six-months, but the version you pay for will function in perpetuity.

  6. What version of VP are you using?  What are your PC's specs?

The export speed depends on many factors, but are primarily affected by the following:

Computer's hardware specifications (CPU, hard drive, memory, etc)
Complexity of video (number of clips and effects, length)
Video export settings, including format, encoder, and rate factor/bit-rate.

If you'd like someone to confirm your findings and perhaps suggest other remedies, please upload and share the project.  Here's how...
