  1. If the clip is first on the track, or comes after a track break, the can be used to fade in. The can be used to fade out, cross fade,. Or open the effects dialog by clicking on the FX button or on EFFECTS in the menu bar and choose TRANSPARENCY. Plot an animation that begins with a keyframe at zero, quickly rises to 100% with the 2nd keyframe, then does the opposite at the clip end. For more on animation see... http://help.nchsoftware.com/help/en/videopad/win/effects_animating.html
  2. Don't believe that's possible. UNDO <ctrl-Z> is step-by-step, of course. You might be able to split out a portion of the clip, then insert new material... Save Project AS routinely, giving it a unique name or #, so as to not overwrite earlier saves. Don't use Save Project, which will overwrite. Then you will be protected in the future.
  3. Weirdness. Your image is the way VP reads it, but t'aint so. Look at the source file in another viewer or MediaInfo.
  4. What Videopad version is being used? Here's the latest. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Please share a PORTABLE project (not the export) by uploading it to a free server, getting a shareable link and posting it here or in a private message. Someone will check it out. The portable folder contains all source files + the VPJ control file,, so others can run the project just as you see it on the timeline. Just follow the instructions here... http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/23659-tips-for-getting-help-on-this-forum/ If it contains sensitive material link it in a personal message (PM). Click the envelope above. It won't be passed on or retained. Use FILE|SAVE PORTABLE PROJECT AS, not simply SAVE PROJECT, and don't forget to get a shareable link to post.
  5. Take a gander at clip properties. Though it looks to be 9:16, it's actually 16:9. Therein, the rub.
  6. The A/R of the overlay video appears to be causing the issue. In the bin (top-left) CROP it at 9:16. Then drop it onto the timeline and do not add any effects. Alternatively, on the sequence clip, go to the effects Aspect Ratio Transforms section, click LETTERBOX. Takes care of it here.
  7. Share the project, as instructed above, and we'll take a look. Look at the icons at the left of the track and verify that no track is soloed or hidden.
  8. Share your project and someone will check it out. It's easy, quick and can be private. Just follow the PORTABLE PROJECT instructions here... Here's how... http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/23659-tips-for-getting-help-on-this-forum/ and don't forget to get a shareable link to post.
  9. What version of Videopad is being used? Links to screen grab images can be posted easily here. Here's how... http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/23659-tips-for-getting-help-on-this-forum/ Blur should be on track one, with the overlay on track two. Higher tracks take precedence over lower tracks.
  10. Sounds good. But what about creating a split on the timeline at the desired point? That seemed to achieve the desired result here...
  11. For non-monetized home usage, apparently. Possible further insight via this route.
  12. In what way are you attempting to load the videos? Are these files, or a wire transfer?
  13. When you see "download for free" it often means a trial version. NCH is more liberal in that regard than some other companies - 'free' trials can be used forever. You don't have to pay but there are limitations. Usually the AVI export format works. Try AVI as a VIDEO file, then instead of using Videopad's direct YouTube uploader, use the YT uploader to process that file. I f companies gave away their technology they wouldn't last long, and you would have no software to play with.😘 If AVI is locked out, try an install of this Videopad version. Be sure to SAVE PROJECT AS regularly, not just SAVE PROJECT, so old saves are not overwritten. You won't lose a thing. VPJ is not a playable export format; it's the control file for Videopad. When a project is saved, it creates that file. Double-click the file in the future and the project will be reloaded - as long as the source files have not been moved or deleted. Worse case scenario, if you cannot export your work, someone here will do it for you. Share the project, per these portable project instructions... Here's how... http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/23659-tips-for-getting-help-on-this-forum/ If it contains sensitive material link it in a personal message (PM). Click the envelope above. 14. An NCH representative has posted this in the past... "The free versions of our programs are meant for home use. If you're going to monetize your videos, please purchase the Master's Edition."
  15. One of many options now available. Keeping the same aspect ratio for all content is wise, if not always possible.
  16. Unable to replicate your result here. What version of Videopad is being used. Here is the latest. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Overlaid and positioned text onto a 31KB image and exported at 900 x 506, leaving the Letterbox A/R choice unchanged. The text position on the Mp4 result (right) was identical to the preview (left). Upload and share your image and someone will double-check it. Or share the PORTABLE project, so an export can be tested. Here's how... http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/23659-tips-for-getting-help-on-this-forum/
  17. Functionality has been improved since the 6x series, but the architecture works a bit differently. While previewing a clip, right-click the preview screen and set Widescreen A/R Fit to Letterbox. On the cut-off clips, open effects and try applying one of the three choices in the Aspect Ratio Transforms section. Letterbox is the likely choice. In export leave the A/R settings as suggested. If this does not achieve the desired result, share the project and someone will come up with a solution. It's easy, takes but minutes and can be private. Here's how... http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/23659-tips-for-getting-help-on-this-forum/ If it contains sensitive material link it in a personal message (PM). Click the envelope above. It won't be passed on or retained. Use FILE|SAVE PORTABLE PROJECT AS, not simply SAVE PROJECT, and don't forget to get a shareable link to post.
  18. If the effects window is open for positioning text there is a VIEW button under the preview window. Click the chevron at the right and choose Clip + Background or Sequence. Export resolution may alter placement in certain instances. What is the resolution of the source file and what are the export settings?
  19. To include a screen shot here see http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/23659-tips-for-getting-help-on-this-forum/ Reflecting gain adjustments on the waveform has been requested. VP will show those changes if WavePad is used to edit audio. Often, a right-click on an audio track will have a EDIT IN WAVEPAD choice. That opens WP. When editing is complete, closing WP automatically replaces the track in Videopad. Of course, this can also be done manually. To display more of an audio track, click the chevron at its far left, so it points downward... Drag the white bar on horizontal line that splits the preview screen from the sequence up... Do the same for the white bar on the line that splits video from audio tracks...
  20. Both links lead to a VPJ file. As noted earlier, what's required is the entire contents of the portable project folder, which contains all source files + the VPJ. Upload THAT and someone will be glad to check things out. As an alternative, essentially the same but not preferable, upload the full contents of the folder on your PC that contains all source files and the VPJ.
  21. What version is being used? What is the resolution of the bulk of the clips and how long is the project? The best way to track this down is to see it just as you do. Not the export, but the PORTABLE project. Please share it as instructed in the link. It's easy, quick and can be private.

    Locking tracks

In a test using version 8.45 with a linked multi-track project, none of what you describe occurred. No video or audio track was disturbed. No gaps. Narration clips were automatically placed onto a new audio track at the timeline position where they were recorded . You can lock tracks by right-clicking to their left and LOCK TRACK.

    Locking tracks

    No. Narration is independent.
  24. Along with Nat's good words, be aware that each Videopad release has several versions that install slightly different features. You may be using the one that snaps back, instead of leaving a gap. If that's the issue, hold down the <alt> key when moving/deleting items. Or, reinstall the program repeatedly (may take several tries) until the gap behavior appears. No need to download again. To keep tracks other than the one you're working with from moving, lock them. Right-click in the area to the left of the track and LOCK TRACK.
