  1. I'm using V3.04 of VideoPad with a Windows 8 computer. When I try to change a video clip to slow motion, it momentarily works, but on playback, the screen for that clip is black.

Here, using Windows 7, slowing a clip adds a black area ahead of the slow-mo portion. If one splits the clip (intending to excise the black) then preview video is all black.

Hints that this is a bug.

  2. Video editing is resource intensive. Thus it's not inconceivable that your PC is being over-taxed during the render, causing the lag.

List your PC's specs, and someone may speculate further.

  3. Today I recorded a video using Fraps. That video is 1080p. When I play it, it looks very nice. Now I import it into Video pad, video pad does its conversion as it always does, except now it converts it to extremely low 240P resolution.

Here, preview of a 1080p Mp4 clip was fairly low res. But when exported to 1080p/60f as an AVI it looked about the same as the original. Same for 30f/sec.

Have you viewed the export-to-file result of your clip?

  4. I'm trying to make exports to H264 and get this error: "Failed to create your movie. Could not initialize video output.".

Export to MPEG proceeding normally. K-Lite Codec installed. How to solve the problem?

What version of VP? Are you writing to the drive or burning to a DVD disc?

Similar messages have been reported, yet at times the burn succeeded.

An alternative is to write to disc then use other software to burn the file to DVD.

  5. Can I produce a menu from within videopad to make it that a viewer can select sequence1 or sequence 2 from the startup image first presented on a DVD?

    This, from the NCH FAQ...

"Can I create a menu on the video DVD?

VideoPad does not yet support Menu creation on its DVDs.

However, Express Burn disc burning software does support menu creation, and even includes templates to help you design the menu that's best for your movie."

  6. The problem is that in timeline mode the image only covers a part of the video, it can not be really inserted between the scenes even after the video has been split.

    Appears to be so.

In 3.04 if you want to use timeline mode first split, then select BOTH audio and video tracks. Left-click within those tracks and drag them W-A-Y-Y to the right.

Now insert your blank clip at the cursor (the end of the earlier clip).

Again select both tracks that were dragged and drag them left to line up with the end of the blank clip.

  7. Thanks, Nationalsolo. Unfortunately, if I do that, I get this result: http://tinypic.com/r/5b3g5f/5. It is just an overlay.

However, if I split the video and then insert the image on the storyboard (http://tinypic.com/r/vi1zjl/5), it does work and the result is this: http://tinypic.com/r/ekrxwp/5.

It appears that the only way to achieve an accurate video AND audio blank clip insert while in timeline mode is to first split the clip, add the blank at the split, and then drag the audio clip to the right to match the video out point.

    Easier in storyboard mode.

  8. My video has 2 scenes. I'd like to insert a blank clip between the scenes.

Place the scrubber (the red marker line) at the spot you want the insert to be.

Left-click the ADD BLANK CLIP button, then click ADD. The clip appears in the preview window.

Click the green arrow below the preview window. Choose "place on sequence at cursor." Click ADD.

  9. I have completed a project with several tracks which took quite a bit of editing the clips. I am now working on a second problject and I would like to copy one track from project1 to another in project 2. Any way to do it other then exporting the track to a file and importing the file in project2?

Doesn't seem so. When EDIT|COPY/PASTE is attempted between projects here (open new, then PASTE) the program crashes (Win 7) with an "abnormal exception."

You can, however, use the CLIP menu to insert clips from another project, but that doesn't appear to be what you desire.

  10. Hi, I also have a Macbook: OSX v10.6.8, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM. No graphics card by the way. I cannot export my project to a movie, whatever settings I choose. Please help! (Video editor version 3.04)

It's best to start a new, descriptive topic - to get the most attention. Please describe the procedure used to export the project and precisely what happens when it fails.

There have been reports of successful DVD burns, despite error warnings. I have seen that on a Windows 8 platform. Producing to a file on the hard disk, then burning

with another program is an alternative.

  11. When making a DVD it completes and verifies with no problem, but about two thirds through playing the picture it freezes the picture but the DVD keeps reading until I stop it.

You may achieve better results if you produce the project in VP as a file to the hard drive, then burn it to DVD with another program.

  12. WinXP (sp3), AMD Sempron 2600+, 2 gig RAM, nvidia geforce fx 5700 (driver is 6.14.11.7519 2008)(175.19)

Just d/l Videopad last week so I'm assuming latest version also went to nvidia.com and have latest driver for video card.

Can't say with certainty that the vintage/capabilities of your PC are causing the problem, but you might be better served by VP version 2.41. It's available here. Worth a try.

  13. Hi!

I've just recently started to use videopad. I've used it for recording a presentation in which I recorded the speaker using two cameras. I've imported the video files into videopad and synched them up so that I have the same thing shot from two different angles. This is a two hour presentation. I would like to select at what times camera A is used and at what times camera B is used when the output video is rendered.

One suggestion would be to place the master camera on video track 2, and the syncronized second camera on video track 1, knowing that video track 2 will override track 1.

At the points where you want track 1 to be seen, make IN/OUT splits on track two and remove just that portion of the video - leaving a gap.

Another approach would be to make the IN/OUT splits and drop the opacity for the track 2 clip to zero, which would allow track 1 to be seen during that clip.

Check out this discussion, which also delves into the nuances of crossfades.

  14. New to VideoPad. Winxp

I've tried to load several different formats of videos and none will show in clip preview or anywhere else. Audio shows up in the Audio track and plays fine. All I get in the Video track, Clip preview and Ses. preview is a black screen and green line.

    Your system specs?

Download and install the latest video driver from the chip or card manufacturer's WEBsite

Install the latest Videopad version from http://www.nchsoftwa...opad/index.html

  15. I was wondering can I pixelate only selected area in the video. Like when I'm typing my email and password and I need to hide that.

To a degree, you can accomplish this by using two effects: pixelate and motion (scale).

On the second video (overlay) track place the effected image directly over the track one image that you want to obscure.

  16. If you make a video over 5 or 6 minutes long (approximately) it loses all control and just plays the video over and over with all controls greyed out.

Played an eight-minute sequence in 3.04 and could not duplicate the problem you cited; these clips stopped at the end of play.

  17. When I save a project and upload to UTube the audio/video goes out of sync. My saved timings seem to disappear, especially on the title.

    How can I fix this?

What file type did you upload? YouTube supports these...

    • .MOV
    • .MPEG4
    • .AVI
    • .WMV
    • .MPEGPS
    • .FLV
    • 3GPP
    • WebM

You might try a different format.

  18. Selecting multiple clips seems to show clips selecting (going blue) and unselecting going light blue) eg. Left click Clip 1 with shift down (blue), then click the others (typical Windows multiselect action). But clicking the next clip unselects clip 1 (goes light blue) but selects clip 2.(goes blue). Clicking clip 3 (shift still down) deselects clip 2 (goes pale blue and selects clip 3 (goes blue)...... Clicking clip1 followed by clip3 (shift down) just leaves clip 3 selected........This gives the impression you have ended up with still only one clip selected. In fact if you then clip the Transition tab and select the transition you are told you have multiselected. That's a bit confusing.

It works normally in the media list to put multiple clips on the sequence line.

    Seems to work this way...

The selected clip that has focus is dark blue while other selected clips are pale blue. To DEselect a single clip hold down <shift> and click on it. It turns silver.

And how do you remove the multiselection? Clicking a single entry on the media list deselects the others. But on the sequence line clicking a single clip afterwards still leaves the others (apparently) selected even when only one is blue.

Click in an open area - not on the timeline - to deselect all clips.
