  1. Hi These option are all available in the effects included in VP. There is no need to unlink the soundtrack. With your clip loaded just click the FX box located at the left end of the sound clip. This will open a list for you to choose from. The chosen effect can be varied in intensity along the length of the clip using keyframes if required. If the timeline is subsequently split you may have to re-apply the effect to the sections produced. Nat
  2. Hi Currently the VP effects do not have a "Speed Change" effect option but the suggestion has been put forward. You can apply a change of speed to a clip as a whole, with or without a change in sound pitch but the applied change will be fixed for the whole of the clip. There is no provision in VP (AFAIK) to vary the speed gradually within a clip using keyframes. It means that if you want to show acceleration or deceleration throughout a clip you would have to split it into numerous small segments and apply increasing (or decreasing) speed values to each segment. Nat
  3. Hi Provided you have not split and removed sections of the audio you should be able to place it back onto the timelime under the video track and move it so it synchronizes again. However, even though it originally came from the video VP sees it as a different sound clip and you will not be able to re-link it. You can however, group it with the video. This will, in effect "re-link" it. But If you make splits in the tracks the grouping between the sections may be broken and you will have to regroup any bits that come apart. In certain circumstances editing using IN/OUT markers on the grouped sound/video clips in the clip preview window can be problematical. VP does have some sound editing options which can be applied to the audio track which does not require the track to be removed. What sort of editing to the sound are you doing? Nat
  4. Hi Version 4.00 (March 2015) was 4.7 MB Version 4.05 (May 2015) was 5.1 MB Nat
  5. Hi Adding your scrolling text... (V6.31) Click the Add Text tab on the toolbar. The top line of options has static text as well as scrolling options. Choose option Scrolling Bottom to Top This will open the text editor. Select your font from the drop down list. Select Text type. Select Text size. Select (swipe) the default text in the window so it highlights blue. Edit the text Swipe (select the text once more) Click the Text color square and select the desired colour using the pipette. Select Background option...Editor (Just the editor to contrast with the text in the editor. (On the timeline the background will be transparent)..Text (Surrounds the text only) Full background (The Image background colour with the text on it will appear on the timeline) Click the background colour square and use the pipette to select the colour. (Obviously this should be different to the text or the latter would be invisible. As mentioned above, If you want text on a transparent background then you should select Editor background. Select Text justification (Right/Centre/Left) Note: Top/Middle/Bottom are disabled when up/down or down/up scrolling has been selected. The text image is now in the image clip bin and the scrolling text with the desired attributes is now on the overlay track at the current cursor position. Play the sequence; The text should scroll from Bottom to top. The speed of the scroll depends on the duration of the text image. You can drag the ends of the clip out slow it down or set a different default duration for images in the VP Options. For certain reasons you cant directly place an image into your post but you can set a link to it using Dropbox or Pctr or other hosting sites. If you want instructions on how to use Position to scroll text just post..There is slightly more control over the the text regarding the duration and movement. Nat
  6. Hi You can also create your text as a simple static text image and then add a Position effect to it with keyframes to make it move in any direction (and speed) you like. Nat
  7. Hi " ..but I cannot choose the resolution for the snapshot anymore because the actual menu for it is gone. .." Right click the preview image and select "Take snapshot of Clip.(or Sequence)" The resolution menu will appear for selection. Nat
  8. Hi Previous versions of VP .exe file were all more than 5.0 MB (The VP 6.3 exe file was 5.8 MB) Version 6.31 appears to be only 2.6 MB... Why is this? Has something been left out? Just in the process of downloading it. Seems a bit odd. Nat
  9. Hi Try this.. You don't necessarily need the sound clip on the Audio track... Load the sound clip into VP Select the audio clip in the audio clip bin and look at the preview screen. You will see a blue line along the centre Play the preview and at the loud points grab the line and pull it down. This will decrease the volume at that point. You can repeatedly play the clip and re-adjust the points until the required effect is obtained. Nat
  10. Hi B Ooooh Dear!..I am still editing a single 40 min VHS Super8 film copy which now has lots of cuts where I trimmed out splices.and with added Xfades etc......It's now dozens of individual small clips............Haven't tried exporting it yet...... Nat
  11. Hi Well, That's a bit of progress at least. I took out the FX s and left the Fades and it failed but without the FXs and the fades turned into XFades it exported OK. Odd. Still, if NCH are looking at it.... @Borate..You say yours with XFades failed..Did you leave the FXs in? Nat PS this is the "sliver" to remove TAC.
  12. Hi Borate and TAC The project exported OK I had removed all the FX (and the small sliver of clip I noticed mentioned above) and changed all the fade transitions to XFade transitions.. The export was an MPEG4 H246 HQ of 1920 x 1080p 29.97fps. I am pretty certain that the problem lay with the Fade transition being used on a clip that joins to a following clip. IMHO you should use XFade where clips touch. TAC... Load the project and go along it clicking the transition X and then where it mentions Fade, click the Xfade option. The duration should be already set at 1 second. Find the clip bit I mentioned at the join at 31.9 secs ; click it and delete it and then drag the end of right hand clip to the left to close the gap. I don't now think that the FX you added (Pan and Zoom) cause the problem so I would try an export with them still in and see what happens....I'll do that as well. 🎶 She's a hi rollin baby...🎶🎵 Nat
  13. Hi Borate and TAC OK. They may have found something but I have noticed something else a bit odd. I loaded TACs original vpj file and once VP had sortied it out I removed all the FX (mostly Pan and Zoom) but left the transitions. This didn't do anything to an export which still dropped various image clips. I then replayed the VP preview which seemed OK but noticed a jump in the transition at 31.9 secs in. On zooming in I found that this was a short length of image clip (0.146 seconds) so I deleted it and then dragged the following image clip (its parent) back to fill in the space and then re-established a 1 second crossfade. All images seemed to be 3 seconds image durations. Then noticed all the transitions in this project were Fades and not what I personally would use .i.e...Crossfades. Fade normally (perhaps logically) would be used at the end of a clip where there is a gap (e.g. text or end of project) not between clips in contact where Crossfade would be used. This might be the source of the problem. I'''ll see what happens if I change them all to Crossfades of 1 second. But before that I'll try an export with NOTHING set up, just images and a video clipclip....That ought to work or there is something very wrong.. Nat
  14. Hi Converted this to a sequence and exported that as 1080p MPEG4 with the same result....blackout (in a different place.) Now exporting sequence again as mpeg2 720p Default quality..... Just lookd at it exporting and last bit seemed to export rather fast??..... Yup! Complete clips black out towards the end and last 30 seconds all black. Soundtrack OK. NCH should check. It ought to be a straightforward job...Just export of image clips with fade transitions FX and a single video clip..... I'll remove all the FX and see if that changes anything... Nat
  15. Hi TAC and Borate There is still something odd here. I replaced the wide angle image IMG_4595 which at 16382 x 3816 VP apparently couldn't convert (and left corrupted) with a resized file of 1920 x 447 pixels and which VP loaded OK. I exported the project unaltered apart from this at 1280 x 720 (i.e. a smaller resolution) as an mpeg4 H264 default quality 30fps and it still lost some images at different places this time towards the end including half the finishing title and its image. I'll try some different changes I do think it's related to the FX used. Nat
  16. Hi With respect to zooming with the scroll wheel. If you use the wheel to zoom to a preselected cursor line position, you may find that (depending on the length of the project,) the increasing expansion of the timeline will cause the red cursor line to move relative to the screen. i.e. If you have a big project and you are zoomed out with the cursor line in the centre and you then zoom in with the scroll wheel, the cursor line will move away from the centre and will require you to re-position the timelime using the scroll bar at the bottom of the screen. If it actually moves off the screen it may not come back without a bit of fiddling. The best way is to pick out the part of the timeline using the preview screen that you want to examine more closely and then use the Zoom scroll bar at the bottom right. This keeps the cursor line central. That is to say VP zooms in on the cursor line without moving the timeline. With a short project you may find the scroll wheel adequate. Nat
  17. Hi TAC No....It's OK All the files downloaded and unpacked from dropbox OK. They loaded to VP from the vpj file and reassembled your project correctly. This played fine in preview with no glitches.....(Rather nice memory of your trip I thought) Unlike Borate I didn't find any problems to tweak in the preview and so exported to my PC as a Custom mpeg4; H264 high quality 1920 x 1080 - 1080p Constant 29.97 fps (TN NTSC) file. This appeared to export correctly However, there was break in the images at 2m 05 up to 2m.20. and from 2.28 (middle of the mpeg4 clip) to the end the visual playback stopped entirely. Sound played throughout though. Re-exported at a 1080 mpeg4 (native) high quality avi..just to see if there might be any difference. Nothing noticeable in VP itself. The mpeg4 avi did the same at the same point (open road image (jpg 4575). Still playing with it. but have to go out shortly. NCH may take a look. Currrently trying a UT 1280 x720p mpeg 4H264 . I have had problems with the sound when exporting mpeg4 but not with yours. Get back with what happens. Later.... Oddly this export played almost to the end perfectly but then lost the last few images... No idea why. I am wondering if the FX Pan/Zoom are the problem. I'll continue to play with this... BTW playback was with VLC... Nat
  18. Hi TAC I'll take a look anyway. Downloading it just now...Is there a vpj file imcluded? All I can see is 5 jpgs. Nat
  19. Hi Drop Box folder empty... Nat
  20. Hi VP 6.30 works correctly with speed increase . Later clips automatically shuffle back to fill the gap. Nat

    Caching

Hi VP 6.30 with a old-slow Vista PC With a long NEW project just placed on the timeline for the first time I sometimes get that message as the cache is filling. It's normal if you try to start anything before VP has sorted the clips out and placed copies etc into the cache file. In general wait for the thin green bar over the timeline to finish. Playing the timeline before this is completed will cause playback stoppages. The clips however will generally play OK as they have already been processed by the time their thumbnails appear in the clip bin.Assembling the timeline usually takes longer depending how many clips are added..singly or all together. Even when you think the files are sorted and the green bar is complete there are occasions when the sound files are still processing. In this event if you try anything VP shows a message letting you know this. In general you just have to wait. In connection with the thin green progress bar. Sometimes (here at least) this stops, usually at a clip join but I have no idea why. If I see this I click the clip that is waiting or move the cursor line and this seems to give VP a nudge and the progress bar then carries on. Check your cache file is not full by clearing out unused old files. What format of clip; resolution and size are you loading? Nat
  22. Hi Where do you see New File? Anyway, try this...With the clip on the timeline.. Save the project....then.. Split at point 1 Split at point 2 Grab the portion between the splits. Drag and drop it in the clip bin. This gives a new clip of that portion in the clip bin. Copy/Paste of the section on the timeline can only be transferred (Inserted/overlaid etc.) elsewhere on the timeline. You could also delete the unwanted sections and then export the bit you require or create a sequence if your section is more complex. Nat
  23. Hi Borate Yes, I noticed both 4th and 5th worked for the grouped clips. I originally got the impression that the option dialogue that comes up when the toolbar tab is used for grouped clips automatically dealt with all the clips without that last step as the FX for each went blue but only one worked. Gives the impression that its a program error. The 5th button is more logical in its description though. There have been questions on the forum before about the action not working correctly. Anyway it's sussed now. Nat
  24. Hi If you Copy/Paste the text image from the timeline to the timeline (Copy choices are..Insert/overwrite/Overlay) it's the same clip/object and any changes made to the text therein will change all the other copies in the same way. i.e. Bin copies as well as timeline copies. Copy/Paste the text image back to the image bin will create a new text file that can be edited without changing the parent clip. i.e. You will now have new clips in the bin although the text will be the same. Note: VP won't allow a Copy/Paste from the bin to the timeline. Nat
  25. Hi Had another look at this...You can apply the audio effect to all the other clips but it needs an extra step..... Group your clips on the timeline (Select the track /Ctrl+A/Right click and select Group Clips) Select the group Press the SHIFT key and then right click the Toolbar Audio Effects down button. Select your effect. This will open the Apply effect to all clips etc. dialogue screen . (As several clips are selected as a group) Click Apply to all. The FX on each clip in the group will turn blue. Apply the effect. Currently the effect is only applied to the clip under the cursor line even though the other clips in the group have the FX in blue. This has led to some confusion. Another step is required... With the effect pane still open Click the 4th button along at the top. It looks like a piece of film with a tick. This button will replace the effect on the other clips in the group. All the clips should now have the effect applied. Nat
