We apologize but we cannot test this software version because we no longer have a computer running on Mac OS X Snow Leopard (version 10.6.8). I did however tested our latest version for Mountain Lion and there are some effects that does not have preview option but most of them do. Feel free to test our latest version from our website.

One more thing that you may want to check is if the Recording is set to Mono or Stereo. You can check that by clicking on the button labeled as "A" for audio options.

Switch does not have the function to Normalize or Equalize files, you can do that using WavePad by going to the edit option and click edit files with WavePad.

If i am not mistaken the software that you are using is Videopad and not Wavepad. Have you tried different types of DVD discs or a different program to burn the DVD with? Since the issue happens after you have burn the disc, you can try burning the video using another program like Express burn to confirm if the issue remains.
