  1. Confirmed... Load the Mp3 alone and it's fine. Load the VPJ project file that houses the Mp3 and there's no waveform. Audio plays only once on the sequence. Reported.
  2. While editing, close other programs. Under OPTIONS | EDITING toggle "use hardware acceleration' to see if that has any effect. Under OPTIONS | DISK, Clear Unused Cache Files. Yes, try not to utilize multiple sequences, relying instead on Nat's suggestions. If files are large very high resolution, consider using proxies.
  3. Please upload the file and share it here. Someone will analyse it to see if they can replicate your result.
  4. Best to begin a new thread with a descriptive subject and details in the body. What error? What is the format of the bad file? Upload it to a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc - and make it public (share it). Post the non-restricted shared link here and someone will check it out.
  5. The need for improvement in estimates has been acknowledged. In what VP version was size prediction more accurate?
  6. You have tacked onto a nearly ten-year old thread. Best to start a new thread with a descriptive subject and specifics in the body. In the EXPORT dialog, click the various links and chevrons to see options. Click the ? at the top-right of the VP window to access HELP files.
  7. Though a complex project may play on the timeline, the export may differ. To help prevent that, follow the suggestions in these threads. One way to approach this would be to import two tracks. Then set one track where "row" begins at the head of the timeline. PLAY. Drag track two until the audio matches. It may be necessary to clip off 'garbage' at the head of track two so it can be dragged far enough to the left to match up. Takes some experimentation. Lining up audio waveform peaks - one above the other - makes this easier. In some VP versions, right-click on the audio track and SYNC AUDIO. An alternative would be to load all tracks, then solo tracks one two. Match them up, then solo tracks one and three, and so on. After each is in sync you might right-click to the left of the track and LOCK TRACK. This will lock both audio and video for that clip.
  8. Share the project and we'll check it. out. Follow the PORTABLE project instructions here. It's easy, quick and can be private Don't upload the export - just the PORTABLE project folder. http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/23659-tips-for-getting-help-on-this-forum/ If it contains sensitive material link it in a personal message (PM). Click the envelope above. It won't be passed on or retained. Use FILE|SAVE PORTABLE PROJECT AS, not simply SAVE PROJECT, and don't forget to get a shareable, public link - not one that is restricted.
  9. This has nothing to do with licensing. Direct YouTube uploads occasionally fail due to data limits, which reset daily. A retry in early morning PDT hours may succeed. When this occurs export in a YouTube approved format (Mp4, AVI, etc.) and use their uploader. https://tinyurl.com/hcdrpts Just now tested a short VP-direct upload to YT and it succeeded.
  10. You can always make your wishes known via the Send Suggestion link accessible via the chevron at the top-right of the VP window. VP may run on XP, but that doesn't guarantee that all current features will be available. Can't speak for the company, but it's a fair bet that NCH will put in about as much effort as does MS on that obsolete, no longer supported OS.
  11. You have tacked onto a very old thread. Best to start anew with a descriptive subject and details. Building Preview usually means that the material has not fully cached. When done there should be a green line above most thumbnails. Let it do that before attempting to edit. With large files and long projects this can take some time. Please upload all files to a free server, make them public (share non-restricted) and paste the shared link here or in a private message (click the folder at the top-right of the window). Indicate specifically what occurs. Does it hang when placing the video on the sequence, or when you attempt to edit it? Are you adding new material? Include that content and label it as "new." What version of Videopad is being used? Consider installing the latest release. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
  12. Rarely does a company person stop by here. Most who help are users, just like yourself. VP does not kick folks off a project. The prompt is an invite to try a newer version, with improvements and, no doubt, a few bugs.^_^ If you've been using your licensed version for years, then it will continue to work as it has... and apparently it's been doing the job for you. If you don't care to update, don't. If you do, pay - or run an unlicensed version. If your original registration code has been lost or no longer works with your purchased version then that is a problem. Contact the company via the link above.
  13. VP does not lock out users or invalidate your registration. It may prompt an encouragement to update (for new features). You're not obligated to upgrade. One version can be installed at any one time. If the licensed version is installed it will work indefinitely. Re-register it if necessary. If you want to test a newer version, it will be a trial - unlicensed, of course - with some limitations.
  14. A license key is good for up to six-months of upgrades. After that there's a fee to upgrade, but your registered version never expires. Reinstall that version and if necessary input the code again. If it's been misplaced ... https://www.nch.com.au/support/reg.html If the installer has been lost ... http://oldversiondownload.com/
  15. There's no perfection in this world. But try this....
  16. And there may be considerable improvement when VP is released in a 64-bit version.
  17. Various approaches can do the job and, as noted, there should be no problem with a quad-split. You might start with the main track and stack one other above it. Sync and mix them, then mute the 2nd track. Add track three, sync and mix it, mute it and so on. Balance, gain, EQ, etc. can be adjusted for each track. Then unmute all and make final mix adjustments. Save the sequence audio as a new file, as instructed above, for a back up. After saving the project with a unique # or name, the audio tracks optionally can be replaced with the mix. Then use SPLIT SCREEN to assign video tracks to quadrants A, B, C and D. If resolutions are high, with big file sizes, check out Proxy Editing. This can be worth the conversion time, especially on low-powered systems. Essentially that would be pre-sizing, per your thought, but without the need for substitution of the originals at export. With the method described, just now created a twelve-second 2 x 2 grid quad-split on a low-end I3 PC with a conventional hard drive. Source resolutions varied: 1024 x 576, 720 x 480, 634 x 352 and 1280 x 720; formats were AVI and WMV. Export at 1280 x 720 took thirty-seconds and looked great.
  18. http://oldversiondownload.com/ Here, whatever version has been chosen, then downloaded and double-clicked has installed THAT version. In reality, recent versions should be faster. Back in the day resolutions and files were smaller; that may account for the perception of speed. The latest version is here.
  19. Yes, when copying SEQ 1 to another sequence it is normal for audio and effects not to display, but they're there. Check out the SPLIT-SCREEN effect, where each stacked track is assigned to fit perfectly into a grid. See http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/30975-virtual-choirdiana/ All audio tracks will be heard and seen. Several at a time can be soloed, to sync them. With audio complete, click the bin's SEQUENCE tab, right click on the sequence and SAVE SEQUENCE AUDIO AS NEW FILE. If desired, this can be a replacement for all the (unlinked) audio tracks, will simplify the sequence display and may lessen the processing load a bit. A high # of tracks can run VP out of usable memory (not RAM) during export, resulting in freezing or missing content. A lower resolution export often succeeds. But there shouldn't be an issue with a simple quad split. In genera, rely mainly upon the X/Y BASE positioning options in the split-screen dialog. And stick with a single sequence. When editing, regularly SAVE PROJECT AS, giving it a unique # or name. This avoids overwriting earlier saves. Don't use SAVE PROJECT, as that will overwrite. If you make an editing mistake, press <ctrl-Z> to undo step-by-step. Same as EDIT | UNDO. <ctrl-Y> will REdo. Use the latest VP version.
  20. It's doubtful that XP - ancient as it is - is actively supported Try an older version of VP, from back in the day. http://oldversiondownload.com/
  21. It's best to start a new thread with a descriptive subject - this one is nearly three years old. How long is this project? What is the resolution of the bulk of its files? (Right-click a file in the bin, click PROPERTIES and look at the dimension numbers.) When you export to a video file instead of directly to YouTube, does it display correctly? If yes, try using YouTube's uploader instead of VP-direct. If not, please share your project. That's easy, quick and can be private. Follow the PORTABLE project instructions below. Don't upload the exported file. http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/23659-tips-for-getting-help-on-this-forum/ If it contains sensitive material link it in a personal message (PM). Click the envelope above. It won't be passed on or retained. Use FILE|SAVE PORTABLE PROJECT AS, not simply SAVE PROJECT, and don't forget to get a shareable (non-restricted) link to post. Consider installing the latest release. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
  22. It's been said that estimates are not especially accurate. Try AVI or Mp4 with the MPEG4 compressor, or a lower frame rate or 'quality' to see if this results in a smaller file without appreciable quality loss. Report the issue by clicking the chevron at the upper-right of the VP window and submit a bug.
  23. Update to Windows 10. Of course, you knew that suggestion was coming... 🤨
  24. On the sequence (not preview) move the cursor to the desired position, then slide the clip left or right to match that spot. Expand the timeline with the slider at the bottom-right for more precision. Specific times can be entered as well. Be sure that the focus is on the sequence. Click the Cursor box that's under the preview window. Then type the desired time and hit <enter>.
  25. With a clip selected, drag the red cursor line (with the little triangle on top) in the preview thumbnail area to the right until it's where you want to begin. Click the SET START button. Drag the line to where you want to end and click the SET END button. Click the ADD button to drop your selection onto the sequence at the cursor location. Or click the chevron to the right of the ADD button to see other choices. There may also be TRIM START and TRIM END buttons on the toobar that accomplish the same thing.
