  1. I tried to use the Sound Editor to amplify the volume of my video clip which is in Mpeg format but a message of "Pls check you have select the correct sound player device using option .... ". I duly go to the Audio Processing > Sound device in the tool/option menu and tried all four options there [ defaut, sigma tel audio, bluetooth av, blue tooth sco audio] but none of the button worked ... the same message appear when i tried to click the start button ...

    Can somebody help ????

    Many thanks.

    So, you have an mpeg clip and you tried opening it in wavepad but it asks about

    the sound player device you have?

    I took a quick look, but the only options I see are under TOOLS

    perhaps that will do it for you. But honestly, I never got or heard of an error message like that before.

  2. I have taken some video of my kids playing in the park near to an airport. However, the aircrafts are making so much noise that it makes watching the tape almost unbearable. How can I eliminate the background aircrafts noise but keep the kids' chattering and laughters in the video ... any help would be most appreciated. Many thank. :o:o :o

    I don't know of one [ for sure ] that will do it

    that's a very difficult process.

    I think first you'd have to isolate the frequency band that the jet noise is in

    and reduce it as much as you can, by using a 15 band equalizer.

    The n do the same thing to the voices, find the frequency they

    are in and amplify that band.

    Always practice with a copy of the file so you always have the original to fall back on.

    There are 2 other programs I'm familiar with, MAGIX audio restoration [ just search for MAGIX audio ]

    It has a variety of software manipulations you can apply including an equalizer

    I use it mainly to sharpen up dull or muffled audio, I never tried isolation a frequency using it tho.

    I also bought a program called soundsoap, but I haven't installed it yet, so I have no real advice on that one.

  3. You may want to rename your set up exe of wavepad [ 3.05 ] in interests of not confusing it with the newer version as they do not name their builds and that way you'll know which is which if you decide to go back .

    Then download the free version, 4.24 , and try that one.

    You may have exceeded it's capacity, but I'm not sure

    Another thing would be to use a different WORKING file

    I know there WAS an issue with it before that cleared up

    after renaming the working file.

    I hope this helps

  4. You can clik on window and change the way the screen looks to you

    so you can eyeball it easier, but that's it.

    If someone has a cute trick, I don't know about it, and that's entirely possible.

    The other option would be to forego that drama and let that take place in the burner

    via the software. Providing it does a decent job, all you have to do now is to rip the last equalized burn!!!!

    on EXPRESS BURN, clik THIS DISC, then choose level,

    it won't take long to test it out!!!

  5. I have many different recordings which have a different volume output level. I've been looking for a control which will tell me the output level of an individual song and give me the ability to change it to a certain level. I want all songs to have the same output level. Am I missing something?

    The only way I knew, was to open them all up [ that'll fit on one disc ]

    in wavepad, then look at the file and their levels, and add volume to the ones that need it.

    You can play each file and jump around in each file to compare, then add as needed.

    If there's an auto option for that, I never used it.

    That's the best I can do for you....

  6. We have a video documentary of our Mission Trip we did with our small church. We recorded it with our home video cameras and we purchased an affordable external microphone. Some of the interviews have a lot of background sound caused by the micro phone picking up too much detail. How can I remove Humming, AC noises, High pitch noises caused by electrical fixtures?

    We applied the High-Pass Filter with the presetting General Audio Cleanup.

    We also applied Auto Spectral Noise Reduction with the presetting Apply to voice.

    I think it has helped a lot. We would like to know if I did the right thing to apply these two filters, and if there something else we can do or select a different setting that could help.

    The background noise is not that bad at all when we view the documentary on a computer, but is very noticeable when we view it on a TV, and even worth if the TV has an added sound system. It is pretty annoying in between spoken sentences when there is a short silence. You can see a trailer at

    Any help will be very welcomed, I can send a short sound clip, I can answer questions, I thank you in advance for your assistance.

    You might just want to to cut out the offending part and add a section of silence!

    I use another audio pgm to do other things like filtering. I didn't have much luck with wavepad doing what I needed doing as far as filtering went.

    There's a specialty audio scrubber called audio soap, but my copy got lost in a sewage back up before I could even install the copy so I can't tell you how effective it is.

    That's the best I can do for you...hope it helps.

    [ p.s.

    loved the transition cuts, they were great. the editor did a nice job!!!!! Praise the Lord!!!! ]

  7. I was doing great with a 2007 version of wavepad and saw the new version and thought "that'd be nice" so I upgraded and now for some reason I can't "mark" positions to edit out large chunks of audio. this is killing me. I do a lot of interviews and have to edit them down to time and it's almost impossible without being able to mark and delete.

    anyone else having this problem?

    your pal,

    steve

    I don't think I ever used that option, but if you have. 4.22, get the new one 4.24

    it has been fixed.

    I hope your problem is fixed too. try it!

  8. Hi: I paid for three programs WavePad Sound Master Edition, Switch Sound Format Converter Plus Edition and ExpressBurn Plus I printed all the software activation and the ID keys I need the download for these three I have backed my computer up only to find it it was corrupted . I bought these programs last year I was wondering if someone could help me please. I am from Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada Jackie MacWhirter

    You'll have to email customer service [ http://www.nch.com.au/support/index.html ]

    be patient.

    I sent many emails trying to find out why back then my CC would not go thru.

    The only fix was trying to buy again and it finally took, never found out why.

  9. The NCH products I have handle WMA files but sometimes have trouble with WMA. In the case described below two WMA files were OK for Windows Media Player and the Olympus DSS Player but would not load completely in the NCH applications: WavePad and Switch Sound File Converter. Details Follow:

    I have the following software and version:

    WavePad

    v 3.05

    Unlicensed Basic Free Version

    I have been using it very successfully to access the .wma files that my Olympus voice recorder produces in meetings with my wife's chemotherapy doctor. I edit them and create more compressed versions to review and email to my sons. The software works great and has been working this way for more than a year.

    Today however when I loaded two .wma files from the recorder they were both much shorter than the original files are.

    Here is the detail for the files:

    WS310421.WMA

    Record Time: 06:48:17.00

    64kbps

    188 MB (193,311 KB)

    (WavePad Loads from start to: 00:02:29.12)

    WS310422.WMA

    Record Time: 11:11:16.00

    64kbps

    310 MB (317,830 KB)

    (Wavepad Loads from start to: 04:25:28.75)

    In both cases the loaded file portions loaded work normally.

    Loading to WavePad a .wma file from a previous month to check it out, I still get the full file length loaded as before:

    WS310415.wma

    06:08:02.00

    64kbps

    170 MB

    (WavePad loads from start to: 06:08:02.33)

    Windows Media Player sees and plays the full length of all (three) files so it must be something WavePad doesn't like about the two newest .wma files that WMP tolerates.

    I downloaded the NCH Switch Sound File Converter and obtained the same truncated results that I did with WavePad.

    I hope to edit these two new files in WavePad so if there is anything I can do to make them compatible, I would appreciate any advice.

    Thanks.

    You really don't need switch for that!!!

    You may just need to reload 3.05 [ my first one too ]

    Then make sure you have all the converter files for wavepad [ don't ask why they don't include it....I have no idea why ]

    I don't have a link for that, but if I stumble upon them [ it takes a bit of searching to find some stuff ] I'll post a link for you!!!!

    Could you email me that version? I lost mine to a sewage backup and would love a copy!!!!!

    To email, just clik name/profile , on left side scroll down...

  10. Hi I am current (4.24) thanks also I commend the programmer for fixing the wavepad so that it could be reduced to minimal.

    before when I recorded I could not reduce it to the task bar now I can ! GOOD! before it clouded my desktop availability

    There are still issues with the highlight function , after highlighting it goes back a bit before the highlight & plays , on the second click it starts at the highlight.

    The program has only frozen once in numerous cleanings thanks "cut"

    Yeah to be able to minimize is good.

    My work around was to have my other stuff opened and minimized, then when it was working,

    I'd just clik the minimized new one which would just overlay on top of wavepad...

    I'm still looking for color options ans an option for the orange bar that keeps it all centered.

    It's a good idea, but not always useful, a toolbar switch would make it perfect!!!! [ I use it on a laptop with a 12 in screen ]

  11. Concerning BUILD numbers

    The BEST THING to do til it gets fixed if ever, is to r clik and add the build as you rename the file.

    You can also just name a folder and put it in there, but that's not as good as renaming the file and adding the build number

    then burn a copy too!!!!

    I've had stuff go wrong that I never thought would happen.

  12. ----------------------------

    Sorry to hear you lost your HDD to sewage, hard to replace "intellectual property"

    I use the wavepad to pull sewage OUT(death threats & such) of sermon files & other audio & video.

    I have tried many different audio programs & wavepad seems to be the simplest to use, I won't name the others out of respect for the "Mothership site" I am posting on..lol

    I use it everyday many times a day to "capture" audio Anomalies that were injected into files for intimidation purposes. Incest is a very sad problem in today's society & it is even sadder who tries to cover it up, "a hint" they use your tax dollar. This is all I will say as this is not a "society Ill's" bitch site..lol.

    There is one improvement I really like & that is the ability to reduce the program to the taskbar after you begin to record, it frees up the desktop.

    Keep trying it & it will work, Perseverance is the keyword. later "cut"

    What in the world is going on with that?

    Seems like you'd be able to protect that!!!

    There's a site called GRC.com where the owner got attacked by some kid called WICKED, so he set up all kinds of protections to stop the attacks. It seems that the kid just heard this guy was ""bad"" from someone and decided to attack him. The attacks stopped after a meeting of the minds, but he learned some good techniques in the process. You may want to check out the site, which offers some free software, and the story may still be posted there for you to read in its entirety.

    [[ sorry cut, I re-read your comment and mine, and I can't figure I what the heck I was referring to in my post to you....musta been a brain spasm on my part ]]

  13. Well praise The Lord they did fix some of the booboos!!!!

    It no longer amplifies a cut section

    and I can amplify a section to work on without it freezing up on me.

    But I still HATE that floating orange bar and the flicker I get off of it.

    I'd like to see that as an option, like a button to clik to activate or deactivate that feature

    because most times I find it in the way of what I'm trying to do and to clik it off

    would be perfect...

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    OK....I just found the classic color scheme option, which gave me the colors I love!!!!!!
    HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. HI Yeah they need to put the builds or versions on the installs so you know what it is, because you may have to pay for an update.
    I had build 4.03 & that kept doing what you are talking about. I then got the 4.24 build & that seems to be working other than a few bugs here & there.
    I agree there needs to be a page on here with downloads of different versions I started with 3.05
    There have been many improvements since then.
    cut
    I'm gonna try 4.24 .....my last copy of 3.05 fell victim to a sewage backup
    it also got my backup hdd!!!! I'm not having a good year at all....
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Ok, well the first thing I noticed is, I now have screen flicker with the orange bar that floats in the center!!

    I don't like the floating feature either. I can see some usefullness in it, but for my purposes it is more annoying than it is useful.

    [ HOW ABOUT AN ON OFF FEATURE SWITCH FOR THAT TOO ]

    Everytime I tap to the right side of center to jump ahead, it just stops everything and goes to the beginning,

    now I lost my place and have to waste more time locating that spot again!!!!!

  15. 4.?

    Sorry, but when I dowloaded 4.24 it changed the original version num, and these guys don't put it on the setup !!

    Any ways, a recent [ this years version ap-2009 ] freezes up when I amplify the signal to work on a section to fade out

    the thing just freezes up...I can't tell you how many times it has triopped me up and messed up my work

    and how much of my time has been wasted by it's newfound quirkiness

    If I knew where v3.05 was, I'd go put that up, cuz this is just too annoying.

    What took me a few minutes to do without issues, I end up redoing it many times over and I find it quite obnoxious....

  16. This is an e mail I sent to nch@nch.com.au, but it says it will not be answered, does anyone else have any other contact details i could try, or have a solution to the problem??

    Hi

    I purchased, downloaded and used wavepad, mixpad and switch software on this computer. Unfortunately, while I was on holiday, my parents had to clear the hard drive of all programs- in order to fix a problem with the computer. They didn't back up my music software, and so it has been deleted.

    Please may I download the software again- as I have already paid for, and used, the above programs?

    To prove my payment, I will give you my contact details and information, which I'm sure you can find on your systems- to see that I have purchased these products:

    [deleted for publishing on forum]

    [postcode]

    [Home telephone]

    Please reply by telephone or e mail, to confirm receipt of this e mail, and to arrange a course of action, or to ask for further proof of payment.

    Much appreciated,

    Daniel Mathews

    Oh WOW!!!!

    Well that just goes to show how darn near anything that can go wrong will go wrong when you least expect it.

    You may have better luck sending a letter....

    Perhaps my comment will get a senior nhc person to look into this futher.

    Til then, I'd revisit the site and try to find an email link, and ask them to

    look into it or at least give you the correct email to address the issue.

    hope this helps http://www.nch.com.au/support/index.html

  17. I am new to your software.

    I would like to open a mp3 song and fade the applause and talking at the end.

    Can you outline the steps to take?

    Thank you.

    There's not much to it, just R CLIK the section desired then clik on the fade out option on the left of your screen and that's it!!!

  18. Hello

    I have just downloaded wavepad and I want to use it to download audio i record on my minidisc recorder.

    I am trying to work out how to do this - does anyone know step by step what i have to do.

    Im assuming to start with im going to have to buy a lead to connect the mini disc recorder to the computer and then open a window in wave pad to download the audio into a wavepad file. so far i can only see one to download cd stuff.

    Im sure you realize from reading this that I am not very techie - for a start would anyone know what I would call the lead I need when I go into the shop to buy it?

    Any help is really received with thanks.

    Kitty

    WOW!!!! Another minidisc fan......

    As you know, minidisc is a proprietary format, so the files can only be read by sony software.

    BUT, you can play the minidisc into mp3 recording software of your choice.

    you may wish to use some different interfaces out there made for this.

    http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Transit/

    http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/UA1EX/

    [ I prefer the M_Audio Transit unit ]

    Audio software is so vast, you're gonna have to do that one on your own. Here's some freeware;

    http://download.cnet.com/windows/mp3-audio...p;tag=ltcol;nav

    If you're planning on recording in WAV, I hope you have a large HDD.

    I hope that helps

  19. Hey

    You should never have to buy a license twice. We do strongly encourage you to backup your downloaded product as we don't replace lost items.

    Any issues with the purchase contact us via the registration link, otherwise at the bottom of the Knowledge Base articles there is a link to contact support, use that and you will get to speak to someone. If you don't get a response, check your Spam filters.

    kgogolewski, PM me to sort out your issues, I'm not sure where you are at and it may be too long to have on the forum.

    As small as the files are, and as many times as I've heard this same complaint, I'm thinking a download section would be quite pleasing to customers and would not cost a lot to maintain. But maybe I'm wrong on that, as I've never done it.

    I myself am not sure where my original wavepad file is and would appreciate an old download section as a back up.

    Maybe a member supported area in each section that gets enuf traffic on it, could have a link to earlier files[ no keys tho ]

    so that folks who were registered could get access .....

    just a thought.

  20. I am new to wavepad editor but am used to working in professional audio programs. I can't seem to find a way to mark in points and out points on the timeline for the perpose of defining sections to be cut. It seems this program can't do this very rudamentary but absolutely necessary function. Can anyone help??

    I don't know what the industry standard is, if any, but for me, I found that I had to magnify the file using the + key

    to see where I was at, then right clik the area you need to work on. It'll highlight the area!

    For me, I mostly used it to break up a large file into smaller segments, then marking them correctly so I don't mess up the order. [ the smaller segements can then be more easily searched out because there are now 6 sections instead of just one in an hour long file ]

    I'm not sure that answered your question, but I hope it helped.

  21. Ok gang. New to this and my first post. Here is the problem:

    I was given a cd that has stories and interviews with my grandmother that died 26 years ago. It was recorded on a cheap cassette recorder and has been transfered to a digital format and given to me on CD. I don't know how to describe the problem except to say that it seems to have been recorded too loud. It has a tin sound to it when my grandmother speaks. A noticeable cracking.

    I have the Beta of version 4.21 for Mac Intel.

    Any suggestions on how to fix this so that I have a better recording of her voice?

    Thanks, Tom

    I'd try compressing the track first...because just lowering the volume may not do the trick quite the same.

    I also found that auto gain control sometimes would reduce the volume in certain instances.

    So 1st I'd make a copy of the file, then work off the copy and save the original, because you may find some other software at another time to fix what wavepad may not be able to.

    Anyways that's always the best thing to do, work off a copy.

  22. OK! I was making myself crazy with that crying baby!!! What does it mean that the spectral subtraction method is slower but more accurate? Also, are there any other methods of noise reduction to try aside from the two I mentioned previously?

    I never really had much luck with wavepad noise reduction.

    About the only thing I can suggest would be to highlight the sections where it's just the baby crying then choose reduce volume by 99%

    I don't think there is anyway to completely separate the baby from the speaker.

    I use magix for other noise reduction/enhancements

    Wavepad, I usually edit out advertisements and use the auto gain and compression that do a pretty decent job

    I don't think there is a software that will do it all for any one person.
