  1. I would like to pull individual tunes from archived internet radio broadcasts. Can that be done with Wave Editor? If so, where can I find instructions on how to do it? I am relatively old so I need very left-brained, detailed instructions.

    pardon my intrusion here.

    But, you'll need to SAVE, the archived files

    such as [ save target as ] to a file that you name.

    wavepad can then edit out those pesky advertisements

    and convert the bit-rate and frequency too, if needed.

    you can also turn mono into stereo

    and the two other items I regularly use are

    automatic gain control and dynamic range compressor.

  2. I'm new, so bear with me. I just installed, purchased, activated and registered my WavePad 3.05 Masters Edition. When I attempt to save a Sony Connect (Atrac) audio file, it converts great but will only save one minute playback? Please help.

    try this;

    tools

    options

    audio processing

    clik "use this specified folder"

    then name your own folder and drive [ example - D:\audio\wavepad-working-folder ]

    clik ok

    I was running into weird anomalies, like speed change, and other weirdness

    I saw this suggestion and tried it and it worked

    but I can't tell you why...sorry

    no guarantee it'll work, but give it a shot.

  3. Cakewalk’s Pyro 5 has a nice (and easy) feature that allows the user to select multiple audio files and combine them into a single sound project. This can then be saved as a new (1 track) audio file.

    Is there an easy way to do the same with WavPad?

    not sure about " nice n easy"

    the only way I know of, is to open them all, then cut and paste them one at a time at the tail end of the 1st file, til you are done!

    I had pyro and I threw it away, it pissed me off!!!

    lol

  4. About four weeks ago I downloaded the Master's edition of wavepad and installed both it and Mixpad.

    I had been using the free edition of wavepad occasionally on another computer and was very pleased with it.

    On the Master's edition I found that I could also edit virtually any file, including FLV and SWF files, it just decoded them using direct X.

    Unfortunately I had a problem on my hard drive and had to wipe it and re-install all my programs.

    I downloaded Wavepad again (today) but now when when I use it it doesn't decode these files just tells me that it needs a plug in, which it didn't do before.

    I am running XP Pro with service pack 3 installed, and all updates, well, up to dat, including Microsoft .NET 1 and 2.

    What has changed?

    I found the way it worked before was excellent and it puzzles me what I need to do to get it working that way again.

    there's a thread with a link to the components

    you'd think by now, there'd be an automatic download of them

    once you put in the registration info, but there's not, not yet anyways

  5. =======================================================

    Instead of waiting until Help Freezes Over (as the old saying goes), might it not be prudent to look for sound editing software that does not have such ongoing difficulties with Vista?

    Of course, there is always the alternative of not using Vista, in which case these difficulties disappear :-)

    As I recollect, I have suggested this profound alternative here in the past, perhaps before you got here to rediscover the same old problem all over again! In other words, why do you keep using something that you hate?

    :unsure:

    Musikone

    I just posted to bump this to the front page, because so many people were commenting about some weirdness, that I FOUND disappeared once I re-named the file and its' location.

    I still can't record...but that's a separate issue.

    v3.05 wavepad

    and speaking of not using vista, I still have other machines with xp, but am not feeling motivated to add them to my cluttered work area... :)

  6. there seems to be a consistent problem with the default "working" folder

    lots of folks reporting weirdness with their recordings

    I have no idea why, and it would be nice to hear from nch on this.

    BUT the "fix" seems to be as simple as renaming your working folder like I did.

    bump to 1st page

  7. I'm having the same problem, the program seems to be stuck on the Play Fast setting, and I cannot get it to play a song normal. When I load an mp3, it automatically plays it fast, and when I tried to change it to play normal, it still plays it fast.

    any suggestions?

    I also had the CHIPMUNK high speed sound for a while too.

    I fixed it by renaming the working folder, from the C drive to one in the D drive

    I haven't had a problem since!

  8. I purchased the software Switch, Wave Pad, and Record Pad. I paid for all three applications, and when I try and use them, I get a "trial version expired" error message. I have the registration number, and all the pertinent information, but it won't let me use it. When I try and register my paid for version, I get redirected to an "upgrade page", suggesting that I need to purchase an upgrade in order to use the programs I already paid for. I feel this is not a good business practice, as I was satisfied with the version I purchased, and don't feel I should be forced to purchase an upgrade to the programs I already paid for. I contacted customer support on several occasions, only to receive a reply, "well that's too bad", or "we're sorry, but there's no refunds and we're not willing to help you with your problem unless you purchase product support". I've removed and downloaded the programs and tried to register them with the information from the e-mail sent from your product support, to again, be thwarted with error messages. I feel I've been ripped off, and would NOT recommend this software nor any other product you offer to any of my friends or even people I don't even know. This is a very bad business practice. If I sound a bit bitter, it's because I'm tired of paying for products and services that do not work, and what's worse, to be told "It's just too bad". Good luck with your ill-begotten booty, as this kind of practice has it's own way of coming back to bite you on the ass 10 fold. Signed "Ripped off and disgruntled".

    I would delete the software, then re-install it

    and then at that time, put in your purchase info.

    that should do it...

  9. Hi

    I have searched the forum and found a thread with a similar title from which I infer that even having changed the 'Audio Working Folder' (to an external drive) the 'Temp1.wav' file is nevertheless created in the 'Documents & Settings' folder on the C Drive.

    Could someone confirm whether that is correct, please? If so, could someone from NCH indicate whether they have any plans to enable the default location for 'Temp1' to be changed in a future version?

    The problem, if it is not evident, is that my recordings of conferences are typically hundreds of megabytes of WMA, leading to more gigabytes of Temp1 than I have room for.

    Bob M

    I've never tried an external drive, but I did rename the working folder in my C drive to a new folder in the D drive and it solved a lot of anomalies I was getting.

    It will probably work, just don't try running thing without the drive connected [ obviously ]

    I doubt that nch has any plans to change that, since you already have the option of renaming it and where it goes at your own discretion.

    " the 'Temp1.wav' file is nevertheless created in the 'Documents & Settings' folder on the C Drive. "

    to answer your question, I'm pretty sure that if you rename the file and location, whatever name is on the C drive don't Matter, because the NEWLY DESIGNATED FOLDER/name/location is where it'll be doing its' work.

    I hope that answers your question well enough...

  10. I'm a novice. I'd like to learn from scrtch, to convert video files (i. e. from You Tub), into sound, to play on my computer with Media Player, or Ipo.

    Can some one take me through the ropes?

    Thank you!

    Jota

    first off, I just usually convert from wav to mp3 or vice versa

    so this is not my strong suit.

    anyways...

    there is so much incompatability with converters where the sound gets extra noise

    that you don't want. [ make sure you get a trial version before you buy ]

    a temporary fix for you, would be to just use an onboard recorder with a timer to record it in real time for you. [ like record pad ]

    in the mean time, you can keep asking around looking for one that will do the job right.

    I'm sorry, but that's the best I can do.

  11. Greetings,

    I am using the free version of WavePad to see if I would like to purchase the Master Edition. I have run into the following problem; there are occasional stutters in the recording that don't seem to have set time interval. I have the following setup, which may be the challenge:

    WavePad 3.06

    An Applie iBook g3 800mhz with 640 Meg of Ram

    I am inputing through a USB codec

    I am recording live speech.

    If somebody could tell me if this computer is just not powerful enough, that would be helpful or if there is something else I should look at. I thought WavePad would be a good solution since it seems to take far less memory and CPU time than Audacity.

    Thanks

    well, just from the hip

    I wouldn't use wavepad to record...except maybe a radio talkshow/podcast

    but not music

    you may want to try record pad and see how that works.

    I found for myself, that one software will not do all the things I'm looking for, so I had to buy a few different products that worked well in certain areas.

    I didn't like that idea, but I just accepted it and moved on.

    that's the best I can do, maybe someone else knows better info.

    goodluck

  12. Really? I can't burn a cd from a microphone (xm radio)? How can that be? I'm no computer guy, it's all above my head. I guess I'll go see if I have VISTA.. Does having XP tell "you" anything?

    xp has a control panel you can access

    vista has some access

    but I can't even locate the SOUNDMAX folder or control panel to check the settings!

    I can't find it with this useless as tits on a bull search function in vista

    as far as I'm concerned, vista has no search function, it is useless.

    I haven't taken the time to call lenovo support

    because I wasn't in the mood for all the drama

    some techies are not very computer savvy and rely on the help screen they have, and know nothing beyond that.

    I had a techie tell me my modem was bad, but it just needed an update!!!!! [ I found out later ]

    sorry I can't be of more help.

    let us know what u come up with....

  13. Sorry this is a dupe post from recordpad

    but it may give folks a heads up or get us all a needed fix;

    "Nothing will record using Vista

    I'm hoping that someone who had a similar problem

    who discovered the fix or was pointed there by a friend

    can pass on the info here

    besides record pad not working

    wavepad

    supermp3 recorder

    audacity

    and even the onboard vista recorder won't record

    I've looked throughout the control panel the best I could and I can't figure out what is switched off

    SOMEbody must know, I just hope they see this

    obviously, this is a Vista issue, but the fix could help any nch customer with vista and recording problems

  14. I have the simplest of needs. I want to burn a cd every day of a radio program. I'm sure the radio part is all set, I use the MICROPHONE settings. Anyway, I read the help to get started, when it was done telling me about how to set up the right record settings it referenced SETTINGS on the device I want to use to burn the cd. I see no SETTINGS and don't know how to get there.

    I'll bet you can just tell me a couple steps and I'll be off and running. I haven't bought anything yet so what should I get ? Right now I have the wave pad and express burn.

    Also, when I put in a cd it asks what I want to do with it. I say burn cd and thw W Media player comes up. That's the wrong thing to do, right?

    well, you can't burn it live, you'll have to record it and save it then burn it

    if you are using VISTA....I can't help you, because no software that I own, will record on vista

    the issue remains unsolved.

    my onboard recorder that comes with vista don't work, neither does wavepad, nor audacity, nor super mp3 recorder

    something is not letting anything record and I don't know what it is yet...

    sorry....

  15. I can't say for sure

    but I know ipod has a proprietary mp3 format, and

    perhaps the frequency and bitrate you saved at are not compatible.

    if you save at a non-standard rate something other than

    a full wave or half wave or qtr wave 44.100 - 22.050 - 11025 @ 256 or 128 or 64 or 32

    then maybe it just can't "read it " properly

    that's my best guess....maybe someone else has a better answer...

  16. ok, then what did you use to create the mp3's?

    what I'm getting at is, the header bar in the audio, only seen with a text editor in the audio file,

    is primarily the culprit in misreading file size.

    try opening your file [ just one of them ] to see the info. [[ actually, make a copy of the file to experiment with ]]

    be patient, it takes a while to open.

    the info in notepad will be divided up into two sections and a fairly big space between them

    the header bar will be readable, the other section where the music/audio is, will be code/gibberish.

    once it's open, see if you can identify anything that looks like it don't belong there.

    for me, I'd remove whatever didn't look right, save it, then see if it'll play.

    I know it's not precise, but that's the best I can do in that area.

    If you're not comfortable with playing around with that and want a better answer

    then maybe check out some "mp3 tag editor" forums for more exacting info....

  17. I ripped a bunch of my CDs so I could put a lot of them on one CD and

    play them in my truck.

    Originally I ripped them in WMA, as my old truck had a stereo that could

    read and play WMA. The CD player in my new truck can't read

    WMA, but does read MP3. So I converted all my WMA song files into MP3

    using 'Switch'.

    Since then, ALL my operations have been 'From' MP3 'To' MP3.

    No conversions, no other types. MP3.

    I made a 'Sampler' CD with songs from many different albums, and

    noticed the sound levels didn't match, forcing me to adjust the volume

    between songs. So I decided to 'fix' the sound levels so they all matched

    and a friend recommended 'Wavepad'.

    Initially I used the 'normalize' function in the "Batch" mode. The first set

    worked great. I had about 20 songs in the batch list and did the batch.

    On the 2nd batch of songs, it crashed as described after doing some of

    the songs. Then it started happening more and more often. No real

    pattern to it, but most often after at least 4-5 songs had worked normally.

    After babysitting the program normalizing all my albums (dealing with the

    crash 'feature' about every 10th song), I realized the 'normalize' hadn't

    done a good job matching up recording levels, since it simply amplified it

    until any single 'beat' of the song was at maximum level.

    So I started loading albums up one at a time and amplified the songs myself.

    I also noticed on some albums (like Pink Floyd's "The Wall") that the mp3 'cut'

    locations between songs was sometimes not 'right' so I was fixing those.

    During this operation, the crashes happened less often, but still occasionally,

    when I tried to save the files. The crash ALWAYS happens the very moment

    it finishes saving an MP3 file I've made some change to.

    I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but I don't think it worked as the reinstall

    seemed to happen almost instantly, so I don't think my uninstall really happened.

    There is no 'uninstall' option so I just tried to delete the wavepad folder.

    Any help is appreciated because as of right now, my 'trial' version has expired

    and I can't use it. If I can get this bug fixed, I'm ready to buy the real version.

    Thank you for any help!

    mine has also crashed going into SAVE

    as weird as this may sound

    rename your working folder;

    under;

    file

    wavepad options;

    audio processing;

    audio working folder;

    clik that button, then name your own folder and partition C: or D:....[ example: D:WavePad- working folder ]

    once I did that, most of my anomalies stopped!!!

    the only thing I need to figure out is, why NOTHING will record on vista....NOTHING!!!!!!!

  18. I'm gonna contact my support on monday, too busy today

    maybe tech help knows something

    this obviously is another vista based issue

    but I've gotten some real dumb [ perhaps canned ] responses in the past from tech help

    so, I'm not holding my breath here....

    AND with the new "improved" SEArCH functions on vista

    I can't find anything

    can I proxy slap microslut from here? :o

  19. I'm getting the same problem. Unfortunately, I purchased the product and now my crashes are more frequent and I'm getting error messages. I'm also getting no response from the makers of this defective product and I'm pissed off! I've wasted countless hours editing the same piece of audio and wasted money as well. I'm not happy with this product at all!

    did you try this?...;

    under;

    file

    wavepad options;

    audio processing;

    audio working folder;

    clik that button, then name your own folder and partition, like D:WavePad-working

    seems odd, but it may work...

    it won't make it any worse...

  20. Nothing will record using Vista

    :)

  21. Apparently the key code I have is for an older version that 2.12. Anyone have an earlier version of Record Pad so that my key code will work - I refuse to pay again!

    and they don't keep older versions either

    there was an earlier version of wavepad I liked and I contacted them to see if I could get it, and maybe a discount since it was older

    but they don't keep them for the customers

    I'll bet the software engineers have them for comparisons but their system is not setup to accomodate the public

    I might have an older one of record pad buried somewhere, but don't hold your breath, it'll be at least a cpl days

    before I'll be able to rummage thru my mess
