try to find your original wavpad install file where you had the option
do you recall what number that was?
I contacted them, and they don't even save any of the old versions....ugggghhhhh
these folks don't think like us.
if you find your old version, try to make it available, I'm sure there are others who
prefer options to their recordings

I have a 20 minute recording of a voice. Some of the voices are too faint to hear and during much of the recording there is background music which makes it very difficult to hear the voice. I have tried to use the WavePad software to clean up and enhance the recording but frankly I don't know what I am doing. Is there someone out there who can clean up the recording so I can hear the voices? I would be willing to pay a fair amount to someone who can do this. Thanks
try the cia
I'd love to see something mainstream that did that
I think that most of that is quite secret...off the beaten path
or at least at a sound engineers forum, not likely you'll find anything here....
-
I recorded a lecture on my voice recorder and I would like to clean it up with this software.
Besides noise reduction, what else can I do to make the quality of the audio sound as best as possible?
The file is saved as WAV.
I record talk shows and I found thar using the automatic gain and the compression effects work pretty well
if the volume is still too low, I'll amp it up slowly...like@111%
But if there is still other noise on there, I rely on other software to help with that
-
Not necessarily. To read a format and to encode within it are two different things. The easiest way to ensure you have all the most commonly used codecs (in all their permutations - for example, WMA itself is comprised of more than one 'type') is to use a codec pack...
...such as Vista Codec Pack.
thanks for that codec link
I'm dl 'ing it now...

"" I was wondering if I play any sound through my computer will this be inserted into the sound file? ""
I'm not sure I'm following your question, could you elaborate a bit more?
-
don't khold your breath waiting for an answer.
and I never usae auto trim, I just do it by hand...less mistakes
p.s.
if you haven't done so,
change your working folder location..or rename it to a different partition
under;
file
wavepad options;
audio processing;
audio working folder;
clik that button, then name your own folder and partition C: or D:
I only say do that because it's possible that the cause of the anomalie, is a corrupted default folder
mine was, I did as shown above, and now all is well.
goodluck

I CHANGED THE VOICES WITH ONE OF THE FREE TRIAL SOFTWARES, AND DONT REMEMBER WHAT I DID. THE SOFTWARE WAS ONE THAT IS NOT AVAILABLE I THINK, BECAUSE I DONT SEE THE SCREEN SHOTS IT HAD. BUT I NEED TO CHANGE MY VOICES BACK TO HOW THEY USE TO SOUND. EVERYTIME I PLAY A CD OR LISTEN TO A VIDEO THE VOICES ARE DIFFERENT, FOR EXAMPLE :A GUYS VOICE MIGHT SOUND LIKE A GIRL, AND GIRLS SOUND LIKE CHIPMUNKS
PLEASE HELP
other than UNDO or finding the original file
your only option may be to change the pitch
effects
speed and pitch change
try 50% and go up or down from there
50% means it'll play at half speed
I found that this happened to my files too!
you may have an original DEFAULT folder that is corrupted
under;
file
wavepad options;
audio processing;
audio working folder;
clik that button, then name your own folder and partition C: or D: [ D:WavePad-working folder ]
once I created my own named folder under a different partition, my anomalies disappeared !!!
goodluck

what are the requirements for the file in flash?
there may be something in the header bar
that is confusing flash!
try opening the file in notepad or wordpad...be patient, it may take a while to open
then look for clues at the top section that may be throwing off flash
when you scroll down [ after it opens in notepad ] you'll see the body of the wav file is
just special character gibberish, hence my comment to look for clues in the top section.
don't change ANYTHING in the lower section, that's the music/audio in code
good luck

Hello all,
after no reply to my question, how to recover huge .aud/.grf files, does someone knows a good recording software for Windows XP that supports voice activated recording to a common file format (like .wav or .mp3)? I need the opportunity to use the files even if the computer or software crashes during the meeting.
I (my customers) need the certainty not to loose any recorded data, because most of my customers are lawyers and taxadvisors with important requirements for proof. The tool should also be easy to use (record start, save ...). Price is minor matter for once :-)
Best regards,
Steffen
I wouldn't trust software to completely hold up.
I've had too many screw up to trust the software completely, especially using vista, which I despise...
you may need a portable recorder that has a usb connector to then share files with others if necessary
goodluck
-
sorry, I didn't answer the question
yes, wavepad works on vista, I'm using it as we speak!!!
just be sure to name your own working folder
under;
file
wavepad options;
audio processing;
audio working folder;
clik that button, then name your own folder and partition C: or D:
as for recording
nothing I've tried, will record on vista, even the on board recorder that comes with the home premium!!!
I've dug pretty deep to find out why not, and I still don't know
the controls are different here than on XP
and it's frustrating

You know, I thought this was a forum for HELP!!!! I didn't ask a question to be critisized. I am not looking for something FREE I explained that. I downloaded this FREE program knowing that it was only good for 30 days. I planned on buying it whether you think that or not I could care less. I don't need your insults here, I only asked a question to see if someone could answer why these programs were so different. If you are this miserable, why don't you go help someone in need, it will make you feel better. I would appreciate an answer from someone who generally wants to help and not from someone who has nothing better to do than to moan and groan.
" On the other hand I like the way wave pad compresses music files however so if there is another program out there that does this I would like to know about it."
nope,
that's why I like it too
I use the automatic gain control and the compression, it works pretty well.
as for why they are not clear about what product does what, and the mix n match thing.
I dunno, probably just marketing.

Get them here
copy them all to a folder and keep them
so if like me, you're away from the internet and need to use wavepad
it won't have to connect to get these.

This is a basic function but for the life of me I can't find it. How does one remove silence throughout an audio file?
Thanks!
Nancy
I never tried auto trim
I've done it by hand,
I magnify the lower section, looking for dead air or advertisements
and clik along the top section , from left to right
advancing the lower area just enough to see
all I need...deleting dead air and or advertisements
along the way...

Make sure that the MP3 files that you are getting from your music source and trying to open, do not have any cover art embedded in the file tag. If they do, they will not load properly. If this is the case, the workaround for this is to get an MP3 tag editor (free off the internet) and remove the cover art, then edit your MP3 file and then you can put the cover art back using the tag editor if you wish. This worked for me, I hope it does for you too.
Cheers!
Jim
BLOODY GOOD TIP....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is also caller a HEADER, and a text editor may be able to delete it as well
like notepad or wordpad. the only thing I don't know is, what they look like when
opened up and, can the offending data be easily identified?
I ask, because, everyone has their own special code, and that special code
is what will screw up software like NERO, and tell you, that your 50mb is now 1100mb.
I need to look further into this and see if someone has compiled a list of offending HEADER BAR info
that can be referred to.
I haven't opened up an audio file with notepad, but I was told about this from
a guy who works at DENON and he told me about the header bar and to use a text editor
to fix problems that each company puts in their product.
I just opened this mp3 file with notepad and copied part of what was in the header;
[ ID3
fTALB Inv Journal March 2008TPE1 Greg SzymanskiCOMM ¼ eng Eric Jon ]
the rest was a bunch of different websites related to the author
then the body of the mp3 looked like this;
ÿã ÀÕÈÞ…¾HFh44“‚§áE´#jViTXTË%ÕtMpqÛ¦ÈZESÉÛ±Škn&Q¢PÈY$×gI$µ@>¯mÉ$‹O6]‘Žè£h´^*®m.„¹7´«3LÜúUÿã ÀÔY…žIF 4Ëvõì±N¡îtS›y€‘a@¸ÕÜRqeHÂ3`á

A few weeks ago, I downloaded the free (Masters) edition of WavePad. At that time and for some time afterward, I was able to open WAV files from a Zoom H2 recorder, process them, and save them as either an WAV or mp3 file. When I saved them as a WAV file, the indicated (default) bit rate was 1411 kB/s and typical file sizes were about 10 to 20 MB. When I saved them as an mp3 file, the indicated bit rate was 128 kB/s and typical file sizes were 1 to 2 MB. The WAV file was higher quality audio as expected. Recently, I noticed that the file sizes of my saved WAV files were greatly reduced (1 MB or less) and were actually smaller than the corresponding mp3 files I saved and the audio quality of the WAV files was less than that of the mp3 files. The best available bit rate option when I now save as a WAV file is 56 kB/s rather than the former 1411 kB/s. I'd like to know if anyone else has observed this degradation in quality of the saved WAV files.
the only thing I noticed was, the corruption of the default "working" file location for wavepad
once I re-named the file and location, my problems disappeared
if any new weirdness starts creeping in, I'll rename the working folder again
under;
file
wavepad options;
audio processing;
audio working folder;
clik that button, then name your own folder and partition C: or D:
hope that helps...

There was at least one other post on this, but no YES or NO answer:
So ... to restate the question:
Is there a way IN WavePad to apply an effect (like AMPLIFY) to only one Track?
Tks
-Ray
I'm wondering, having never tried it myself
if one could simply CUT the channel you don't want affected
process [ amplify ] the channel you do
then paste in the channel you cut!?!?!?! [ wave pad is all about TMP files ]
bloody hell !!!! that might work!!!!!
-
regularkid;
It has to be the same for mac as for pc
just hitting the SAVE button is not the way to go
clik file
save file as
clik on "save as type"
the menu will drop down then choose
now clik of "file name"
that menu will drop down
choose a different name or add a letter or number to the end and then save
you'll now have the original and the newly created one
hope that does it
-
I never tried that, and I don't know.
you got the possible solution right in fron of you
since you do have something, see if wave pad will open it
then you'll know!!!
if it does open it, be sure to
clik file
save as
choose file type...mp3 or whatever
then pick another file name
that way, you'll have 2 files in case you need the original to play with again
-
-
perhaps it's a hint,
that you'd be better off at the beach, than screwing with this!!!!
You may want to try, naming your "working folder, as opposed to using the default folder.
I was getting, DIFFERENT AUDIO, after doing an operation!!!!!!!!!!!
I deleted and reinstalled it, but only when I renamed the working folder
did it finally work right.
under;
file
wavepad options;
audio processing;
audio working folder;
clik that button, then name your own folder and partition, like D:WavePad-working
that's what I had to do
goddluck

reminds me of a comment by an eyeglass technician,
[ slowwwwwwwwwwww responses, if any at all, to customers ]
about how a certain LENS company did business.
he said their attitude came from them being the big dog on the block and
folks either dealt with them, or did without.....
[ which can be interpreted as arrogance...ego...place description of choice here ]
maybe this attitude thing...............
is contagious!!!

I have created mp3 files from lectures that were recorded on magnetic tapes. The sound is not very loud or clear. I would like to make these files loud and clear. I've tried the different effects in Wave Pad, but I haven't been able to acheive what I'm after. I amplify and do a few other things and still does not sound very good. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks. Yisrael
you may have started out with recording it digitally too low
only you'd know what you did.
I understand they were too soft on tape, I'm referring to how high was the setting
on the line-in when you recorded it digitally? if that was too low, it'll be harder to fix.
because you'll have alot over overhead noise to scrub
and I'm saying you may have to re-record it first before getting it as clean as you want.
you may want to massage as you record then scrub again after.
by that I mean, find a software that will improve the clarity a bit
between the source tape and the recording device,
but don't make the recording so high/loud, that the sound starts clipping.
so, once it's recorded, then go back and try to remove what you can.
but I don't see wavepad doing that for you...sorry
-
yeah, NERO is still smoking somethin' from way back.
I got those screwed up messages too
It probably is buried in the header that you can't see, some kind of code that nch uses that nero misinterprets
you'll need Express Burn
try it, it's free to try...
Track Marks Displaced When Burning CDs With No Spaces Between Tracks
in Express Burn
Posted
"" if I let the program use the default track spacing, though, everything works fine.""
seems like you solved it...kinda
my express burn has expired, so I can't look at it real quick to see the folder it uses
but you may want to NAME your own working folder,
in wavepad, assuming you have it, and if you don't then that's the best I can come up with.
the reason for renaming the working folder is, I was getting weird anomalies from
wavepad
and I couldn't figure out what was happeneing.
I deleted wavepad and reinstalled it, but nothing changed
it wasn't until I saw a tip that said to rename the working folder and I tried that, did the weirdness stop
so, may THAT is what's messing yours up too! If you are using wavepad to edit, and then obviously express burn
copies from the same file as well
I figure, it's like chicken soup, it won't hurt you to try it.
under;
file
wavepad options;
audio processing;
audio working folder;
clik that button, then name your own folder and partition C: or D:
