  1. 1.: It was on the beta version website https://www.nchsoftware.com/beta/ . The headline was "VideoPad Version 7.01 for windows", the installer shows 7.00 for me as well. 2.: No idea. The obvious fact is, that videopad "thinks", all given names are already occupied by its own presets. In my opinion, there must be a little bug somewhere in the name validation. 3.: It was just a guess - I thought it might be worth a try to skip the name validation. I found the location by the error message. It seems my guess was quite right 😉 .
  2. Finally I "solved" the problem. I found the program location, where the error message is thrown. I slightly changed the code at this location and now it works! See this screenshot: VideoPad 7.01 Equalizer Fix I also could locate, where the preset is saved to, it is in the windows registry: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NCH Software\VideoPad\EffectPresets\Equalizer] "PresetCount"="1" "0"="MyTestPreset" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NCH Software\VideoPad\EffectPresets\Equalizer\MyTestPreset] "EQDisplay"="0" "PointsX_Count"="6" "PointsX_0"="10036" "PointsX_1"="359411" "PointsX_2"="5605882" "PointsX_3"="5605882" "PointsX_4"="13882352" "PointsX_5"="20000000" "PointsY_Count"="6" "PointsY_0"="0" "PointsY_1"="-31000" "PointsY_2"="-14000" "PointsY_3"="19000" "PointsY_4"="-10000" "PointsY_5"="0" So what does that all mean? In my opinion, there must be a bug in videopad, because everything works well with my fix. The error message is thrown under certain circumstances (I can't tell which), but it must be wrong, because as you can see, it works by just skipping the error message...
  3. To pinpoint and solve my problem, I need your help please! I guess, something might be wrong with the paths of my videopad version, that's why I ask you to do me this favour: Save any equalizer preset and then please search for the file, where it is saved to (maybe even in the registry?). If you can find it, please tell me the path and the file name of it. Many thanks for your help!
  4. Well... it's the german word for error - and I have a german windows version 😉 .
  5. Can anybody confirm my problem? (Can't save equalizer presets)
  6. This happens, if I try to save my equalizer graph: Screenshot
  7. I just discovered a problem using VideoPad version 7.01 beta: 1. Put two random video clips into the timeline. 2. Drag and drop any image between the video clips 3. Drag and drop any image between image #1 and video clip #2 4. Click on image #1 (on the timeline) 5. Go to the clip preview and enter another length for image #1 6. If you enter a lower value, you get an gap between image #2 and video clip #2 (that's not really bad) - but if you enter a higher value, image #2 moves under video clip #2. So you have an overlay on the same video track and can't see image #2 any more on the timeline. You have to drag video clip #2 to another video track to be able to see image #2 again.
  8. I discovered the following two problems with the audio effect "equalizer" (VideoPad version 7.01 beta): 1. Put any video clip into the timeline 2. Click on "FX" (audio track) and add "Equalizer" 3. Configure the equalizer, and change the graph (don't leave it flat). 4. Problem #1: Try to "Save Preset" - no matter which name you enter, you always get the error "You are not allowed to have a user preset name {your name} same as VideoPad's given preset name". You can't save it. 5. Continue with "Apply" 6. Now split the video clip (e.g. using key "l") into two clips 7. Click on "FX" (audio track) of the second clip and then on "Configue Equalizer". 8. Problem #2: The graph is flat! Splitting the clip seems to reset the graph for the second half of the clip. Can you confirm these problems?
  9. That's one thing I really love about VideoPad - its very low size. Other software often has several GBs and still is not as good as VideoPad. Well done @ developers :-) !
  10. I just discovered a problem using V6.24 and V6.28 beta of videopad concerning the video cache of the sequence preview (export works well). Example: Drag any mp4 video clip A to video track 1 of the timeline. Now drag another mp4 video clip B to video track 2 of the timeline, "on top" of video A (video B must be shorter than video A). Preview the video - everything is ok. Now click at the end marker of video B and drag it to the left, make it a little bit shorter. Start the preview again - it's exactly the same as before, the cache probably doesn't update and therefore still shows the whole clip B. Note: If you change the preview frame rate in the options or if you move video B from video track 2 to video track 3, the cache seems to update. After that, the preview is correct.
  11. I can confirm the problem (using V6.24 and V6.28 beta). It's easy to reproduce the problem, you don't need a saved project. Example: Just drag any image A to video track 1 of the timeline. Set the length of it to 30 seconds. Now drag another image B to video track 2 of the timeline, somewhere in the middle of the first image, e.g. starting position 10 seconds. Set its length to 5 seconds, click on the fade in icon and set it to 0.5 seconds or another value less than 1 second. Now click play and you will notice that image B is blending in, but after maybe 0.4 seconds videopad switches back to image A (100% visible, no transparency) for at least one frame and after that it switches back to image B and continues the blending. You also can see it in the exported video. Note: Fading time values of 1 second or more work well.
  12. I just tested beta version 6.27 and exported a video. It all worked well, but the file size of the video was way too big. First I thought I made a mistake in the export settings, but a second test showed the same result. It seemed, videopad ignored the given video bitrate. My export settings: - Preset:Custom - File Format: MP4 - MP4 Encoding settings: Compressor H264, Video Quality/Bitrate 6000 kbps, Lossless Export Off (Re-encode Video), Audio Compressor AAC, Preferred Channel Numbers Same as input, Audio Quality/Bitrate 160 kbps - Resolution: 1920 x 1080 - 1080p HD - Frame rate: Constant 60 fps The result: I checked the details of the file properties (windows explorer) and it showed a data rate of more than 50000 kBit/s! So Videopad really ignored my settings.
  13. Same here... I'm not sure, but I think the bitrate sometimes is set to 24kbs, if you change other export settings like the filename or the frame rate. Unfortunately I don't know a solution.
  14. If your window is too small, the snapshot button is not visible. Click on the >> button ... see below:
  15. Just install them in your Windows operating system - after that you can select them in videopad.
  16. I just downloaded your original mp4 and made a losless export. The export file is slighty smaller (losless file: 42067995 bytes, original 42068111 bytes), the frame rate and the bitrates for video and audio are identical (Videopad version 6.02 beta).
  17. Unfortunately it has nothing to do with the cache. Even after I let VP do all its caching and the cpu has enough free time, I have the buffering problem as described above.
  18. I have the same problem, powerful computer, but I always get "buffering" while previewing (the more clips, the worse). Changing the preview resolution or the fps doesn't help. The preview also gets stuck nearly after every clip/scene. And once the preview is running, I often can't stop it anymore - the video is stuck, sound is still playing, but videopad does not respond to any interactions. Sometimes I have to wait until the whole sequence is over, before I can continue working with videopad. However, I think I know the reason for that. If I change the preview fps to any value, the preview doesn't get stuck after one clip (no buffering) - unfortunately for a few seconds only. I'm pretty sure, it has something to do with the background queues (videopad is always working in the background). These background processes obviously are so demanding, that the preview doesn't have enough CPU time to work correctly. Unfortunately there is no way to stop these background processes...
