  1. I use Express Rip Plus (version 1.81) on a windows 7 machine. Click on the ‘Encoder Settings’ button next to the Output Format. Many options there under the 'Attributes' drop down menu.
  2. There is a frustrating lack of participation on these forums! I can’t answer your question, as my NCH usage is only in the audio realm, but I have considered getting this program and follow the forum. (So far my modest video needs have been handled with Windows Movie Maker, although I would like to explore more possibilities in the future.) Anyhow – and I appreciate that video rendering takes a lot of time – have you tried the ‘ create new file and then copy and paste your test segment’ method? This is how I often work with audio clips – would it take a lot more time than the OUTPUT method you are looking for? Sorry that I am not too familiar with VideoPad, and if my question isn’t of much use, but I would like to understand how the copy and paste method is less desirable or if (as you wonder) it is even possible.
  3. I use Switch all the time, but have not done any batch processing. If you find that having Media Player running when converting is causing an issue, then I would assume the logical solution would be to quit other applications before running Switch.

    Live mixing

I hope someone more knowledgeable than I will jump in here, but these forums are severely lacking in user participation. I can’t offer a suggestion for another software that is better suited to your needs (I am sure there is one), and I don’t want to discredit MixPad (as it works wonderfully for my uses) but I don’t think this program is geared toward ‘live’ mixing in the manner your post suggest you require.

    declicker

I have no experience using it (so if you do please post about it) - but the declicker tools are found in the 'Effects' tab> 'Cleanup' drop down menu.(ver 5.1) Good luck!
  6. My apologies; I ‘deleted’ my reply. I don’t know how to find the temp files, but I had questions and suggestions for avoiding the issue in the future. None of which would help with your current dilemma. Reading over what I originally wrote, I felt the tone of my reply was off, so I tried to remove it. Sorry for the confusion! If the program is still running with the file showing (which is not how Fetterman's initial post reads) than perhaps you could try saving it in a smaller format, ie: mp3, or maybe on a flash drive if the laptop hard drive is actually too full. Something doesn't seem right to me; there may be a glitch in the software, but I don't feel like you have posted enough info about the circumstances to know. Anyhow, it sucks to lose important files, and you have my sympathies. Another thought, as a last resort, perhaps you could connect to another computer via line/headphones out, play the file and try to re-record the sermon? Good luck! vapors
  7. You have not really given us enough info to try to figure out why you are getting a muffled and distorted recording; I mean there could be many explanations. But I am fairly certain it isn’t because of your use of the ‘free’ version. Any open file in WavePad can be saved in a variety of formats and attributes. A ‘project’ in MixPad is just that – a work in progress. To save a mix as an audio file (in any format/ attribute), under the ‘file’ menu choose ‘export file as an audio file’, rename it if you wish, set the destination folder, and choose what format and attributes you want. Good luck.
  8. I always set the destination folder at the start of a project, and name/rename each file as I go along. After putting it the test, I find I rather like Express Burn(v 4.52)and have had no problems using it. Sometime I find that when selcting a number of files at once, the order can get mixed when dragging; I always drag a list of files from the top, and always review the track order (and settings) each time I burn, regardless of whatever I have hopefully set as the default. vapors
  9. In my experience it is better to paste the selection into a new Wave Pad file and save it ie: 'clip.1' Then that file can be loaded into MixPad. There are various advantages to doing so, but some things are better learned thru experience... Good Luck.

    Toolbox

If you are running windows xp, you can go to the add/remove control panel and remove the toolbox.
  11. While I have had many successful recording sessions setting the noise floor and having the software split album tracks, I now usually just record each side as a whole track, and then edit it with WavePad. I experience less headaches splitting the tracks myself, rather than piecing improperly split bits back together. Takes more time, but hey, I really enjoy working with this stuff, and I usually perform other editing like cleaning up silence between tracks, lowering the amplification of pops, etc…
  12. If your recorder supports usb that would be the simplest way to copy the files to your computer. Or if your computer doesn’t have an SD card slot you can find an external stand-alone reader that connects via usb at very reasonable prices. Anyway, once you copy the files to the computer it is simple to open them in WavePad. Perhaps there is more to your question than meets the eye?

    Audio Tapes

Can any of the content of the tapes be found in digital form elsewhere?
  14. It has been a month since you posted, so perhaps you have figured out the auto split yourself. I can’t help with that as I prefer to do all my splits manually, which assures that the split is exactly where I wish and allows me to fine tune the track (for example: fade out/in, or add silence, etc.) right then and be done with it. So no help with auto split from me, just sharing method of operation (which took some trial and error to figure out in itself) and my agreement – WavePad is quite useful!

    Help, please.

A couple of things you might wish to reflect upon. First off, although these NCH forums are set up for folks who use or are considering buying NCH software, there is an awful lot of spam that fills up the boards and distracts from the purpose. Even legitimate and deserving questions are often posted under the incorrect forum. Posts are started with incomplete or confusing info, and then the poster gets upset because no one has responded. To top it all off – they find the answer themselves but withhold it from anyone else reading the thread who might be interested in the result. Peace, vapors
  16. Not being familiar with the circumstances you describe, I offer no advice, only sympathy. If you should resolve it please come back and tell us how.
  17. I can’t drag a ‘folder’ into the program (version 1.24, win xp)- I must select the audio tracks and drag them onto the window, so I am confused by what you say. Anyhow, here is my method of operation: Within the desired folder (album/concert/what have you) I create a new folder with mp3 added to the name, then when setting up the conversion in Switch, browse for that destination folder, and of course set the output format and encoder options. Or you can also create a new folder during the conversion set up within the program itself. So I believe your answer is yes - you should create a destination folder to land the files in, which is pretty quick and easy. Good luck!
  18. I use version 1.30 and I don’t know if this will help, but NCH software saves files to a default folder created by the program which can be tricky to locate. I recommend creating your own recordings folder destination – click on Options, and choose or create a destination (I have a desktop folder named ‘Recordings” for SoundTap projects.) At least you will then easily find and know if you are recording a file. Also, when choosing “Record microphone input” under ‘Devices’ you must select the proper sound input device from the drop down menu, which I think would be your soundcard/audio driver on your motherboard if you are plugging directly via usb. The newer version options may be different, I don’t know, and I use an external audio interface (usb) and would choose that from the drop down list, although I only use SoundTap to record streaming audio from the internet; for recording from a mic or instrument I recommend using WavePad. Good luck !
  19. I am a Golden Records user and haven’t tried Record Pad, but I would imagine that the file saving options are similar. Your question reminded me of my first session recording with this software and I wonder if this might help – when setting up a session you have the option to select/create the folder location that the file will be saved in, and I recommend trying that (if you haven't already) – at least you will be able to find the file readily, or determine for certain that one is not being created.
  20. I have made guitar/mic recordings right into WavePad via an external usb audio interface. If you are getting a signal the green bars on the bottom right of the record window will show some action. If you don’t see any, then something is amiss with your configuration, or the signal is possibly too weak? Hard to say from here. My recommendation would be to try out Golden Records, which is better suited to this type of project. Once you record your files, you can edit in WavePad if desired. Don’t give up – this software is easy to use and delivers great results.

    Resize Option

Resize options are found via the edit tab.
  22. I assume the unit doesn’t support usb, and that your basic question is how to copy music files from the recorder to your computer’s hard drive, so you can then edit them with WavePad. Out of curiosity, what model of recorder do you have? What music file format(s) does it record in? What type of outputs does it have? More info please!
  23. My suggestion may require more effort than you wish to exert, but it is very easy to rename the tracks prior to ripping. After the cd to be ripped has been loaded into the window, right click on each track, select Rename Track, and edit titles as you wish.
  24. I am not an iTunes user and my experience with mp3s is limited. But I suspect the issue lies with the m4a file, which Apple has DRM protected. I’ll let you do the legwork – there are many posts in the NCH forums regarding this – sorry I couldn’t help.
