  1. If it is version 13.x , it might be a bug (I already reported it to NCH Software). Look at my screenshot https://imgbox.com/z9OSv9Gw , maybe you have the same problem. The only thing you can do is to close your project and clear the unused cache files. Unfortunately the problem appears again very fast.
  2. You can download old versions here: http://oldversiondownload.com
  3. If you want a square video, try this: https://imgbox.com/5FRMkQgr First image: Change preview to 1:1, so that you can see what you will get Second image: Set resolution to any 1:1 format, when exporting video
  4. You're right, GPU processor setting makes a big differences for building the preview (since the latest version), it works much better using my graphic card instead of the CPU. I only have to switch it back to "None (CPU only)" for rendering, because using my old graphic card leads to flickering and other problems sometimes. That's why my setting was CPU only by default. However, that's not the fault of videopad but my old card. Thanks for the advice, now I'm quite happy with it 🙂 .
  5. Unfortunately not, I tested all betas from 13.08 - 13.12. Version 10.43 still is way faster building the preview, even for small projects (only one clip, <1 minute, 4k resolution, 30fps, mp4/x264). Example: If I add a zoom effect, the preview building blocks videopad v13.xx completely, I can't even change the cut-out during the building (videopad does not even react on mouse clicks / dragging). With version 10.43, prewiew building is faster and I can continue working (e.g. change the cut-out). 😞
  6. I had trouble with some of the 11.x versions, too. Since version 12, major improvements were made (at least, that's what I experienced).
  7. Then I suggest to try the newest version (see here: https://www.nchsoftware.com/videopad/index.html )... maybe it's a problem of version 11.80?
  8. If you have version 12.x or 13.x, it may help to change the GPU video processor. Go to menu "Options", then "Advanced". Try changing the "GPU Video Processor" to "None (CPU only)". Rendering might be slower with that setting, but if the transition is correct, it's worth the time.
  9. Add the first mask (video effects, small plus icon "Add effect mask") and then the desired video effect on top, e.g. blur. The blur effect will only be visible within the first mask. Then add mask #2 (click the small plus icon again) and add another effect #2. Like before, effect #2 will only be visible in mask #2. You can repeat this as often as you need it.
  11. Five reinstalls? Ok, you're right, I don't have the patience for that 🤣🤣🤣 !
  12. I tried that before... it didn't work for me 😞. No hard feelings, I know you said this many times before ("slight variability in features"), but installing the same version over and over never changed anything for me (concerning other problems), I don't know why. That's why I was searching for a reliable solution.
  13. Version 13.x has a nice feature called "super resolution upscaling". You can select it in the export file settings (see this screenshot: https://imgbox.com/tudCjDXz ). I tried to check it out and installed an older videopad version, just to have to a comparison. Suddenly the checkbox for super resolution upscaling was gone in the export settings (in version 13.x)! Luckily I found the reason for it, the old videopad version changed the windows registry! To turn on super resolution upscaling again, you have to change the "SVar" value (see registry screenshot below). Among other data, you'll find a four-letter word there, either "Puxd" or "Puxp". "Puxd" means super resolution is available, "Puxp" means it's turned off. So just change "Puxp" to "Puxd". If both words are missing, super resolution also is off. In this case, add the word "Puxd" to the SVar data. Here is the screenshot of the registry settings: https://imgbox.com/QxIxAiYb I hope this will be helpful in one form or another 🙂 .
  14. Thank you very much for your effort... I didn't use HEVC video clips, because my old notebook is too slow for that and my graphics card doesn't support it (so I use mp4/h264). Maybe version 13 can be improved - I hope so.
  15. I still have the old version 10.43 of videopad installed, because it's fast and stable (except for some minor bugs). That's why I use it for big projects. For small projects, I use various newer versions of videopad, e.g. v12.39 and all 13.x versions, so I can test them without any risks. Because I'm using various versions, I noticed a really big speed difference in building previews (=in the timeline, the green bar above the video clip, that builds up from the left to the right): Version 10.43 is way faster than all versions 12 or 13! To be sure I started a benchmark test, this is my test setup: 1. For versions 12 and 13, select any option in the menu Options->Advanced->GPU Video Processor. Restart videopad, so that changes can take effect (whatever you select, it's still slower than version 10.43). 2. Click "Clear Unused Cache Files" in the menu Options->Disk->Cache - just to be sure, that the cache can't affect the speed. 3. Put any video clip into the timeline (I tried several different resolutions, same result) 4. Add these three video effects (probably also works with another number or other effects), from top to bottom of the effect window: - Zoom: Aspect Ratio 1:1 (something that is different to the video clip), default Left/Top/Right/Bottom settings. - Temperature: Default value (64) - Saturation: Default value (25) 5. While setting up the effects, building preview already starts. To start the building over, I just set any keyframe in the effect window, then I started the stopwatch to get a precise result. 6. I waited until the green bar above the video clip (in the timeline) is complete. Then I stopped the watch. The results were very clear: Example 1: For a 31 second 4k clip, version 10.43 took only 1 minute and 32 seconds. Version 13.06 took between 2:50 and 3:50, depending on the GPU processor settings. That means, version 10.43 was about two times faster. Example 2: For a 44 second 1440x1080p clip, version 10.43 took only 32 seconds. Version 13.06 took between 1:18 and 2:04, depending on the GPU processor settings. Version 10.43 was about 2.5 times faster. These results sure depend on your hardware, I have quite an old notebook (Windows 10 64bit, Intel Core i7-4700MQ 2.4GHz, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M + Intel HD Graphics 4600). Nevertheless it's obvious, that videopad versions 12 and 13 got slower. I wouldn't mention this, but while the preview is building up, I can't really continue working on my (big) project, everything is extremely slow, especially I can't play the preview and check the video, it's just hanging or stuttering until the building process has finished. Unfortunately this process starts from the beginning, if I set any keyframe in the effect window. Sometimes I want to zoom to a certain small section of the clip and follow it, so I have to set a lot of keyframes, if the section is moving inside the whole clip. That means, I have to wait very long - or use good old version 10.43... What are your experiences? Can you confirm my test results?
  16. The only thing you can do is to check/uncheck "Keep audio pitch unchanged" if you change the clip speed. As far as I know, you neither can turn off the auto sync nor the yellow bar. What exactly happens with your video ("It messes up my vids")?
  17. Mark all clips = CTRL + A . If you right click on a clip, you can now group all clips ("group selected clips"). To close the gap (for all tracks), you can right-click into the gap and select "close gap in sequence" (see the difference to the other option "close gap in track"). I hope this helps 🙂
  18. Afaik, you can't use GPU with version 7. Only the current version 12.x has this feature.
  19. @storm : Same problem here, and even worse, the exported video is flickering green. I already sent a bug report with a demo project to NCH. This bug occurs since version 11.x, that's why I still use v10.43 (even though this version also has some minor bugs).
  20. Hallo, hier findest du alle Versionen von Videopad: http://oldversiondownload.com/ Dort findest du sicher auch die passende Version für dich 🙂 !
  21. Edit your saved .vpj file and change the line "version=12" to "version=11". After that you can load it. Remember: Newer versions might have features that won't work with old versions, so you might lose some effects.
  22. Since version 11.64, there are some issues with fade points. Ok, this has nothing to do with your problem, but maybe there are some more audio issues since this version. So it might help to install an older version (e,g, 11.63), just give it a try. Here you can download all versions: http://oldversiondownload.com/ (Personally, I still work with version 10.43)
  23. This is (always) the current 64bit version: https://www.nchsoftware.com/download/videopadsetup64.exe Here is version 11.64: http://www.oldversiondownload.com/oldversions/videopad-11-64-2022-06-02-64bitpaid.exe
  24. I can confirm this issue (since version 11.64). It's still present in beta 11.69. The 64bit version 11.64 works though. You can download another version here: http://oldversiondownload.com/
  25. I know Videopad was able to scan for beat marks and it should still be able to do that (according to http://help.nchsoftware.com/help/en/videopad/win/beat_detection.html ). I didn't use this feature for some time and today I realized, it's gone! When I right-click on a soundtrack on the timeline, there is no option "Show beat lines in waveform" or "Scan for beat marks", even though the audio is classified as music. Any idea? (I'm using videopad 10.43 and 10.96, I even reinstalled it, no change)
