  1. Hi

Lot of clips there. (8hrs to download after zipping!) Nevertheless similar result to Borate. If you cleared the cache every time you finish  a period of work, the reloading of this size of project when you start again is often MUCH longer and might be the reason audio files hold things up. Unfortunately VP doesn't show a processing bar for the audio. The best suggestion when a project is so large is to load and edit a smaller number of clips completely (Yours seem to be chronological which helps) and then export the result. Clear the cache and then work on the next section of clips and export these etc. When finished you can clear the cache and reload all your exported clips Put them in order  on the timeline and export the lot as the final project.

  2. Hi

If it's a matter of a font that you don't have on your PC, import it. Try here...    https://www.1001freefonts.com/

Download and place it in your PC Windows/Font folder. It should then appear in the list available to VP.

  3. Hi

An alternative that doesn't require a split..

    • Add the clip to the timeline
    • Right click the Audio track. It will appear in the Clip preview screen.
    • Play the audio in Clip Preview screen to the start of amplification.
    • Click the blue line where the cursor crosses it. This will produce a marker.
    • Grab the line just to the right of the marker and drag the blue line up. This produces a second marker
    • Click the blue line at the end of the amplification section. This sets a third marker
    • Grab the line to right of this marker and drag it down to the original level.

It will now look a bit like this..

    zz.jpg

The audio track will also show the audio line. You can now play the clip and alter the marker points by dragging them higher or lower to alter the in/out effect.

  4. HI

Might have been better to start a new topic.  -_- By "layer" I presume you mean a Track?

However your problem doesn't seem to occur here with VP 10.17 (Example steps)

    • First set up Dual Displays in Options/Display/Dual Previews
    • Place a clip on timeline and move it to Video Track 2
    • Click FX  for the clip and select Add effect mask. Mask appears in Clip Preview image as a red rectangle
    • Drag the mask edges and points to create the desired shape. i.e. Roughly around the cat
    • As this is going to be either a "hole" in the clip or an isolated "object" from the clip select  or leave the Mask inside box e.g. for an object leave the box unticked.
    • Click the green + and add a Transparency effect making it 100%. You now have your "object" on a transparent background......Here is the rough mask...
    • zz.jpg
    • Now place a background clip on Video track 1  The Sequence preview image (right) shows the combined effect at the cursor position........
    • zzz.jpg
    •
    • Now.... If I want to adjust the mask shape...
    •
    • Click the FX for the masked  clip (Track 2)
    • The masked clip appears in the Clip Preview  window (left) and the result in the  Sequence preview at the cursor position (right) and the mask can be altered  e.g. turned into a star and the effect can be monitored in the sequence preview....
    • zzzz.jpg

Nothing disappears as you are monitoring the mask in the top clip and this appears on the left..the CLIP preview. If you want to see the background either inside the mask (hole) or around the mask (object) you must set up Dual Preview Displays (as here) in Options Display.

  5. HI fendbas

    Check........

Does your text have a transparent background? This must be the case if you want the clip on  Track 1 to show through. On the track the text should have a chequered appearance....

    zz.jpg

Place the red cursor line so it passes through both tracks. The preview screen should show the text superimposed..

    zzz.jpg

If the text has a black background (or any other color) then it will obscure the underlying track and produce the effect you describe. You probably have the text editor set to Full Background.

Check that the box is set to Editor Background

  6. Hi

The advice still stands..So that you always have a copy of your project that you can go back to in the event that edits don't work or you muck things up, save your project regularly. Use the option Save Project File As  ...

    zz.jpg

Give it a unique name or number and you can reload that specific save and re-open your work at that point.  Save Project File As does not overwrite a previous save. You can also undo something that messes things up by clicking the blue back arrow on the top tool bar.

As Borate mentions, keep texts on an upper track as far as possible and they can be moved without disturbing lower tracks. Remember you can groups clips to keep them together and also lock tracks to stop them moving.

  7. Hi

As an example on how to use one of the Intro templates...

    • Load a short project
    • Click the Video Maker tab. (This may be labelled differently now)
    • zz.jpg
    • Select the template you require from the list shown
    • Enter (change) the text to your own along with its characteristics.
    • Click Next and add music to your intro, either your own or use something from the stock library
    • Click Next and record some narration if required..
    • Otherwise click Create. Main screen will reappear with your template inserted at start.

  8. Hi

AFAIK The fps stays the same but VP slow motion increases the number of frames by duplicating the existing ones. For example if frames at the original speed are ABCDEFG , in the 50% slow motion they would be AABBCCDDEEFFGG. Intermediate speeds would vary the duplication like AABCCDEEFGG etc.

The preview will still be shown 30fps. Stepping through frame by frame and you would see the duplication.  You can set the fps of the export to virtually any value but this doesn't alter the speed at which the clip runs. This has been useful for some users who want to get an export of frames taken at equal intervals along a clip........a stop motion effect.

  9. Hi

What I seem to have produced above is a false 3d image, an Anaglyph that is not true spacial 3d.(The original was flat i.e. at screen level) Try looking at it with red/cyan anaglyph specs and you should see what I mean. It's in front of the screen. I think a chromatic aberration effect along the lines I mentioned above will need a lot more playing with. VP does have a 3d (red/cyan) export choice but uses a fixed image separation which is often not particularly good as it is so small. This one using Red/Green/Blue etc. allows a greater separation between the Red/Cyan images as it uses Position to move the red image a variable distance to the right. But it's not a Chromatic Abberration simulation as this requires green/purple halos Scaling the different colored images to very slightly different sizes might look a bit more convincing but I think you will need to play with it a bit.

  10. Hi

To remove all colors apart from red ..

    • Load the clip
    • zz.jpg
    • Click the FX box on the timeline.
    • Choose the Color Curves effect.
    • Click the RGB box down chevron and select Green from the list
    • Grab the top right end of the diagonal line (you will get a small orange circle) and drag it vertically down to the bottom. i.e. Make the line horizontal. This will remove all Green from the image leaving just the Red and Blue components....
    • zzz.jpg
    • Click the down chevron again and select Blue.
    • As before, grab the top right end of the diagonal line (you will get a small orange circle )and drag it vertically down to the bottom. This will now emove all Blue from the image leaving just the Red component which is what you are aiming for I think....
    • zzzz.jpg

As Borate notes there is no Chromatic Abberation effect in VP but with a bit of fiddling you may be able to use the color curves effect on three identical clips copied above one another (Red/Green/Blue) combined with Position/Transparency/Color Curve (applied in that order) to possibly produce something similar but I am doubtful that it will look right. The problem here (I think) is that you can't add images together by the addition or subtraction of colors as you can in some graphic packages.  (I used both 3D and colour abberated images in Astronomy talks and these were made using a graphics program.) I may be wrong in respect of VPs capabilities however.  Here is the top full moon image "played with"......Not that convincing.......

  11. Hi

Using VP 10.17 and I think earlier versions, the bright  parts of a png will glow... left original glow=0  Right glow =100%

    zz.jpg  zzz.jpg

The same thing happens with any image not necessarily a png.  I can't pick up your image so I am not sure what you mean by "graphic"

  12. Hi

If you are referring to Background Opacity in the title editor, this applies to the Text Backgound option or the Full Background option in the Text editor. It has no effect on the any background image or clip placed on the track below the text track...This works OK here with VP version 10.17 (32bit)  e.g. with Text background set to Black... and 100% Opacity...and 50% Opacity

  13. Hi

"....I have used 3 versions of videopad in the past few weeks, in all of them, a curved x appears when I click the scissors...that is how I edited the first 8 mins of this video...say on 13 mins, if I click scissors, the curved x immediately appears again to tell me I have split the video..."

That is normal.    If you use the scissors icon associated with the release of the red cursor line the clip is split at the cursor. This being so and no matter the degree of timeline zoom the transition X will appear at the join lined up on the cursor line.

    zzz.jpg

This is because you now have two clips which you can transition. The same thing will happen if you use the Split button (scissors) under the sequence preview screen.(This gives choices of tracks) Can't think why you have an "inactive" area where splits are required but can't apparently be made.

Have you tried just moving the timeline left or right or clicking the timing bar at a different place (not dragging the cursor line) and then the head (top block) of the cursor line to get the scissors.

    Nat

Later....Downloaded your project. With VP 10.17 (32) I had no problems at all in splitting and deleting multiple and individual sections both  with Delete /Close gap  and Delete(ripple) or using either of the Split icons. The methods worked at various points along the timeline. Couldn't find a place where it wouldn't work.....

Something to try...Save Project As before trying this.... Convert the project that you have so far edited as a sequence. Click the + that follows Sequence 1 x at the left end of the timeline.and then reload this back to the timeline. Can you now split etc as normal?

  14. Hi

Simplest (most intuitive) way of removing a section of your project..

    • Drag red cursor line to the beginning of the section to remove.
    • Click the scissor icon (Split)
    • aa.jpg
    • Drag the red cursor line to the end of the section you want to remove
    • Click the scissor icon (Split)
    • Right click the section (or sections)  between the two splits
    • Select Delete(Ripple) from the menu.
    • The unwanted section will be removed and the gaps closed up.

  15. Hi

The Tutorial vids are mostly produced some time ago using an earlier versions of VP (eg v6.xx) and whereas most of the instructions are still OK, more recent versions of VP may use or have different controls. I suppose that keeping these vids up to date is quite difficult. If you are have any sort of difficulty however or want to know how something might be done  explain on the forum and someone will help out.

  16. Hi

Text fade in should work by clicking the f  at the start of the clip and then entering the desired duration of the effect. (There is also Fade-in effect to be found by clicking the FX box at the start of the clip)  Whichever method is used the fade-in should be indicated by the presence of the the Blue bar above the start of the text clip on the timeline....

    aa.jpg

Are you seeing this?  Is there a blue bar? Obviously the fade must not be longer than the duration of the actual text clip. Is the problem with the exported file?

Everything works OK here  with VP 10.02 (32 bit)

What are your save parameters and what version of VP are you using?

  17. Hi

You can set the export bitrate in the Export File Settings window.

Set the File Format  (mp4) and then click the option to the right in blue (Default Quality/File Size.) This brings up the mp4 Encoding Settings.

Click the VideoQuality/Bitrate option down chevron and select the required bitrate from the drop down list.

  18. Hi

You can't fade to black and still have the lower track visible.and it's not a bug. A Fade out is usual for any text as the background is transparent and the lower tracks are not affected. They would be visible throughout. The text just fades away.

Fading to "black"means that there must be a black clip to fade to if the text remains on a transparent background. This black clip will naturally obscure the underlying track.

It would be possible to set your text editor to Full background (black) and then use the Fade through black effect, The text would fade to black and then cut to the lower track.

Alternatively set the text on its normal transparent background (when the lower track will be visible) and then add the Fade thru black effect. This is probably the closest you will get, but fading text to black MUST affect the visibility of the lower track.

  19. Hi

Depending on the clip content you could also try splitting it as far from the end as possible...say just after they have finished talking and then right clicking on the split off end section and selecting to change the clip speed. (i.e. duration.) This should allow a bit more clip to use for and end transition. Note that the sound on the altered section may need to be re-dubbed or a section copied from earlier in the clip and put in to replace the altered section. Alternatively do the spllt and then unlink the sound. It won't then be affected by the speed change and can be used to make the copy

  20. Hi

    • Place the background clip on Video Track 1
    • Place the PIP clip/image in Video Track 2 above the background clip
    • Add the Border effect to the PIP clip/image
    • Add the Scale effect to the PIP clip/image
    • Add the Position effect to the PIP image

    Result....

    aa.jpg

Note that the border remains the same relative width.

  21. Hi

There is certainly a light click at the word "drink" but does this actually coincide with a split in the video since it doesn't appear that the clip has actually been split?

I have tried to reproduce this with VP 10.02 using specific audio tracks of voice (not music) without seeing this. Splits to the audio played over without any click. Try splitting a "silent" part of a similar audio of your own and see if you get a click.

Removing a section of the audio track and closing the gap also didn't produce a click. I got a similar result with a full audio linked clip.

It might be helpful if you could separate a length of your project containing the problem and upload it to a free server like drop box etc so someone can take a look. It doesn't need to be all the project, just a section that you have checked contains the click.
