  1. Hi

"....And it's still showing the video after its been exported.

Could not find the export option though......."

    That doesn't make sense.

If you exported your project it will still be present on the timeline and you will know where the option is. (You will have used it export your project as an mp4 or AVI clip) and in this case the  Export Video option on the tool bar will still be active.

If...on the other hand you closed VP or emptied the timeline by deleting all the clips the Export Video option will be inactive since the timeline would be empty.

  2. Hi

You can Copy/Paste text from a variety of sources into the VP text editor, but you will still have to format it yourself once pasted. Note that it will not always be a long single line of text as Enter  (New Line) in the copied text will produce a new line in the VP editor. However, this being so, long lines of text will always be present but outside the editor window and will need to be truncated into a new line.  The font size is also a factor as is the video AR. WYSIWYG as a rule hence it's a matter of user editing.

  3. Hi Greg

    At a bit of a loss...

    • Open VP and then Add Title
    • Click Typewriter
    • Type "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" Make it Arial; size 9 and Red

    aa.jpg

The interface should now look like the above and scrubbing the cursor line along the timeline (or playing the preview) should show the text appearing letter by letter in the preview screen. Note the clip durations, (I have kept the text edit box visible in the image above)

Does it work at your end this far??

Exported as an MP4  it plays here in VLC.....

    FOX.jpg

If you don't get an export of a single text , on its own then something is a bit odd.

  4. Hi Greg

Do they play in the preview? Even if you placed them above each other on the tracks and had them all centered on the screen they should all be visible and play if animated as they have transparent backgrounds.....e.g........

    bb.jpg

What version of VP are you using? Above is with 8.94. This example exported correctly and played correctly in VLC.

It's an unusual fault as the sequence preview is usually what exports. So... Questions....

Was the Simple text overlay placed on the top track (track 4,) and did you for some reason did you set the text background in the editor to Full background? (Black by default) If so it would cover up the texts below it.

What is the result if you arrange all the texts on their different  tracks so as  to follow each other (i.e. staggered) and check THAT export. They should play one after another. Do they?

If that fails then pull all the texts down to Track 1 so they follow each other. That export should play.Do they?

Have you perhaps Hidden the Track on output?

  5. Hi batista230

You are using VP 7.24 which is a little old although can't recall this problem with it but it's possible.-_- Try the latest release as Borate suggests.

Your two images show the VP timeline as expected.  i.e. a video clip with the audio muted. An new audio track added under to replace it and an image added onto the end to extend the visuals to match the added audio. (Not sure why the main clip is split however) Nevertheless it should ALL export OK as an mp4.

    Suggestion

    • Load your project back to VP by clicking your saved vpj file.
    • Wait until the green bar has completed.
    • Convert the timeline into a Sequence by clicking the + that follows Sequence 1 x at the left end above the timeline.
    • Open the Sequence bin and load Sequence 2 to the timeline.
    • Export that as a mp4 /H264 /Default quality/Auto match content

Does this export play?   A similar setup plays here with 8.94 using VLC.

You could also load the exported mp4 back to VP as though it was a clip and see if it plays OK. Again it should.

  6. Hi batista230

"......If I double click on the file from the C drive, ......"

I have to assume you are double clicking the previously saved vpj file  like this one?aa.jpg

    "..........it loads the program......."

By "program" are now referring to Videopad? If so That is correct!  Clicking a vpj file will start by opening VP.

".....and tries to locate it in either the E or D drive which is not attached to the computer at present....."

That is normal. The data held in the vpj file tell VP where the clips were when they were used.

"........It would appear now that it is looking for the original files that I made the used in video pad file up with in the first please place........."

That is correct!...In this case the clips in question are not present on your C drive and VP can't find them. It knows from the vpj file data that they were stored on either the E or D drive but these are not attached to your PC. It therefore brings up the Resolve Missing Files screen...

Here is an example where images for a project were stored on a removable drive. (Drive H ) The vpj  project file was saved to the C drive. The portable drive was removed in the interim and so clicking the vpj icon in order to load the project , loads VP as expected but then displays the Resolve Missing Files window as the drive where they are stored (H) is not connected... The expected pathway is printed in yellow......

    aa.jpg

It is now up to you to locate them!

Click Resolve button and navigate to the correct location. (In this case I would have to reconnect the portable drive  and find the image files manually.

"........That would be impossible! since it is looking for the files in the D drive. And I never have had a D drive attached...."

The reference to a D drive may also refer to a USB socket. (My DVD writer/player is permanently connected to the D USB socket) Did you possibly load files from a USB key that you plugged into a USB socket? One might not always note (probably never) the actual drive letter when you do this..but the vpj file will:)

Removing the key when finished is normal

  7. Hi

Checked your .AVI. You don't seem to be resolving the missing files. Assuming you previously saved your project do this...

    • Open VP
    • Click Menu  and select File and then Open Project   (or Recent Projects) This will open a folder where VP last saved a vpj file. (or list the Recent vpj files).  If you Saved your project it will be an Untitled.vpj   If you Saved Project As  it will have a name that you gave it.
    • Browse in that folder to find the vpj file that you saved  and click it e.g....aa.jpgor click the Recent project link
    • VP will now open your project and you can continue to edit it or export it. Note that the vpj file is NOT a video file. It only a text file that contains the data that VP needs to reconstruct your project,  like the name and location of any clips/audio files/image files etc that make up your project. If you have deleted any of those files or moved them to another location VP will not be able to load them and you will see a window similar to this......
    • bb.jpg
    • This indicates that these files cannot be loaded to VP as they are missing or have been moved or have had their name changed.
    • For each file in turn click the Resolve  button. This opens the folder indicated by the vpj data. Use the section on the left of the window to browse to the folder where the clip in question has been moved to. It is up to you to browse to it. Once you have located it, click Open and the clip will be loaded to VP and the Resolve Missing Files screen will now list that resolved file in green...
    • ccc.jpg
    • Repeat for the remaining files that are missing and then click Finish. Your project should then be complete.

  8. Hi B

That links to 9.04 but although it initially loaded and behaved OK for a short test it crashed on being reopened. I sent in a report. for NCH info. Note however that c-major has reverted this version til problem is ironed out.

  9. Hi

The version number is at the bottom left of the screen. It's 8.99 and fairly recent and you are using the Unlicenced  Home version.

The screen display shows you have opened a previously saved project.  a vpj file (untitled) but it requires two mp4 files to complete the loading. These are both listed and both location and name are shown.

For some reason VP cannot find these files as they have been..

    1. Deleted from your PC or
    2. Moved to a different location on your PC

The problem is for you to resolve. If you deleted the files you would need to reload them, or if you moved them to another folder you would need to click the Resolve button and then browse to that folder. If you then click the file VP will load it it. Your project will then be restored.

  10. Hi

With VP open, click the loud speaker icon at the bottom right of the PC screen...next to the time. Open the Volume mixer. There will be one for VP (among others).........

    aa.jpg

If the VP slider is at the bottom (as shown here) you will hear so sound in VP although it will export as you are describing. The answer is obviously to move the slider to the top.

If it's already at the top......????????????

  11. Hi

    VP is certainly supported!:)

    Download the latest version here..

    https://www.nchsoftware.com/videopad/versions.html

or the Free version to try here,,,

    https://www.nchsoftware.com/videopad/index.html?ref=nls191WA

What version are you trying to use and what files could not be located? You are adding a file from a specific folder (using Add files) so VP should recognise it. What happens when you drag and drop a video clip directly to the VP clip bin?

  12. Hi

Since you are using a background clip a different approach has to be used when adding your choir clips together. You won't be able to simply add them side by side and displaced to show all the singers which is the way we came up with for creating a multi screen chior.

As noted, the clips containing the first row of videos..(horizontal or vertical), unlike the original split layout which you created, do not now have a transparent background but there may be another problem with what you are wanting to achieve.

    As a simple example..

    • Place your background image/clip on Video Track 1......it will fill the frame.
    • bb.jpg
    • Place your exported first clip containing your row of singers on Video Track 2. Because this clip is no longer transparent being an exported split screen clip, it will cover the background clip completely.  You will just see the row of singers (say the left hand vertical row) the right hand side will be black....
    •
    • aa.jpg
    •
    • Initially it is a simple idea.....make the black area transparent so you can see the background clip...... So....
    • Click the FX box for the singers clip (Video Track 2)  and select the Green Screen effect.
    • Use the pipette to select the colour that you want to make transparent. (black - and you can pick it from the sequence preview image if you like) The black area will now be transparent (chequered) You should now see the background clip with the vertical row of singers on the left...
    •
    • ccc.jpg
    •
    • It has worked OK.....But look closely and you will see that the singer at the top has also lost its background as it was black!...... If there is black anywhere in the singer clip it will become transparent. That is the problem.

The way around this is to create a mask around the required black area and make that transparent. There is no need for a Green Screen. As all the singer clips are identical with a row at the left end, the mask can be saved if needed and  used for all the clips but as  it's a simple rectangle it's probably easier to make one for each singer clip.

So try this for each singer clip in turn..

    • Place the background clip on Video Track 1
    • Place the first singer clip on a higher track..It will cover the background clip as mentioned above.
    • Click the FX and then click the Add effect mask. (To the right of the green +) This puts a dotted mask on the clip preview image...
    •
    • dd.jpg
    • Grab the corner blocks and move them to the corners of the black area..
    •
    • ee.jpg
    •
    • In the Effects window make sure the Mask inside box is ticked and then add a Transparency effect. Make the Opacity 0% (Slide to the left)
    • The masked area only will now be transparent (chequered) and the background clip will now be visible....
    •
    • gg.jpg
    •
    • Note the top singer now has its background. Do this for each of the singer clips. You can now move them to different parts of the screen; come in singly; move etc and always see the background clip. The only time the background will be covered is if you place the singers side by side..

    Hope this helps

  13. Hi Chris Bm

Now I am confused as my first reply with image was to a query by Fluubs. :D

No problem though...Glad it re-opened with no crash but not knowing exactly at what point you saved your project, can't say why there are missing clips. Were you prompted to resolve any missing clips when it reloaded? Did you possibly do a save before adding further clips? nevertheless it doesn't explain why things crashed. You could try clearing the cache and re-running the vpj file you saved.

  14. Hi Chris

You tagged onto a non related problem. (Topic title was perhaps too vague so it's understandable) Please start a new topic, otherwise it gets confusing. :)

Did you save your project at any time?....Save project   or   Save Project As?

When you re-open VP do you get a message regarding opening an autosaved project?

You have used 26 tracks?? That's a lot.

Upload to a server as Borate describes and someone can take a look.

    Nat.

  15. Hi Perrry

".......I'd just go to Add Blank, pick whichever color of background that I want, drop that into the Track and then type whatever I want in Subtitles. ......"

That works fine but means an extra step...and uses two tracks. :)   It's far simpler (as you are going there anyway) to designate  a Full Background colour when you write the text.

Subtitles are a another case.  If so designated, subtitle text is placed in a coloured background which is equivalent to the Text Background setting when entering Text.

  16. Hi KeithKKA

If you notice that that the audio Starts in synch and then gradually gets behind or in front of the video you could also try this..

    • Unlink the audio
    • Click the audio and select Change Clip speed
    • Increasing the speed slightly.....101.....102   etc. will keep the start as it was but make the audio finish very slightly sooner This can correct audio that is gradually lagging.
    • You could also adjust the speed of the video track to get the same effect. (Slight speed adjustments of either track will not be noticed.)
    • When the synch looks OK Group both tracks so they remain together.

    Nat

  17. Hi

Very straightforward. This is the simplest..

    • Load the clip to VP and place on Video Track 1
    • Move the red cursor line to  the first cut point (3.45)
    • When you release the cursor click the scissor icon that appears...aa.jpg This will split the clip
    • Move the cursor line to 4.00 and repeat the process.
    • Right click the section between the two splits
    • Select the option Delete (ripple). This will delete the unwanted section and close any gap

The clip is once again complete but minus the selected section. It obviously leaves a join.

  18. Hi

    • Open VP.
    • Click Add Files on the top toolbar and load your Audio Clip. It will appear in the Audio bin (Top LHS)
    • Drag/Drop this to Audio Track 1 (or right click and use Place...)
    • Load any video clips in a similar way and place them as required on Video Track 1
    • Click Add Text on the top toolbar and select Simple Text Overlay
    • Swipe the default text and write your own. Close the editor window
    • Your text will appear in the Image bin and also automatically on Video Track 2  at the cursor position
    • Move text clip to position required.
    • Add further text clips in a similar way and position on Track 2 as required
    •
    • bb.jpg
    •
    • Text is created on a transparent background so clips beneath are visible. Upper tracks are overlay tracks and cover lower tracks unless they are transparent or are smaller.

To group the Text Audio and Video. (As they come from different sources they cannot be linked but note that any video clips with audi remain linked with the audio appearing on Audio Track 2)......

    • Place the cursor on the first text clip and press the left hand mouse button down, The clip will go grey as you have selected it. Keep the mouse button pressed
    • Now press CTRL and A  at the same time. All the clips should now go grey.
    • Keep the keys pressed down and right click
    • From the menu that appears select Group Selected Clips
    • All the clips will now be "stuck" together and can be manipulated as one unit

    Nat

  19. Hi

    Bit unusual..

What did you censor and was it in the centre of the project and did it appear in the same place in all clips or just one clip?

Did you apply the censor effect to all  the clips in error?

During the editing stage did you by chance create a sequence of your project and then drop this back on the timeline before you added the censor effect? If you did you have inadvertantly added the effect to the whole project. As Borate notes, there is a choice of censor types and shapes and you can monitor the position of censor block and even add movement with keyframes.
