  1. If there are to be video clips that have unwanted audio, right-click them on the timeline and UNLINK.  Then delete the audio clips.

In the example below an song has been placed on the audio track.  The track can be locked with the lock icon at its left.  Once that's done, no video edits will affect it.

Note the three video clips on track one.  Because there are gaps between them, each has an f symbol and an X symbol.  To fade in a clip, click the f and set the duration.  To fade it out, click the X, choose FADE and set duration.

If the clips are contiguous (no gaps), only the first will have an f, to fade it in.  For subsequent clips, use the X and choose FADE, CROSSFADE or another transition.

If the video clips are to be seen over a background, place the background material on track 1.  If fades are desired, the inserted clips on track two can be handled as described above.  Wherever they are placed on track two, they will be seen in place of the background or, in the case of text, superimposed because higher tracks overlay (take precedence) over lower tracks.  Check out the many VP tutorials here.

  2. Instead of ranting, you'd be better served by working with folks...

    1.  You say "my computer is great."  What are its specs?

    2.  As for slow reprocessing, what are the file sizes?  With large files it's common practice to use proxy editing.  http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/26563-proxy-editing/  This will lessen buffering significantly.

    3.  Several 40+ minute videos, with numerous splits, have completed here in less than 1/2 hour.  What export format was used, what resolution?

Share your project, even as a private personal message to me or the developers,  and folks will check it out.  If there's a defect, it will be fixed.  Here's how...   http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/23659-tips-for-getting-help-on-this-forum/

    4.  If you purchased recently, you can request a refund.  https://www.nch.com.au/general/refund.html

Some YouTube acceptable export formats may be enabled.  Try an AVI or MPG video, then use their uploader.

The VP "free" (unlicensed) trial version has limitations.

The best thing is to buy, and have the use of all the features and export formats.

  4. Share your project and someone will check it out.  Here's how:  http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/23659-tips-for-getting-help-on-this-forum/

Be sure to make the folder public and link it here.

VideoPad has been known to crash due to problems with older graphics card drivers. If you are experiencing frequent crashes then you should download and install the latest drivers for your graphics hardware and update to the latest version of DirectX.

  5. Odd.  You can link your project to me privately via the personal messaging feature, if that's feasible.  Click the envelope at the top-right of the window.

Only other thought that comes to mind is to upgrade the PC.  With an I5 or I7 processor and 8Gb or more of RAM there should be a considerable improvement.

In lieu of that, try different export formats and lower resolutions, if they are applicable to your presentation.

  6. Video editing is resource intensive and your system may be holding you back.  But that doesn't explain the discrepancy between "a couple hours" and 19 - unless the latter contained comparatively more effects, transitions etc.

Though it is lengthy, suggest again that you upload the project, per the link above, so others can analyze it.  Be sure to make it public (share) and post a link here.

  7. Possible causes.

Upload the project and share it, as suggested in the other thread.  Someone will check it out.  Here's how...

  8. You should be good for free updates for up to six-months after registering.  Retain your old installer and give the latest a try.

Be sure that there's sufficient free space on the hard disk.  What are your PC's specs:  CPU, GPU, RAM, etc.?  It should not take 20 hours to complete that video.

If you'd like to share the project, so someone can check out export, follow the portable project upload instructions here.

    And check out this thread.

  9. One way would be to download a PNG circle image via an image search and place it on track 2 (the overlay track).

    Another approach...

    Download a high-contrast circle.

Place your text on track one and the circle on track two.

Click on FX in the circle clip on the timeline.  When the effects editor opens click the large green + at the top-left and choose GREEN SCREEN.

Use your mouse to maneuver the color picker in the preview window to the background area.  Click.  The background should vanish.  Adjust the sliders for best presentation.

Using either method, employ the SCALE, POSITION or other effects as needed.

  10. Believe that the intent was to wait for release of beta 7.02.

Although the pre-release site lists a specific version, that's often just a placeholder.

When you download look at the version # before installing.  When 7.02 pops up, then install.

  11. If a song was added, then it isn't linked to the video track.  That said, to unlink simply right-click each clip and click UNLINK video from audio (or audio from video).

The "lock" symbol is among the icons just to the left of the audio track.  Locking UNlinked audio should not affect the ability to edit the video track.

  12. 1.  Your project is whatever is on the timeline after editing is complete.  You may have used one or many files for the project.

    2.  The clips that are on the timeline are saved as a portable project folder, likely to your DOWNLOADS folder on the PC.  There will also be a VPJ control file.   Pay no mind to file type.  Upload that folder to the server.  Or you can open the folder and upload every file that it contains.  No need to zip.

    3.   If you have a Microsoft account - perhaps the one used to sign in when you fire up your PC - then use their OneDrive server.   In a browser go to http://onedrive.com.  Sign in if necessary or create an account.  Then click the FILE menu at the left.  At the top of the window click the UPLOAD button.  The File Explorer window will appear.  Go to the folder where you saved the portable project and upload every file.

    4.  Right-click on the saved file that results. Click SHARE, then GET A LINK.  Copy that link and post it here.
